Hi Simon C,

I copied file “single.php” from parent theme then copied to child-theme, it worked!

I’ve completed all your suggested fixes on ‘mkdv.meta-morphos.es’ but found no solution.
The screenshots are below.

The common factor, whether the store page was setup with TD Composer or WP Bakery, is that the WooCommerce products DO display when that shop page is NOT selected as the ‘Shop’ page in WooComm settings, and DO NOT display when that page is selected as go to Shop page in WooComm settings.

I deactivated all non-Newspaper plugins at one time, and then deactivated plugins one-by-one. The results were the same.
I also activated/deactivated WP Bakery plugin in the test.
No child theme is in use.

*** FYI On the blank display page the Chrome Console shows following error in red:
“Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
/storetc/mode-less.js:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)”

Newspaper appears to have code obstructions to allowing WooCommerce to function in it’s normal way. Will your programmers correct this in the near future?

Hello Simion,
for me this solution worked.
But coping those files is just a hotfix for me.
When will this error be fixed, so I can delete those two files?
I can see it coming that with one of the next updates, these files may cause problems and the support-answer will be, that there are two files in the childtheme directory, that shouldn’t be there 😉

Hi,

Please make sure that you made a clean install, please deactivate the theme plugins and delete theme, change the Newspaper theme with a default theme from WordPress ( not child theme ), delete the Newspaper theme, and install the new the theme and theme plugins, after that you can use the child theme from the package v9.7.4 -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,

Please make sure that you have the last theme version, Newspaper v9.7.4 and all theme system status is configured as mentioned in the requirements guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all non theme, also if you are using child theme, clear all cache and try again.
If there is still a problem, please provide me some more details and some screenshots with this problem.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,

Glad you can now achieve the desired results, using a child theme. We will try to improve the child theme capabilities in the future, where possible. Also if there will be future modifications to the theme structure, we will try to not let this affect the child theme functionality.

Regarding the widgets, please check in the inactive section – http://prntscr.com/oh6ez9
They could be moved there after a theme update, or when switching themes. They will remain configured, all that remains is to place them in their sidebars.

Thanks

Testing latest update on staging site 9.7.4, core plugins are not updating and staying inactive.
When you go to update, reporting as successful, but when you go to reactivate, saying outdated, happening when both child theme and main theme active ( know child themes was an issue with previous update)

Please try and copy the loop-single and single files from the composer
http://prntscr.com/oh60aw
Paste them in the child theme main folder – http://prntscr.com/oh61r6
In the single file you copied make the modification provided above. Then check if the default post template applies properly.

Please let me know. There is indeed an issue in that specific case, meaning post set to inherit the default post template from the theme panel. This suggestion should solve it.

Hi,

Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all non theme, also if you are using child theme, clear all cache and try again.
Also please do not use more then one builder per page, because the will appear conflicts between builders elements.
In order to set the screenshots on this forum you’ll need to upload them and set only the link to those screenshots.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,

We’ve tried to keep our documentation up to date for the child theme and for the rest of the theme functionality.
Since Newspaper v9.7 the theme functionality was moved in ta-composer and the child theme was working only with style.css and functions.php; but now in the last version ( Newspaper v9.7.4 ) the child theme is working again like before and the files from td-composer plugin can be set in the child theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
We recommend to set the child theme via FTP, also if you are using the envato api, there can be a little delay until you’ll receive the available update.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi Vlad S,

Thanks for looking into it.

I did installed the 2 files as you said into Child-theme, but it went really wrong completely messy my post layout though.
I sent email again and I left as it so you can have a look.

I’m just started to build my new site so my case is not too bad to compare to others.

I probably get downgrade for now (lucky I have saved 9.7.3).

Cheers,

Hello Vlad,

yes, with these two files I’m able to switch back to the default layout. Thank you!

But I hope, that this is not the final fix for this problem, because I don’t want to have too many files in my child theme to keep it as most upgrade save as possible.

If the previous option did not seemed right please add these files in Child theme root as you can see here. It worked on our side great: https://www.screencast.com/t/pxAuHAjPY4

http://cdn.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/default_template.zip

Hi,
i had v9.7.3 and child theme from your package uploaded through ftp and it does not work.
So i updated theme version but child theme didn’t work.
I tried to zip the child theme file and to upload through wp admin panel and now it works.
I suggest you to provide to users child theme zipped and to update your documentation.

I registered the theme with api, why i did not see the available update?

Regards

No, it is a bug in the child theme functionality.

Even when using the standard child theme provided with the theme without any further changes or files copied, the result is not the same as when activating the parent theme.

With the child theme active the default post template is not working.

gci-brandlab

It is definitely a bug. When using the default child theme provided with the theme, switching between the parent theme and the child theme should not make any difference.

However in the child theme, the default post is not working.

Please fix this bug instead of giving us links to tutorials that don’t solve the problem. And as many people have the same issue, it seems to be a problem.

Jaddy1219

Yes, I’ve done 3 times, still having the same problem.
Fumm, I may create my own original child theme, I’ve done it when I was using the different theme which didn’t come with the theme.

I will let you know, be2name.

I’m waiting for a reply in my email box.

cheers,

I also did a manual update now. Nothing changed and the error still exists, no matter if I use my own child-theme or the one provided with the theme. The error does not occur when using standard Newspaper theme. So there is definitely a bug in 9.7.4 with child-theme.

@Jaddy1219
and @Vlad-S Please let me know, when you found the reason for this and how to fix it.

Hi Vlad,

I have just done as you said, I had deleted all last version themes include plugins. Then installed theme and child-theme then activate plugins from the updated theme.
Well, there is no siderbar on the post.

I will email you now.

thank you.

The problem is also occurring if I take YOUR standard child-theme supplied with the latest Newspaper theme.

If I activate the Newspaper theme, single posts look fine.
If I activate the standard child theme, single posts have no sidebar, etc.

Hello !

Indeed the child theme implementation has changed as the theme files structure was altered in the last few updates. Please follow this updated guide regarding the child theme for proper implementation. Also if you encounter any issues let us know !

Here is the tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thank you !

There is definitely still a bug with child theme support in 9.7.4.

If I install the child-theme provided with the theme without any further modification, default single post pages are not working as intended (no sidebar, etc.). And this is not a problem only we have.
