Hello modaestrat,
For more information about how the type of files can be overwritten with the child theme, please consult our useful guide here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ and please notice that not any file can be overwritten by the child theme, sorry! Each theme update will overwrite all the theme code and if you have some customization through these, all of these will be lost.
Thanks for the message!
Can I disable this using a child theme?
Will the fix you link to break after update?
I imagine after theme/plugin update, this workaround will no longer work or will have to be done again.
Hi,
Please try as a first step to disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear any caching installed then check to see if the widgets are displaying properly. I have not seen this problem before, if you insert a widget in the sidebar only once – https://www.screencast.com/t/wgQ7sBI24MTs I do not know why it would display twice. The widgets are not completely the same however – https://www.screencast.com/t/gtfwABXqKk
Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme files, or through a child theme if you use one. This issue is not happening on my end using only the plugins provided in the theme package, so maybe this is a result of a plugin conflict or theme modifications. Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Hi,
I have tested this using the custom structure you mentioned and it works properly. I do not get any errors of any kind. Maybe the problem is somewhere else, not this modification. If you could provide a link to your website pointing to this problem, I will inspect it.
You could try as a test to disable all plugins except Visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thanks
Hello,
Do you maybe have a user role editor plugin installed? Our theme does not offer any control over the content based on the user role.
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please use the child theme found in the main theme package you download from envato and this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Thank you!
Hello gmtrevor,
Sorry for the inconvenience, but this plugin has never been tested with the theme! Please keep in mind that neither RSS nor FB Instant Articles are not part of our tested plugins, sorry! As you can know, our theme is in a continuous development process and the theme code is changing. Notice that for each update, if you do not want to loose your customizations you should make a full backup or you should use the child theme because the update will overwrite the all theme code.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
Unfortunately at the moment these are the only files that can be modified through the child theme
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
The file in question is not part of the supported files from the booster folder, at the moment. The situation could change in future updates, but I could not say for sure if or when this will happen. You will have to make your modifications directly to the main file.
Thanks
Hello,
I was install my child theme but on theme wordpress said …
Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet.
How to fix ? should I insert all file on parent theme ? or only insert file with modification?
Thanks
Jetpack causes a LOT of problems with *all* themes except those that come with WordPress, or which are based on the default themes (child themes, etc.). Generally Jetpack should never be used with any theme running visual composer unless you have dedicated server or VPS.
Hi again.
Can i do the change in the child theme?
This is very important.
Thanks.
Hi,
Please try and deactivate the child theme, and check if the mobile theme is working properly. If it does maybe you have code in the child theme that is somehow interfering with the mobile theme. In that case you need to verify the code that you have in the child theme files.
Here you can find a guide about creating a child theme
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
This could also be caused by a plugin, you could try to deactivate all your plugins except Visual composer and the mobile theme, clear any caching installed then check again to see if it has any effect.
Also make sure you are using the latest version of the plugins bundled in the theme package.
If you could provide a link to your website, we will inspect it and try to identify a cause.
Thanks
Hi.
I have created a child theme and the mobile version is not working.
I get this message in the WP admin:
The TagDiv Mobile Theme is not supported by the current activated theme. Please update your theme!
File message: wp-content/plugins/td-mobile-plugin/td-mobile-plugin.php
and this in the public site version (mobile):
The mobile theme path couldn’t be set. Please check if you already have another mobile theme plugin active and disable it (ex. Jetpack Mobile Theme or similar). If you use a cache plugin clear it before checking the results.
How can i enable the Mobile theme in the Chil theme?
Thnx in advance
Hi,
That depends on how you have made these customization. If you made them directly to the theme files, you will lose them unfortunately, unless you take note of them and make them again after the update. Modifications made through a child theme will not be lost. If you have custom code in the theme panel, you can save that and enter it after the update process. Here is a guide to help you with the update
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
You can always make a backup for the website, just to be on the safe side.
I do not know what could be causing this issue, if you ruled out any plugin conflicts or caching issues. Disregarding the token issue from the previous version of the social counter plugin, there have not been any other problems with the plugin. Try removing the social counter from the page structure and add it again and configure it, to see if this has any effect.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Hello,
Our theme comes with a starting child theme found in the main theme package: https://www.screencast.com/t/IseAQl13UHrE
It works just as you describe but you must use he style.css provided. You do not need to move all of teh style.css content though as you will see the file only contains these lines: https://www.screencast.com/t/xo6Grn0yldN
FOr more information on the child theme please use this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Thank you!

I’ll create a child theme and go about hacking the CSS for my own needs.
I’m pretty sure it’s not that difficult.
Hello,
Why this theme doesn’t work with child theme as any other theme? Is it absolutely necessary to copy whole style.css to the child theme instead of inserting there only required classes?
Cheers,
All my custom post types are using Module 1 (300 x 160 thumb) and i need to change them to module 11.
How can i do that? (I’m working on a child theme).
Hmm.. Would have been nice if you’ve added it to your product description, somewhere. At least then people who’re planning to buy the product would know in-advance that’s it’s fixed width.
I purchased this theme today expecting perhaps there would be an responsive option to make the page wider. I didn’t expect it to be absolutely fixed. I’d really would like it to be slightly wider, ideally 1124/1140px if possible. If I set about customizing the theme’s stock CSS with a child theme, would it be possible to make it run at a specification I prefer? OR would this simply break the sites functionality? Does all the other elements have a fixed width or are they bound by percentages? Taking all 3 columns to be 100%?
Kind Regards
Nikita

Hello Peter,
This could be a plugin conflict causing the issue. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!

Hello,
The this is another issue. You have a plugin that is no longer compatible in the current version. Untested plugin can become incompatible on an update even if they worked properly in a previous version.

Hello nkodgh,
Unfortunately, notice that each customization will be overwritten in next future update, sorry! If you want to avoid this, you should try using the child theme for your file where you want to make some changes. For more information about this, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Thanks for the message!
