Hello,

I have the same mistake:

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdescubrirlahistoria.es&tab=desktop

I think it’s because of the theme. Thanks!

@Alin [tagDiv]:

Hi,

As suggested by you i tried W3 Super Cache & it really gave better results than W3 Total cache.
Yes the menu problem is solved and you can not see it because i have updated the theme to 6.1 version, but now i am having another problem.
My Posts heading are not displaying like they used to display before, i was using the “Text with Title Block” of Visual Composer for Posts but now after update all the posts are not using it. Please refer to this image for review : http://oi57.tinypic.com/2rp8uw8.jpgerror image

Example link?

Never seen this issue. Does this happen in the preview while using the visual or text editor to do a normal post? Are you using the default post template(s) or a custom template?

In your screen shot your text has no spaces; and so there would be no line break.

Be sure to turn off any plugins not included with theme; and also check console in Chrome/IE with F12 to reveal errors on page render.

I love Newsmag as it is; just would like some options to streamline code, which the LESS compile method will solve for many things, thankfully. However, a “style2.css” and “functions2.php” kind of thing with all the bbpress, woocommerce, and other such things removed, would be super duper cool. Being able to just rename the 2 files to make them the default to cut the bloat for pure magazine sites would be on my happy camper list šŸ™‚

Oh, and option to have the categories print bottom of page with tags vs top of page, which seems to cause a problem with pesky Google News (they pick up the categories for some reason as part of headline sometimes when printed above the headline). I am either turning them off, or manually moving them in the template file — not big deal, but some folks will cry about having to touch the code, as you well know.

Tks Radu, it could be much better if any of us had skills but we are mainly stats and numbers, not webdesign. But looking forward to apply Newspaper 6 and get the most of it. Hope others join this list, it would be great to exchange ideas.

Here is an article example, in english for non-portuguese speakers to understand the context between the theme and content: http://goalpoint.pt/blog/goalpoint-in-english/analysis-is-william-carvalho-ready-for-premier-league_14902

Tks for the sticky, cheers

Hi,

We use xampp installs for testing, we didn’t tested other tools so i cannot recommend you something else.

First backup the site files and database, in case something goes wrong you just use the backup to restore the site. Usually c-panel comes with an option for this, or you could do this manually – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

You can’t keep the old theme in the same folder, you either delete it an install the new one or move it to another location.

In v6.1 we fixed some of the issues which were reported on v6.0:

[ Version 6.1 ]
- improvement: added global colour for block headers in General theme colors section
- improvement: now you can change the fonts on Lists in post content from Theme panel
- improvement: added .screen-reader-text class for better usability
- improvement: visual composer updated to the latest version
- improvement: better documentation + first video tutorials
- fix: UI improvements, key images now have a specified height, this prevents repaints and it makes the page appear that it loads faster
- fix: unique articles work now as expected
- fix: better review import from version 4
- fix: speed booster 4.1 works better now + buddyPress fix
- fix: big grids on iOS where missing titles until touch
- fix: block 20 css fix + speed booster
- fix: content bottom and top content ads css fix for safari, firefox and IE
- fix: various css fixes
- fix: social counter instagram
- fix: main menu z-index
- fix: missing Ajax filter option for IOS slider
- fix: visual composer single image block alignment issues
- fix: space issue when turn off the top menu on header style 12
- fix: the ajax dropdown filter sometimes disappeared when the mouse was moved down to select ca category
- fix: ajax filter - was deselecting all the selected filters from the page on click
- fix: better alignment on reviews

We may consider releasing beta versions in the future, thanks for your suggestion.

Thank you!

I will re post my message from another thread here:

Hi,

I’m still searching for a good solution for that plugin. A lot of people install the plugin without knowing what it does and after that they add 100 plugins and some of the plugins are not written ok. For example some of the plugins do not respect the google pagespeed recommendations of punting javascript at the end of the page and they just try to use jQuery in the middle of the page. This slows the site down and it also enforces the requirement that jQuery has to be in the header instead of the footer how Google recommends.

For example even Revolution Slider is written that way, not only that but they don’t use recommended WordPress methods to load it’s style and js. One may say that loading resources that way is bad BUT even jetpack (that is a plugin made by the makers of wordpress) doesn’t use standard ways of loading resources – you can find the jetpack hack in the speed booster.

I know this is causing a lot of frustrations but we don’t have a good solution yet 😐 .

To always enable speed booster, delete this code: http://screencast.com/t/RZLIOPUNdqh

Hi,

Here is an example with Block 14 with complete white images and you will see that the text have a black gradient to make the text visible. http://screencast.com/t/WpROkqaZWNE5

If you want more darker you can apply a transparent black on entire module to make the text more visible. Use this CSS and adjust the opacity like you want, that value 0.3 from background-color:

.td_block_14 .td_module_mx1 .td-module-thumb:before {
content: '';
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
display: block;
background-color: rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
z-index: 0;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
}

result: http://screencast.com/t/q7BwGeD1

Thanks for the message!

Hi,

Our css is not the biggest one, we worried about that too but we found other themes with bigger ones. The css got so complex due to market demand. Users don’t want simple themes anymore and the majority of users what a theme that works with a lot of other features.

Even with such a huge css file the theme performs very well. The css when it’s gzip by the webserver is only 50Kb .

less makes everything more easy, for example we have the following variables that we use in all the theme http://screencast.com/t/vcfpBFxa .

I am modifying the like facebook button under the post, to make it a page like button.

I edited td_module_single_base.php on line 137, as follows:

//$buffy .= '<iframe frameBorder="0" src="' . td_global::$http_or_https . '://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=' . $this->href . '&layout=button_count&show_faces=false&width=105&action=like&colorscheme=light&height=21" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:105px; height:21px; background-color:transparent;"></iframe>';

$buffy .= '

<div class="fb-like" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/larepublicadiario"
data-layout="standard" data-action="like" data-show-faces="false" data-share="false"></div>

';

But the page is still showing the original like button.

Why does it happen?

CachĆ©? – I don’t think so, since it shows even in new posts that are not cached.

Thanks.

The VC has nothing to do here, because it doesnt need to show up of course on pages that are build with VC.
I need somthing for the ELSE section, so no VC used. I succeeded now with regular WP onboard tools, adding in the else section my featured image. Might not be up to the programming level your framework is set in, but it works šŸ™‚ Actually the longer I look into your theme, the more it feels that from good old WP not much is left … it looks like its complete own system. Hope I’ll find my way into it. Is there also a documentation for theme-tweakers like me, one that is not about the panel, but about how to adapt the theme beyond? What all these functions are for? About the API?

}

else {

//no page builder detected, we load a default page template with sidebar / no sidebar

Hello, i am usually tweaking a lot the themes I buy, and already with not so big themes I always wonder why the CSS code must be so complicated written. If I want to change the color of headlines – all headlines on the whole site – I have to define so many things if I don’t want to be so rude to use !important all over. Well, your theme panel offers this now, but it was just an example.

Now Newspaper has the largest style.css I’ve ever seen: 25.000+ lines!
If I want to change the whole site to simply two fonts, I don’t even want to count on how many wheels I have to turn to get this done … seems like an impossible task.

But I must admit that until that day I didn’t get my feet into LESS and SASS, so I wonder if you yourself would put such a burden of CSS on your own few shoulders, or if that 25’+ are the mere result of some simple LESS programming which actually makes things more simple than complicated.

So, am I wrong with the feeling that you made theme adaption a real pain for your clients, or would it just be a pain for old-style non-LESS user as me? Then the moment has come for me to mess less and learn LESS. Can I adapt your theme more easily, e.g. how would I change all instances of Roboto without going crazy in style.css?

Okay… now I have fixed it. I had to enable the in the theme panel in block settings > thumbs on modules &amp; blocks the new defined format.

Also I had to delete the cache file in wp-content. Because after done all these 3 steps I still had the old version. But not it seems I have fixed it (locally)

Hi,
I“m new to WordPress. Switched for my new News site from Joomla to WordPress cause I think this fits beeter my needs for this Project. And I decided to buy a professional Template for this Project. And found it within this genial Newspaper V6 Template. Concratulations for these really amazing Template and it“s inbuilt Functions.

So maybe a stupid rookie questions by myself and for you just a smile šŸ˜‰
Maybe my questions are just WordPress related or/and Template related.

Here are my questions:

I disvocered that WordPress works differently in some situations.
The first thing is the Login (when in Backend sttings only registered User allowed to posting Comment). If a User wants to comment on he has to Login. But instead to be able to Login at the sites he stays he is redirected for Example to: http://www.altenburg-net.at/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.altenburg-net.at%2Findex.php%2F2015%2F06%2F18%2Fmelbourne-calling-three-reasons-why-you-should-visit-it%2F

This Link is a redirection to wp-login.php

Is there a trick to open the Login Form in a modal Window like in the TOP Header of Newspaper?
Or to direct him to a Login/Register Page? – If Yes, how can this be done? Are there Plugin available for this? And if Yes, which one would do this job?

Or in some kinds if a User types a wrong Username and/or Password he is redirected to the wp-login.php Page too. So, asking for a solution for this too.

Maybe a Plugin by the Developers of this amazing Newspager Template could programmed to prevent the redirection to the wp-login.php Page šŸ˜‰

As I told you I“m a absolut rookie with WordPress and English isn“t my native Language so please don“t beat me. I searched endless Forums and Search Page to find a Solution but without results.

And further Questions about security Plugins to prevent spamming and User Registration. Which Plugin are useful and works with Newspaper V6 without problems?

Thank“s for your replies
With best regards from Austria
Karl

Hi wpfan3751 delete your old visual composer plugin &amp; upload new one.
Then go to dashboard under visual composer general setting check User groups access rules, and enable required shortcodes.
