I used option C with choosing another theme, deleting newsmag and adding/activating again.
It went ok. Now when I tried to install plugins, it says js-composer one already exists. I don’t see it in the list. Is it the same as wpbakery visual composer?
And for revslider, you are giving even more confusing instructions. You tell to go into revslider 5 folder, while on your screenshot you show to choose the second revslider zip within the plugins folder. They are different sizes and the same name. Which one is it?
Do I have to disactivate/delete the current one?
What about the rest of the plugins in the list? Any more specific instructions on each??
Not an issue with the theme but more a question for the developers/community: what’s your preferred caching setup for Newspaper? What do tagDiv run or recommend as an ideal setup? And has anyone experienced random downtime using WP Super Cache?
I’d used WP Super Cache in the past but had issues with my site going offline, which I tracked down to the plugin (although I couldn’t tell why). W3 Total Cache is my favourite caching plugin but isn’t approved for use with Newspaper, and as such has caused me issues with the newspaper dashboard (wiping settings).
So I’m back to WP Super Cache, and the random downtime has returned. Jetpack reports the site went down 6 times in one day, for between 5–13 minutes. Has anyone else experiences this? Google Search console doesn’t seem to show any connectivity errors, but the downtime is so quick I’m not sure it would. I have on occasion been able to confirm the site is actual down, so it doesn’t seem to be a false positive from Jetpack.

Working with this theme has been a ROYAL pain! Bought it a month ago, with the notion I would have the site up and running in very little time, but instead, nothing but problems everywhere… Saw this post while looking for another problem fix and since I also have and need to solve the problem with the tagDiv social counter registering FB at 0, I decided to read it.
Catalin suggested that “Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme -> Newspaper 7.2 and also, the latest version of Visual Composer ->4.12 and Social Counter 4.1 in order to achieve best results.”
1. I have V 7.1.1 there is NO UPGRADE from my version to 7.2 option on the Newspaper dashboard – so how the hell to upgrade it?
2. For Visual Composer V 4.11.2 to V 4.12 there is this message – “There is a new version of WPBakery Visual Composer available. View version 4.12 details. Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin. To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit settings to activate your Visual Composer. Got Visual Composer in theme?” – In other words, I need to buy a licence to a plugin that should have had a licence since it came bundled with the theme I bought. If not, a “buyer beware disclaimer” should be posted, Oh BTW, you need to buy this and that too! Because this is the answer from Visual Composer ->How to update and receive support if I do not purchase direct license? In such case you need to wait on your WordPress theme author to update Visual Composer on their side and push it to you. Where do I find this information on your site?
3. Luckily, I have Social Counter 4.1, but FB is at ZERO.
4. How do I update the theme to V 7.2 and Visual Composer to V 4.12?
5. Finally – Development and also Support needs much improvement!

Unfortunately you cannot have access to the visual composer support unless you buy the plugin. We will try to help as much as we can with your questions related to VC and if there is something we cannot answer we will request a support ticked on wp bakery, but most questions users have are theme related as visual composer uses theme blocks and modules mostly as we have implemented it that way.
Please provide more details to what menu pagination you are referring to.

We have disabled all plugin and rebooted the server. We still do not see the drop caps button in the editor for posts or pages. We are running WPBakery Visual Composter Version 4.12.
Also is there anything we need to do to activate these features?
What is Shortcake mapper? Visual Composer Shortcode Mapper adds custom 3rd party vendors shortcodes to the list of Visual Composer content elements menu (Note: to map shortcode it needs to be installed on site).

While editing a post and refreshing the updated post on the frontend of the site, I noticed that the footer – which I had previously disabled – was showing again. That was odd, but I figured it was a small hiccup.
However, I also noticed that none of the big grids worked anymore (on homepage and on category pages).
It’s almost as if something got reset (and somehow made the big grids stop working).
So, recapping: “Big grid” type of post display stopped working on categories and on the homepage. I was not working with those settings when it broke.
I checked the settings and it looks like everything is set up correctly.
I’ve tried:
– Ensuring unique articles is disabled
– Disabling plugins (despite not working with them when it stopped working)
– Removing all filters from the big grid (just showing posts from all categories, no filters)
– Adding a new big grid with no filters
– Adding a different type of big grid with no filters
– Removing other big grids from the page

You can add or remove elements from your page by using the visual composer page builder. you can add blocks, grids in 1 column, 2 columns or 3 columns. The fact is that, if i scrape again with the sharing debugger tool, it gets corrected.

For some reason Visual Composer is not letting me edit my home page. When I go to Edit Home Page, it just shows spinning wheel, then eventually stops.

Does NOT Work. The Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer: Version 3.16.4 will rewrite your image media path to wp-content/uploads/ regardless.
So if your images are in the images directory you CAN’T use this plugin, Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer: Version 3.16.4
I am not changing my directory and redirecting images. Don’t want any part of that.
I’m also working with their tech support on the plugin to try and find why it’s rewriting to the wp-content path and not respecting the images path I set forth.
If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, I would be most grateful.

This is how the Visual Composer element works, we don’t alter the Visual Composer code or functionality, the theme was designed to support the plugin and we register our own blocks. On our blocks we use add_image size function and the thumbs are used on modules and blocks, you can read more about this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/ so you can use tagdiv blocks if you want.
