Hello,

In order to change the categories displayed in a block you will have to use the block settings. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
If you cannot access the visual composer editor or create a new page, then it could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

Hi,

1. The settings related to discussions are located here – https://www.screencast.com/t/yJSIZvrlkwg If you would like to send automatic notifications, like emails to users bases on comment replies, I am sure that you could probably find a plugin with that capability, suitable for your project.

2. You can try a code like this to further align the socials in the footer (you can change the value to whatever you think is working for you)
https://www.screencast.com/t/nfb3IcLdEqE

.footer-social-wrap span:first-child {
padding-left: 30px;
}

3. From what I can see you have custom code affecting some elements on your pages, regarding font and font properties. Maybe that is why this is happening. You can try as a test to remove this code and check again.

For all the other issues that you are having, please check the theme system status and make the necessary modifications if needed to these parameters – https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ because this could be the cause of these kind of problems. Also some problematic plugins can sometimes be the cause for this to happen.

Thanks

Hello,

The front-end editor was disabled in our theme so you can only use the back-end editor.
Your issue could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hello,

I updated the theme on a staging site (https://stefaniephan.staging.wpengine.com). Settings in the theme panel are not showing up on the front end.

For example, I have set the main menu to be always sticky but on the front end it’s not showing up. Wpengine advised that certain fonts were not coming over https (I’m not sure what that means) and to contact the theme developer.

Also, at the bottom of the home page I get this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined method td_util::vc_set_column_number() in /nas/content/staging/stefaniephan/wp-content/themes/newspaper-child/parts/footer/td_footer_template_1.php on line 17

Could you please advise?

Thanks.

Hello dimmisel,

In order to achieve the best results after you will install the latest update you have to follow some rigorous steps like this -> you have to delete both of your themes, child theme, and main theme. All your customizations from your Newspaper 4 theme will do not work because all the files from this were changed in Newspaper 7.8 and as the main theme and also you lose all changes.

The Newspaper 7.8 is a whole new theme so an update from 4 to 7.8 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible).

Always make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come bundled with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings.

The shortcodes have been changed so old ones will not work anymore. Please note that old files customization or custom CSS will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust or re-add them.

Bottom line is that newspaper 7.8 is a whole new theme built from scratch.
Unfortunately, you will have to clear your agenda and spare a bit of time to adjust all your settings to the new version of the theme.

If you have already Newspaper 6 and you want only to do the update to latest version, you should make this without any problem. All your customization are recorded in the database which is not affected by this update.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hi Team,

I’ve just updated my newspaper theme sent by themeforest. Before that, I was using v7.7.1. I did have Background color set to Grey. After updating to v7.8, my blocks on homepage are become on edges which are clearly visible that there is no padding between the Grey background color and block’s title, content and thumb images.

It seems too ugly now. Please help me how to correct it/add padding or something wrong I’ve done?
I am also using Child theme, where there are lot of customization I already have.

Thanks,

Hi,

Try as a test to switch to the main theme from the child theme, and check if the problem is still there. If it is not, it means that you will have to check the code in the child theme and see what could be causing this. Also this could happen because of some plugin, so you can try disabling them all except the ones bundled with the theme, clear any caching installed and see if the issue persists. If you cannot solve this, please provide a link to your website pointing to the problem, so we can take a look and try to give you a solution.

Thanks

Hello,

The settings in the theme panel will not be lost. If you alter the theme files, then you will loose the customization as files get replaced when updating. IF you use a child theme, the files will not get replaced automatically but if you made customization in the child theme you should check if the file was modified in the theme update as you will have to update the file in the child theme and re-apply your customization to the new version of the file. You cannot serve an old file from your child theme with old code when the theme requires the new code to work.

Thank you!

Hello,

The menu does not work due to the js errors in your browser console: https://www.screencast.com/t/2nNF7U79k

It sure would be nice to be able to override the mobile theme templates in a child theme f.x. or to have the option to do so in the accompanying plugin. I really like the mobile theme but small changes I need in the single post template (members only articles) are really complicating working with it, I have already made the changes in the main mobile theme files but now an update would break/revert my changes.

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no option at the moment to change the width of the theme. This kind of modification can only be done with custom code – https://www.screencast.com/t/NAJmeIXPjWqt modifying the theme files directly or through a child themehttps://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Please note that if you choose to use the mobile theme plugin, the sidebar set on desktop will not be displayed on mobile – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ but if you are not, the sidebar will be displayed after the article in the post page.
Maybe some options for changing the width of the theme will be made available in future updates, but I can not say for sure if or when this will happen. The theme is in a continuous development process, and each update is meant to improve it and we take in account our users requests.

Thank you for understanding!

Hello, Bogdan B.!

I have deactivated all plugins and the images are displayed properly after that.

Now, I´ve activated all plugins except the “tagDiv Social Counter” and the images continues to be displayed properly: “tagDiv Social Counter” plugin is the problem.

1 – I don´t use a child theme, and the install is clear of custom codes. I´ve installed WordPress and after that installed the TagDiv’s Newspapper Theme.

“tagDiv Social Counter” has a new version? cause i need this plugin working.

Hello,
It seems your images are stuck in opacity 0. This usually happens on a js error caused by plugins or customization or other external optimization tools.
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hello,
the theme panel is not saving settings anymore. When I click on SAVE SETTINGS the OK symbol appears, as it should, but after I refresh the page everything remains as it was before.
I’ve already tried:
1) disabling cache on my browser
2) disabling all plugins
3) switching from the child-theme to the main theme (all my widgets sidebar settings are lost :'( )
4) updating the theme to the latest version
5) increasing my WP_MEMORY_LIMIT to 96MB
6) updated my .htaccess file following the guide here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Plus, I’ve noticed when I use HTTPS connection on my website the theme settings goes on loop: when I click on SAVE SETTINGS the theme keeps loading infinitely: http://i66.tinypic.com/11ad4q0.png

Although I have Global medicine child theme I can see the style of tags cloud in Default demo template, in https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/tag/wordpress/
But in my child theme the tags cloud (below in http://chilecientifico.cl/chilecientifico/2017/03/22/microbiota-desarrollo-y-crecimiento/) the tags are without costumize and words are all in same size. How can I costumize it?
