Hi,

Unfortunately, most of the theme files were moved into the tagdiv composer plugin as per the requirements of envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css as there are very few files left in the main theme as envato requires all functionality to be added through plugins.

Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the inconvenience!

Ever since updating to the latest version of the theme, I’m unable to change a post to the video styles even after following the directions of ensuring it’s in format – Video and a ‘featured video’ url added. The post remains the same default style. I also noticed that with the other style types, the “featured image” stays pinned to the post even when I select style 5 which should not have a featured image present.

I’m trying to use Style 10 for all of my posts (the one with the video on top) but it’s not working. I’ve tried clearing my cache and nothing works. Any ideas?

edit: also, when I do change it to a video format and try using Style 10 and add a video URL, the video is put in the “Default” style location which is what’s happening to all posts since the update. I’m also using the child-theme if that helps.

Hello – I have been using this file to edit schema for articles (and yes I should be using a child theme) but on the most recent Newspaper update, it does not seem to exist anymore.

Where can I edit this schema for posts now? Thanks

If you solve this problem here, I won’t have to use the child theme.

Can someone tell me how to fix my site? Since the update, my featured images don’t appear nor do any other images. The social media icons are giant, the menu item disappears when hovered over and there’s a load of script stuff at the bottom on every article.

I read it’s to do with the child theme but I’m not very tech savvy and don’t know how to switch it over or disable it. I’m feeling like I should downgrade to a previous version of the theme.

Dear support team,

while moving my child theme into a plugin and testing it, I discovered that there are calls to
locate_template() instead of require_once() in the following file:
td-composer/legacy/Newsmag/parts/menu-mobile.php

My guess is that it’s a bug since you replaced all the ‘locate_template’s with ‘require_once’s elsewhere.

Since I am customizing that part of the theme, I though I would share, and hope that can help you make this theme even better.

Cheers,
Eric

Upgraded Newspaper to 9.7.3 | Running Child Theme 9.2
Default Demo with content is installed, however the site is not rendering correctly as if the css is not applied.
How can I fix this?

So — don’t use a child theme?

Or — the only thing to include in your child theme is functions.php, which will then override the parent functions.php?

What about changes to modules, blocks, etc?

How to overwrite some of the pages of “Newspaper theme” to child theme as well as overwrite some of the pages of “td-composer plugin”?

I’m not using a child theme, just the Newspaper theme.

Thank you for the info, Catalin!

Yes indeed, this works with Newsmag theme itself, if I switch to it from my child theme. However, I don’t want to switch away from my child theme, because how otherwise can I customize category description, specific header/footer settings that aren’t covered by tagDiv plugin API?

I really wish your team could add more support for the child themes, or otherwise significantly expand the API, or perhaps at least add some hooks/filters for customizing minor sections of each page or template.

Hi

My topic was deleted and diverted to this one. The reply sent before doing so was….

Indeed there are some problems using the child them and WPBakery, Please check this topic for child theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/website-broke-after-update/ The reason for doing it was because users who wanted to use for example single images in WPBakery, couldn’t because the tagDiv composer affected the single images functionality.

So now when WPBakery is active and users wish to use it bot thre are still some problems, some elements will not be part of the composer, to prevent conflicts. If a different solution is found, this may change however.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Well its a big inconvenience and my website is suffering a lot from it. More over what you wrote doesnt apply to me because i dont use child themes. also i removed single images from my layout and it didnt work, i also removed everything except the sliders and that didnt help

My site is also broken. None of my images appear, the menu disappears when hovered over and my social media icon links are giant I didn’t even know I was using a child theme. That image link Calin posted doesn’t work.

Please, can you link again so I can fix it.

I replaced the child theme with that of 9.7.3, and it looks pretty good, but it puts the basic settings and if you try to change them from the theme panel (for example the post settings) it doesn’t change anything. Moreover wordpress 5.2 signals an error on index. so at the moment I reported everything at 9.7.2

Hi,

Pleas make sure that the code you set is as this one -> https://www.screencast.com/t/UxGwHgEtb3dS please do not add extra classes

Also please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Thank you!

Hi,

If you are using child theme, you need to replace the child theme that you are using with the one that came with Newspaper v9.7.3, or you can edit the functions.php from 1001 to 11 and it should work: https://image.prntscr.com/image/LJgOPaseQeWx88hn-pSKGQ.png just make sure that you clear all cache after you make those changes.

Hi,

In the most cases this was be a plugin conflict, please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Please make sure that after you deactivate all non theme plugins, you clear all cache and you delete the errors from google search console.

Thank you!

That’s unusual. Does it happen if you deactivate the child theme? try clearing the cache, and purge CDN if you use it. Also try to deactivate all non-theme plugins to see if it is a plugin conflict.

If nothing works we could take a look at it, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. Include a link to this topic in the email.
