Please note that this is just an example for the Categories widget. In this case the widget html structure allow this customization but in others cases the required customization could be more complexes, depending by widget’s layout.

I have several configuration questions.
1. Hover Slide Animations: Is it possible to disable the slider image animation. What I mean by this is, for example, if I hover over one of the sliders with my mouse the image zooms in and then goes back to its previous size. I have looked for a setting that disables such animation, but have not been able to find a way to turn it off. Is there code that can disable it?
2. Site Width: Can the width of 1164 be reduced without impacting functionality? My primary goal is to get rid of all the extra white space padding on either side of the site. Before looking at it with firebug I thought it was a margins or padding config issue, but when I used firebug it appears the width of the site is 1164 without padding. I’d like to reduce it down so that there is only a small amount of white on either side of the site with a width of say 1096. Can this be done without compromising the theme? If so is would you have code I could just paste in to make the tweak?
3. Wallpaper Ad Functionality: Question 2 directly relates to this question. I run an entertainment blog and from time to time we get campaigns that will take over the site with wallpaper ads on either side and above the header. Do you plan on adding such an ad spot to the Newspaper theme? I’ve seen other developers (such as MVP themes) whose themes contain a wrapper ad feature? I also noticed that in your Newspaper Showcase Fitness First Mag has 90×160 skyscraper ads in a similar manner, but I’m not sure if they did a custom tweak for it. This would be great added functionality for news sites.
4. Disqus: I saw in your hot fix info that there had been a fix for Disqus comments. I didn’t see anywhere on the actual theme feature info that the theme is in fact Disqus compatible. I already use Disqus on my existing site and plan to use it on the new site I’m launching using the Newspaper theme. I just want to confirm it is compatible and that the comment count shown on the main, category and tag page story lists will update based on Disqus comments.
5. Header Menu Issue: I noticed that when using Style 8 – Hibryd Menu 2 and a background color that the white menu is one or two pixels higher than the site layout itself so bleeds into the background color. I’ve included a screencap. It’s not a big deal when I use a white background, but when I have a background color or when I have wrapper ads it would be a problem. 
6. Do you recommend specific freelancers who are familiar with Newspaper that can be hired to make customizations? I want to have some sub themes for specific categories created and before I started looking at freelance sites I figured I’d see if you had any recommendations.

The difference I see between your example and mine is that you’re not implementing the image in the same way as I am. When I test the image in the header spot, footer spot, etc. it works fine. In fact we also have other animated .gifs on the page that function correctly.
However, we have the page in a 2/3 + 1/3 column configuration. I’m implementing the image in the 2/3 column. First we have a Block 1, then an Ad Box, then Block 2, then another Ad Box (which currently uses Google adwords). see here: http://www.screencast.com/t/glmWHwTdXos

I have implemented the AspirEDU .gif in the 2/3 column at the top using a “Single image” block. Same issue – flickering and squeezing of the image. At the same time I’ve substituted the header image (which is only a .jpg) in the Ad Block position. You can see how the header image (which is 728X90) has been squeezed to 640X80, left aligned and presses up against the section below (Block 2). If you continue to scroll down the page, in the 3rd Ad block position, we’re using AdWords and the full width is being used without squeezing, etc.
Right now, until we figure it out, I have placed a static .jpg image on the page. Check it out – it should be 700X86, but on the page it is only 640X80.
My gut tells me there is something going on with the Ad Block squeezing the image and, as such affecting the display of the animation (as is readily visible in the video examples I’ve send over).
Note: I’ve updated the images we’re using so they now have a black boarder.

One of our old articles has this for its 7-day array:

However, it has not been viewed in months. Unless this article is viewed on days 5 and 6, it will retain those views for that day and eventually, when the weekly numbers are the highest, will show in the 7 day popular block.
Can we delete all entries from the database for post_views_count_7_day_total and post_views_count_7_day_arr? Will this reset the list? Or will it cause an issue?
First of all thanks for an awesome and very well-built theme. So far it’s been a breeze to work with and customize to my needs.
There is one issue I’d like to resolve. I want to implement clickable wallpaper ads including the header add backgrdound. Last part is easilly doable with just modifying the alpha-value (header ad background) and then overlay a html5 / flash ad, but I need the top menus (main menu & top bar) to be full-width and not fixed width and have the top of the background image / ad start from the top add (td-header-sp-recs) and NOT from the top of the page.
Is there an easy solution for this?
I plan on using OpenX / Revive to serve all ads.

Please ensure that you have switched to another permalinks type, as the example, Day and name, also, you have disabled all the active plugins except Visual Composer, SEO Yoast, clears all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme.

Hello, thanks. I don’t use photon. But above all, the matter is that the problem occurred suddenly, from one day to the other one, without any change on our website but the wordpress update. I tried to come back to the previous one, but nothing have changed.
Concerning the pictures, we are used to add them from the wordpress media gallery where we put them in. For example, this article, the first image works with the “lightbox” effect, but the other ones don’t work. I have already tried to remove the code that you could see and which was different from your screens, but nothing changed. ( the link http://radiodisneyclub.fr/once-upon-time-saison-5-hook-pomme/ )
Moreover, once the picture doesn’t work, it doesn’t work everywhere on the website. I changed the theme thanks to a website of development, but the problem occurs only with the Newspaper theme.

I’d just make some modifications to file Newsmag CSS file style.css and, in the past, I’ve already made these modifications in a Newsmag child theme. But after the last updates it seems no more supported because, for example, the simply copy of the original file in the Newsmag-child theme root directory causes malfunctioning to the site (i.e. icons in the top header menus and icons all over the siste are no more correctly displayed and only their placeholders are visualized. Moreover, from your documentation page, in the Child theme support section, I see that the file style.css is not in the list of files that can be overwritten by a child theme: is it correct? Should I really redo by hand all my code customizations to Newsmag/style.css file at every Newsmag update (and it happens quite often)?

I have a few different categories on my site, which is an online car magazine, that appear in the main menu.
Cars
– Car news
– test drives
– etc
Motorsports
– Motorsport news
– Formula 1
– etc
News – where both car news and motorsport news plus other news that don’t fall into any category except News.
Problem is, News is supposed to be sort of a gatherer, all news go in there so I categorize posts that fall into, lets say, “Car news” as car news and news.
How do I control which category appears as the “main categorization” on the thumb on front page for example?

As for the second question – I will do so with a plugins, although I noticed that when the image for example 300x470px then there is the problem, and when the 470×300 then only once per device problem.

Do you maybe use an image plugin or the photon feature of jetpack? If so please remove these plugins/options.
The image lightbox could also break if you use a link in your image caption.

In order to get the post ad above the related articles, you will need to edit the theme files and use a do_shortcode function inside the post template you want the ad to be displayed in. For example, you can use a theme custom ad 1 spot and add this shortcode in each of the loop files corresponding to the post styles you use:

Hello, I have installed the demo but it has some errors on Header.
The problem is that the header is showing a blank space (I have already removed ADs so that Blank space does not correspond to an AD) on top of it and also the Trending Now Label should be stuck to the Menu as Demo. I have installed the theme on MAMP and it works perfectly fine but when I do it on my live site the error appears.
I have tried re-installing the theme but no luck so far.
