Visual composer works as expected on our end with the new or with the old version. THe WP update has nothing to do with the issue itself. It could be a plugin that is not compatible with the new version of wp so please disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

Hi!
I just bought the theme and understand its features. Previously I used other thems with installation once installed a child theme. And activated just child theme for the changes to the site were preserved after updating the main theme. And how do you do?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. 🙂

If I desactivate Speed Booster, the problem persists. I think it’s not a problem with this plugin.

On some parts of the website I think it’s problem of the custom css, because first loads the original version and after a second it loads the custom one.

About the strange effect at loading the homepage, it happens on mobile and desktop, and I observed that first all the site is loaded boxed, and after a second it turns to full width.

As a conclusion, I think the problems are two:
1. The custom CSS
2. Plugin visual composer that loads boxed first, and then turns to full width

If I move the custom css to the theme original file, after updating the theme I will lose all the changes, because there is no child theme. Or am I wrong?

About the problem with visual composer that first loads boxed content, I don’t know how to solve it.

I hope you can help me. Thank you so much!

Hi, for my website I’m using the newspaper8 theme. When I started working with it, I tried the fashion and baby demo. Now I noticed that desktop users always see a kind of loading animation. The first thing to load is obviously a background image of a child which I actually never uploaded. At the same time an overlay (black/greyish) appears which then vanishes to the right side.

That loading animation does not only affect the loading speed, but also the usability. Please let me know how I can disable it without loosing all my content.

Link to the screenshot: https://ibb.co/giHfdR (which is hard to take as the loading animation is < 1 sec)

Thank you.

I bumped all the resources up previously to no avail. With the ability to child theme the ioSlider module, I am able to do what I need without Revolution Slider, for now anyway. Thanks.

It seems to be OK at first, but after editing text and then re-updating the page, the issue occurs.

I did try deactivating all plugins. The only plugins enabled are now:

  • tagDiv Composer (v1.0)
  • tagDiv Social Counter (v4.2)
  • WPBakery Page Builder (v5.4.3)

I also had a child theme installed (that was provided). So I am not longer using that, but the issue still exists.

Here is the page: https://newzjunky.dev.freshysites.com/contact/

Note, a Raw HTML element seems to keep the <br> tag, but the Text element doesn’t seem to keep and line breaks.

So I found we can modify move /Newspaper/includes/modules/td_module_slide.php to our child theme and changes do apply.

My question now is; where is this “tds_category_module_slide” set? I am unable to locate it in the post area. Please advise.

Hello,

Sorry but the mobile theme files will not work from the child theme. You will have to make your customization in the main theme files.

Thank you!

Hi,

There is a file where all the post functions are defined
https://www.screencast.com/t/E8eShodD
These functions are then called in each post template. But I believe the cleanest way to do what you want is to enter the code in the loop single files, in the position you want.
These files can be customized through a child theme as well, there is no problem there.

Thanks

Hi,

I want to modify the front-page and footer mobile theme files.

I’ve copied them to my child theme, but the files from the parent theme get loaded instead.

Is it possible to modify the mobile theme files without hacking the main theme files?

Hi,

Each post template has a corresponding loop single file (Ex: post template 2->loop-single-2.php) These files are located in the main theme folder
https://www.screencast.com/t/mhczc6hKSq4t
Editing one of the post template files you can see the post structure, enter the code where you want.
The page templates as well are found in the main theme folder, edit them as you wish
https://www.screencast.com/t/N7w6qnK3r
Copy the files in the child theme and customize them. This is a child theme tutorial

Thanks

Hello, I don’t know what happened, but two of my four social network icons are now missing (Pinterest and Twitter). I triple-checked the URLS, cleared my cache, deactivated my plugins, no CDN to possibly affect this, switched footer choices to see if that was the problem, logged off and logged back in, check with Twitter and Pinterest to make sure I was set up properly, changed from the child theme to the primary Newspaper theme to make sure the child theme didn’t have something to do with why this is no longer working, checked to make sure my theme was current…. ???

I hope you can assist me with this. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You could update it if you wish, or simply leave it as it is. There should be no problem caused by the child theme itself, the code you have inside it may not work properly and may require to be adapted. Elements form the theme may have been subject to change.
Make the theme update, and see if everything works properly. Please note that the tagDiv composer will be activated by default after you update the theme
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
This editor could cause issues with specific Visual composer elements. Deactivate it if that is the case.
As always please make a backup before updating

Thanks

Hi,

You will have to make this modifications in the main theme file, I believe it will not work in the child theme. These are the files that can be modified through a child theme at the moment

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry about that, a stronger code was needed. Glad you could find a working solution. The code can be entered in the theme custom code sections, in the theme panel
https://www.screencast.com/t/FhQWmkT7
Codes entered there will not be lost in case of theme update, they will be saved in the database.
Or if you use a child theme, you can enter the codes there
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Both these options are considered safe theme customization methods.

Thanks

In upgrading from Newspaper 7 to Newspaper 8, do I need to also update my Newspaper 7 child theme? If so, how do I do so to preserve any customizations?

Or will my child theme automatically work with the new Newspaper 8 theme?

Thanks Chris.. since I’m migrating to this theme most posts have the featured image. I added the function to a child page and styled it.

Hi, I made some changes to style.css and td-login-modal.php for social login feature. I didn’t create child theme as I heard it could make the site slow and made the changes directly on the default theme.
Just wonder is theme update automatic and how often it gets updated? I need to make updates manually every time theme gets updated. thanks!

Hi,

We provide a child theme sample, please check the /code folder from theme package that you download from themeforest – https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
Also follow the child theme documentation and see which file can be overwritten – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thanks!
