Hi, I’ve tried using smart lists for some articles, but there is a glitch in at least one of them. In this article, for example (using smart list 4):

http://inspirelle.com/9-recipes-perfect-festive-holiday-dinner/

You will see that at the bottom, where we should see the Likes and Shares, the WordPress Like button with a star is not appearing, and instead there is just the number and LIKE THIS. Instead of the share buttons, there are just a bunch of dashes, a number 25, and the MORE button?

It was the same for this article: http://inspirelle.com/7-festive-ways-to-enjoy-christmas-in-paris/

Please help. Aside from disabling Likes and Shares, what else can I do?

I’d also love to see support for Google AMP (once stable) within the theme itself. Looks like it’s rolling out into search in about a month.

Thanks!

Hello Pramodc,

Unfortunately, there is the functionality of our theme for Ads and the whole theme is based on this. If you want to change these values for Auto mode, please check the td_block_ad_box.php file like this -> http://screencast.com/t/FfpDnK9SPf or maybe you can achieve this by using a plugin like AdRotate for example. We usually recommend AdRotate because most users seem to have it working properly on their website.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

We’ve been using preview fonts from myfonts.com in our Newspaper6 site, currently visible at http://79.170.40.247/wellbeingofwomen.org.uk/

We now have a myfonts.com preview bar at the top of the site that we can’t seem to remove.

We have now purchased the fonts we need, but we’re not sure what to do next.

The blue bar seems to appear due to these lines of code in our head tag:

<script src="http://easy.myfonts.net/v2/js?sid=250385(font-family=Geometria+Bold)&sid=250387(font-family=Geometria+ExtraLight)&sid=250395(font-family=Geometria+Medium)&sid=250397(font-family=Geometria)&key=Kiee4jHq8u" async="" type="text/javascript"></script>

However, we’re not adding this code ourselves. It’s not visible in View Source, so it seems to be added dynamically by the Newspaper6 theme.

We’re not entirely of the steps we took to get to this stage, but we’re guessing it was via the Custom Fonts page in the Theme Panel – either in the ‘Custom font files’ section, or the ‘Typekit.com Fonts’ section.

In the ‘Typekit.com Fonts’ section, we did enter some custom javascript that we got from myfonts.com (not sure if this would even work). We have since replaced that with an empty script tag, but the preview bar remains at the top of the site.

How can we remove this preview bar?

Hello rishab55555,

If you want to move your category description to the bottom of the page, just above the footer, you have to alter a bit the code. First of all, you have to comment/delete this code, according to category template used by you, to avoid having the twice description. For example, if you use category template 3, you have to delete this code -> http://screencast.com/t/YLo1UlPb and then you have to add the code below in category.php file like this -> http://screencast.com/t/WtanSvvV

The code is -> http://pastebin.com/zzApDb7j

The result you should see here -> http://screencast.com/t/TAVP7m4K0c

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

I tried it and the author/date stamp disappeared from the thumbnails ( https://gyazo.com/0f278f2a78c742cac46de89b3450a491 ) but they still appear on the posts ( https://gyazo.com/2aaac313a09f1aeadd74bcf85c500efa ) Did something go wrong?

Simply adjust the media query size you want to impact. Worthwhile to learn how responsive CSS works … meaning, there are several “break points” for desktop, ipad, phone, etc.

So, you can target a specific “size” device by over-riding the CSS for that breakpoint (in the example provided the CSS should only have over-written the @media breakpoint for devices “up to 768px”.

Worthwhile to look at the style.css and see what the default size breaks ( @media ) sizes are. This gives you a sense of which kind of thing you can target with custom CSS when not just one device size.

Just food for thought as you can learn by experimenting, so that you can make future changes more easily.

I have a few requests:

1) Is there a way to change the placement of the advertisements on the article pages? For example, I would like the ad placed above all post content, so the ad is first item shown, followed by the rest of the items (category breadcrumbs, title, subtitle, article)

2) How can I remove the social media share buttons that appear between the post title and the first paragraph text of the post? (It’s too cluttered up there; too hard to see the story title and its beginning content.)

3) The square buttons showing a user to click for next page to continue reading (when page break is used on article post) are too hard to find at the bottom of the post because they are below the social media share box and advertisement. I want these buttons to appear immediately below the last paragraph of the post. Can we move the advertisement lower below these buttons or move the buttons up?

Many thanks for your help.

thanks a lot Catalin, it worked perfectly &amp; looks great now! (the first part)

Alright, I will try to find an alternative solution for the title on the images.

Do you by any chance also know what code I need to add to the CSS, so that I remove the space between the Logo/Menu and the post/page title (the ones without big sized images)?

Thank you and have a great week!

I’ve been using it since November without any issues.

No reason for it to be built into theme as it’s going to go through a lot of changes, and is best left as plugin so it can be updated independently of the theme files.

The Automattic plugin is best solution right now because they are the ones actually testing this with Google and big WP VIP sites like TIME magazine, etc. — so, right now that is the “bleeding edge.”

Presumably this is more likely going to be offered as addition to WP core at some point.

Benefit of the plugin for the time being is that theme developers don’t have to chase info they don’t have access to on where the framework is evolving and when/where it will be supported.

So, just turn on the plugin – it works 🙂

Hi –

(www.utahsafehaven.com) I’m using a static home page (homepage – blog) with the Big Grid 8 layout.

I’d really like to “pin” a featured post (actually a particular category of post) to a specific location in the grid layout … in this example, I’d like to have the “Featured Property” always appear in the lower right corner.

How may I accomplish this?

Thanks!

There is a plugin made by Automattic here Though i understand its still in its early DEV stages i would like to know the following:

1.Is the plugin compatible with the newspaper 6 v6.6.3 theme?
2.If not is this a feature you are planing to implement in the near future say your next big update?

Hi,
I have two questions about Block settings and Mega Menu.
1. I set a filter to one of the blocks (http://new.willkommeninpolen.de/1.jpg) to point to Medical Spa category only. Why then on the bar other categories are visable?
2. I added a Mega menu to a “Medizin” page (http://new.willkommeninpolen.de/2.jpg) Now links from that menu direct to eg. http://new.willkommeninpolen.de/category/medizin/medical-spa/ which I cannot modify. I`d like to direct to eg. http://new.willkommeninpolen.de/medical-spa/ How can I do that?
I tried to modify a Mega menu by putting ID`s of that specific pages but then a Mega Menu is not displayed.
How can I fix it?

Hello Donmartini,

Our theme uses a lot of predefined thumbnails in blocks and modules. If you check the Theme panel->Block settings area you can see the list with all dimension of the thumbs wich is used in the theme and which elements -> blocks/modules uses -> http://screencast.com/t/tQuimSer9 If you want to exclude the cropping system wich you have to use the right dimension for your images.
Our theme uses the system of cropping from center to top. The theme uses thumbs to reduce the page size and speed up page loading time. From each image uploaded are generated thumbs for each thumb size used by the theme. Basically, when a post it’s displayed on the page in a block, the featured image displayed is not the one which you uploaded in the media file, it’s a thumb cropped from the original image at the precise dimension. To change the picture orientation most likely you will need a different cropping system. We use a WordPress function – add_image_size() – you can read about it here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size – and here – http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
Our theme crop (cut) thumbnails in some cases to avoid creating a lot of thumbnails in order to reduce to load more spaces on the server.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the message!

Hi

Please provide an example of which grid’s color do you want to change, for example big grid 1,2, so I can inspect this closer and get back to you with a more accurate answer. Also provide a link or a screen pointing the desired result if it’s possible.

Thanks!

Dear tagDiv team,

I would like to remove the space that separates the Logo & Menu from the Image Grid on my front page.
This area: http://i.imgur.com/SjkQp5U.jpg Link to front page: http://bit.ly/1Ytfdu8

Also, is there a way to get the title, date, author & comment counter to also be on top of this image, like when I choose a layout with full size images? For example, I’d like to do that on this post: http://bit.ly/1NxhNDR

If yes, I would also love to remove the empty space that separates the image & sidebar on the right from the logo & menu.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello bhadrabalaram,

Unfortunately, you cannot resize the image that appears in category template 6. Practically, this kind of the image is your background image wich you have set it from your Theme panel, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/Q7GEzcUy6Do and you cannot change it only for this template. Another alternative for you would be using a bit of CSS with the background-image attribute for this category template and insert your desired image. Below I gave you an example how to use this with CSS. Please try to implement this functionality in our theme following the same steps and code.

The code is ->

.td_category_template_6 .td-category-header{ background-image: url('http://www.gettyimages.ca/gi-resources/images/Homepage/Hero/UK/CMS_Creative_164657191_Kingfisher.jpg');
background-size: 1164px 400px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}

The result you should see here -> http://screencast.com/t/skp9vYhPZqI

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
