Thank you. Bogdan. that did the trick. It does make me concerned though that since this is a newspaper theme, and newspapers often contain hundreds of pictures of faces in every edition, are there any plans to allow for a more standard 4:3 aspect for these images? I understand that you are trying to make everything lighter in terms of data transmitted and load time, but if we have to completely disable the images because they are only showing the tops of people’s heads, that kind of defeats the purpose of why the theme is rendering the images that way in the first place. In any case, replacing the images with the gray gradient shown in

http://media.altimac.com.s3.amazonaws.com/images/obits-mobile2.png

is working. Is there any way to insert the same kind of gradient placeholder for the remainder of list of posts? I have inserted one in that screen grab as a model. Again, thank you and I realize this is beyond the scope of your support, so I trulyy appreciate your assistance.

Hi Bogdan. Thanks for the reply and I apologize if my question was not clear. Here is a link to my site:

https://starnewsgroup.com/obituaries

and also a screen shot that shows my concern:

http://media.altimac.com.s3.amazonaws.com/images/obits-mobile.png

The narrow images in the mobile theme work very well for the main page and for most of the categories but for our obituaries it causes only the tops of their heads to be shown. What I am trying to do is either a) hide the images on the category page for Obituaries, or b) have the images appear in a standard 4:3 aspect so the deceased’ faces can be seen. Please let me know if you require any further explanation. Again I am not asking that you perform these mods for me, but only to point me to where in the mobile theme pages the adjustment needs to be made. Thanks!

Is it possible to bring an Amazon- Itunes- and/or Playstore-Button in Area NR 1, so that someone who watches the video and read the lyrics, can click to “Buy that Song”

How i can rename number Area Nr. 2, and change the content to the category the post is in. So that if the post is in category “80s” there are post of that category, and if i change the category of the post the content will also change ?

Just on the AdRotate plugin suggestion, it won’t allow you to do that either. You would also have to have a different sidebar for each post.

There are more advanced plugins that will do it but it will turn into a management nightmare once you start getting 200-300 posts or more. I have a different sidebar for each category and even that takes a bit of time to manage changing ads.

Waste of time for Amazon anyway, their native ad system is smart enough to work out what you’re selling or writing about 90% of the time.

I’m not looking to “Rotate Ads” I’m looking to do this.

If I have a post about Blue Cars, I want to do an amazon native sidebar ad for Blue Cars.

I then have another post about Red Cars, I want to do an amazon native sidebar ad for Red Cars.

To do this I’d have to create a new sidebar for every page? Would that lag the theme having that many widgets?

Additional info: Hereis my shop page. I have one product entered. Why is it shown twice? Why is the Amazon ad, search bar, and category list shown? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

Okay. Look at Freedomite.com and you will see my sidebar has an amazon ad, a search bar, and a category listing.

Now look at my shop and you will see that those elements are below the (empty) product area. Why? And why is the product area shoved over to the left side?

My settings are: here. (Non Sidebar is a sidebar I made up that contains nothing.)

Hello,

Unfortunately we are not aware of the Amazon Mobile Popover implementation. You should follow the instructions provided for this ad regarding wordpress implementation if there is an. I cannot provide any insight as we have not tested this type of ads. Our theme was built to work with all ads but in special cases, a custom implementation is needed beyond the theme panel options. I can;t say for sure what it is though. The ad provider should be able to provide more details.

Thank you!

Hello sasquatters,

I have added your Amazon ad on my side, and it did not work as properly -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Lid3rXdgyoy. It seems that the Amazon will not deliver this ad, sorry! Try to use this code with a default theme and check the results. Notice that this type of issue is not theme related. As you can see, our theme has been designed to use only Google Adsense. So, with Amazon Ad, the theme was not tested, sorry! Another alternative in this regard would be to use the AdRotate plugin and check the results. Also, you can contact the Amazon Ad provider, tell the problem because they should be able to provide a more accurate response in this regard.

Thanks for the message!

Hello,

Maybe your code requires a bit of extra implementation like maybe a script that goes in the theme functions.php or header.php in the head section. Please check with amazon for wordpress implementation on the ads. Also, you should use this method for non adsense ads for them to get the proper styling: https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/

Thank you!

Hello, I know this thread is from a few months ago but my question is relevant. I also read that section of the theme doc before I found this thread. The amazon code does not work.

<div class="alignleft">
<script type="text/javascript">
amzn_assoc_ad_type = "banner";
amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon";
amzn_assoc_region = "US";
amzn_assoc_placement = "assoc_banner_placement_default";
amzn_assoc_campaigns = "autorv";
amzn_assoc_banner_type = "category";
amzn_assoc_isresponsive = "true";
amzn_assoc_banner_id = "03A5KM6V37S9SB1VFD02";
amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "sasquatters-20";
amzn_assoc_linkid = "8fe1aee407a637c3807252ee03856edd";
</script>
<script src="//z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&Operation=GetScript&ID=OneJS&WS=1"></script>

Hello meinPeKaWe,

Unfortunately, our theme has not been designed to use Amazon Ads, but only the Google Adsense. In this case, we cannot make for sure if it will work or not with our theme, sorry! You should try it and check the results. Also, if you want to have some different ads on mobile mode compared to the desktop version, you should use the Mobile Theme plugin and add your ads for mobile mode, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/16XiD0M3UO For more information about mobile theme, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your understanding!

hi, is there any option to have different “Header Ads” on mobile and desktop? I don’t use Adsense, i use amazon ads, where I can’t choose automatic size. So the Header Ad for desktop is much too big for mobile. Any ideas?

Hello,
Every piece of code that is provided by an external source such as Amazon must have instructions that come with it. Please ask amazon how to implement their code into wordpress and if the code even worsks on wordpress. Please use a wordpress default theme and try to implement it there. We cannot know for sure how amazon intends the code to be used. Please ask the code provider how to implement it as we did not create it and we did not test any specific amazon ads with our theme.
Thank you!

Bogdan,
After testing several methods I’ve found a way to post Amazon Ads in the Newspaper theme.
I installed the Plugin ‘Amazon Link’ and input my Amazon AWS account Public Key and Private Key in the plugin settings.
Under Amazon Form Settings selected ‘iframe image’.
Then on a new Post or new Pages, look under the text window and settings, and find the ‘Amazon Link’ settings. You can do a Search there for whatever product you want to advertise. Select your product, click ‘Insert’ and the shortcode displays in the text box.
Copy this. You don’t need to save the Post.

Go to Newspaper/Theme Panel/Ads/Custom Ad#, Paste in the product shortcode.
In Pages/Visual Composer add an ‘Ad box’ block. In the General tab select from drop-down menu the Custom_Ad# you setup with the shortcode. Make your customizations of background color and margins,etc., and Save.
You can paste in 2-3 shortcodes in one Custom_Ad. They display side by side.

I haven’t yet run the process of actually buying something to see if the link records the action to one’s Amazon associate account. But displaying the Ads is a start….

Hello Eros Power,
See my reply to Bogdan B.concerning a way to post Amazon Ads.

Any ad can be loaded that doesn’t inject Javascript – that is the issue. For example we load an ad rotation script via shortcode, which has both adsense, amazon text only CSS/HTML ads, and our locally hosted text-only CSS/HTML ads. So, you can host your own ads — and graphics — via https.

But yes, if you’re using an ad network that must inject is own JS into page, especially not using https, that will not work. You might contact them to join the party 😉

Hello,

Please try to put the amazon code inside a post in text mode and see if it gets displayed. We have not tested our ad spots with amazon ads but they should work. If you ads are non adsense we recommend using this method: https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/
Test the ads on a wp default theme as well to see if the ads are accepted by wordpress at all.
Alternatively you can use the adrotate plugin to bypass the theme ad system entirely.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks

Andrei,
Thanks for your help. Could I ask a couple more questions?
What options do I have for header styling on category home page posts?
It seems that most of the blocks have the same heavy horiz. line above post photo with white title inset into the colored tab.
Is there a way to use a lighter styling on this graphic detail? I noticed on the Travel Blog layout this detail was simpler. See the attached screenshot.

Also what block would I use to include an Amazon affiliate ad in a block or widget? The copy-paste Amazon ads are in iframe format. In other themes these would display if placed in a simple WP text widget. But I can’t get that to work here. I’ve pasted the iframe code into a text block, WP text widget and the Google maps which says it can manage iframe code.

Example: <iframe style=”width:120px;height:240px;” marginwidth=”0″ marginheight=”0″ scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ src=”//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets…..etc., </iframe>

Thanks
