Hi ,
I can see they show up fine now: http://screencast.com/t/NukfjG6PHv
This could happen due to theme’s lazy load animation which might conflict not work properly with cloudflare’s rocket loader as Steven stated. If this happens again you can check your browser’s console for js errors or disable the lazy load animation from theme penal: http://screencast.com/t/MJ6jJisx and test again.
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
I have nailed it down to CDN for beginning, once CloudFlare CDN disabled, search box and slide menu started to work – so my question here, what could be in CloudFlare causing this, as I would really like to use this CDN? I tried with RocketLoader off, with JS/CSS/HTML minify off settings – but no good – as soon as CloudFlare CDN on – menu and search stop working 🙁
Next thing I managed to find out is minification plugin “WP Optimize By xTraffic” – it is a great plugin, it made me go to 100/100 in demo theme – but it causes iPhone Ajax issues.
This plugin minifies everything, as well it makes CSS and JS load Async. Great stuff – but if I can not use it, what do you suggest to use for minification and async load of CSS and JS?
Thanks!
Hi,
I’ve removed CloudFlare completely. Still it doesn’t work:
http://futeboltube.com/
This is not a theme issue,if you have “RocketLoader” from cloudFlare turn on then turn it off it don’t work well with the theme… and those images should show after…
Hi Guys
I need help optimising my website – I recently upgraded to cloudflare pro in a bid to increase the pagespeed but I am yet to get the right config. I need help with the present page score which is presently at 64%.
http://www.screencast.com/t/MJvoDvkdc
I presently use the following plugin what is your recommendation with:
1. wp super cache
2. Ad Inserter Plugin
I use the ad inserter plugin for my adsense to align side by side. I am trying to use as less plugin as I can use, can the internal Ad setting in the theme panel do the following:
http://www.screencast.com/t/vFs4obpq
http://www.screencast.com/t/7HlbzLT7UC
3. Do you have compatibility issues with the WPML plugin – what is your recommendation with using it.
Thanks, hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Alin,
I have disabled all plugins, including cache plugins (meaning no minification or caching exists any more), cleared server cache and CloudFlare CDN cache too, but problem still persists.
On two iPhone 6 devices menu can not open and search too, as well as all Ajax links to categories.
On my desktop computer, when I open developer console and than mobile mode, these things works.
Can you test on your mobile device – http://dev.fokus.ba
Thanks!
Hello! When I try to upload an image with the plugin “thumbnail upscale” activated i only get an error, i have tp refresh the page and then i’ll find the image correctly uploaded.
Here’s the errore i get:
Warning: imagecreatetruecolor(): Invalid image dimensions in /public/wp-includes/media.php on line 2128
Warning: imagecopyresampled() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /public/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor-gd.php on line 198

I already checked some basic stuff: there’s enough memory allocated to WP, the file format is supported and correctly named, i don’t use anything like photon (i’m testing on a clean install) or Cloudflare. When the plugin is deactivated the error goes away. Also, the problem doesn not replicate if i switch to TwentyFifteen.
Can you please help me? Thanks.
What you’ve described makes sense …
However, I added it at the bottom of the existing custom code for my site, and I’m not seeing any change.
Your continued assistance will be most welcome.

Hi
Try to deactivate all plugins, clear all caches, purge cdn files and deactivate cloudflare’s rocket loader tool and test again.
If the problem persist please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your site’s login details and we will inspect this issue, also include a link to this topic.
Thanks!
After hard work now I am online at
http://www.panorama.com.al/
but my website is slow.
1-I have dedicated server
2-I have chache (WP Super chache)
3- I use your plugin speed booster
4- I have cloudflare
and my website is slow.
I have problems with I plugin also
It is named TOP 10 and now I have disabled it but I need to use it.
Please let me know how to make website faster, and
how to resolve the top 10 plugin issuee.
Thank you in advance!
I can’t seem to solve or make progress on my Newspaper Theme performance issues.
I’ve got five friends that want to use Newspaper, too, if only I can get past my performance issues.
(They’re new bloggers, they like the idea of the theme, they’re a bit worried about my inability to fix my performance issues, or to find someone who can.)
My performance sucks (in the 40’s) with no clear remedy in sight.
Worse, when users hit my site the first time, the page loads blank (no images show)
If they reload the home page, then images show the second time, but after a flash of gray.
Here are screen shots:
* Empty Images – http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/509260/1ae034f2ac380576a5dd1d8e49faed92
* On Reload – http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/509262/dd0893dd0a1944de6aab6f0a9591e297
I haven’t seen anybody else’s site load like mine, where it’s all framed out with gray placeholders, and then, as if a second flash, the images then show up.
Here’s my setup at a glance:
* I’m hosting on Siteground.
* I use WP Rocket which is tested with Siteground — just default options.
* I’m using a CDN (Cloudflare), with default options.
* I have Gzip working.
* I use WP Smush Pro to smush all images (all images are smushed.)
* I used P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) to analyze plugin performance.
I contemplated W3 cache (well, In installed it, but it was immediate conflict with WP Rocket, and WP Rocket’s feature compare shows superior in all regards, but I don’t have enough experience yet to know of it’s true.)
I get Chris’s point on the difference between buying a car, and driving the car. Well, now I want to know how to drive like the Mario Andretti. I feel like I’ve got the “owner’s Guide”, but not the “Driver’s Guide”. But actually, I don’t want yet another guide, I want a student driver model where I pay a consultant to show me the ropes for a couple of hours while fixing things, looking over my shoulder, or me looking over theirs.)
My images are probably the main problem, I don’t know how to fix them without doing weird acts of God, and I’m trying to keep posting simple and pragmatic, not build a better mouse trap with weird optimizations and even weirder workflow.

Tips

I’ve seen these tips:
* Chris S – Additionally, I use the WP-Optimize plugin to regularly optimize my WP dbase. Cutting 800kb out of your dbase once a week, or after a large number of posts/pages, also speeds up your system overhead. https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/what-is-your-googlespeed-value/

* Chris S – – There are numerous resources on the net to learn how to set-up your web server account for gzip, expiration headers, optimize your images prior to uploading to your site, editing your htaccess file for WordPress, limiting use of resource hogging plugins unless absolutely necessary, etc., using W3cache with the minimal settings recommended in this forum from Radu/Marius (( QUOTE: w3 total cache use only the ‘full page cache.’ )) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/pagespeed/
* Radu – On the demo we are running a stock theme with our stock speed booster plugin! Also note that any additional plugins slow the theme down and lower the score in pagespeed. – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/what-is-your-googlespeed-value/

I’ve used these tools

* Pingdom Tools – reality test – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bGth8K/sourcesofinsight.com
* Web Page Test – http://www.webpagetest.org/
Google tells me my page speed sucks. Is Compression Working tells me Gzip is working. Pingdom tells me my images are bloated. GTMetrix fails with a 522 timeout and blames my CDN.
The quote that keeps me going is:
“Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
I guess I’m getting stronger day by day.

Hi Alin,
Yes problem persists. (in the previous message i forget to say that mobile versione works fine )
I’m right now cloning the production environment to do some more test. If you want i can give you admin access to that test environment.
I also disable caching plugin (my hosting is siteground that have a custom cache plugin: SG Cachepress) and disabled cloudflare CDN

Also, forgot to say that images are a factor to large loading speeds too, and people ignore the fact that keeping the images around the exact same size as the others on the website would help and keep them lower than 1080p size. Most of mine are 1024 x 576. few are tiny bit bigger, but that was before I did the 1024 x 576.
Sorry, but cloudflare is free and paid. Not all paid. I did not say to use WP Rocket either, I said I used it. That means as an example use a caching plugin. I like how my words get twisted easily. The point is saving money, but you took it as paying money instead.
Not trying to be rude, but experts do not know everything and can’t fix everything when paying them either, is another point.

Well “page loading time” is only one element of optimization; there is also Google’s PageSpeed which can impact ranking for mobile users and how well your site will be shown in SERPS. That is one of the main reasons to “optimize” a site — “speed loading” is one aspect while “speed rating” is another. So, obviously WP Rocket and Cloudflare help by re-writing pages for clients, but not everybody wants to pay for those services.
For example my business site has a UX score of 100/100. Desktop 97/100. Mobile 96/100. Avg. page load 1.2 sec with https and no CDN or caching plugin on top. That matters. While various solutions exist, DIY, outsource, or paid service to rewrite pages dynamically — one needs to do something.
So, obviously folks need to research what fits their needs the best.
All great info in the thread as I’m sure the newbies will find it of interest. 🙂
Not to be bringing any argument here, but I just have WP Rocket and Cloudflare running with just normal settings in them and no tweaks to the theme and I get a loading of 1.5 seconds average. I did not look or use Chris recommendations. So not all experts make it easy either. Nothing against you Chris. Sometimes experts try to get as much out of their customers and they don’t care either. So I rather know the stuff and DIY way. Not even using the speed booster plugin.
Did not want to hijack the thread, just add two cents to it.

Hello, my site was working great until I updated it to Newspaper 6 (from Newspaper 4). I resized all images, I created an entire new CloudFront, removed caching, reinstalled caching, etc, switched out the entire theme files twice, and still it’s not displaying properly.
When I create a new page, it works great, for about three page loads, and then it goes back to this. The site is at http://www.danoah.com.
Screenshot of one block (block 6) is here (many different blocks are messed up): http://journalthis.danoah.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/14153217/screenshot1.png.
It seems this all happened when I ran the “update script” from the welcome screen.
Thanks, your help is much appreciated.

hi,
I’ve inserted the WP Tag Cloud on a page but it’s showing the title even though it’s not entered. How can I remove it?

Also, how can I change the colour of the search button?

Pretty sure; I have caching, Cloudflare, etc. turned off for now while I develop the site. Oh well!
Hi,
I’ve checked your site on pagespeed and gtmetrix and the server response time is high. The optimization is good but the page load time is too high – http://screencast.com/t/UThrBPlUO
You could try to use a CDN, we recommend Cloudflare – https://www.cloudflare.com/
Also check the error.log file to see if there’s a something related to this behavior.
Thank you!
I’m having a little trouble getting my Ad Glare code to work in the header. I’ve removed autominify and disabled the rocket loader in cloud flare too. No luck.
The Ad Glare code displays in the other zones, however.
The site in question is beta.ynaija.com
This solved: cloudflare off: Rocket Loader
thanks..
Andrei, I have tried turning off CloudFlare’s Rocket Loader and Auto Minify and everything else (turning off the plugins, like Hyper Cache). But the issue persists. I think it’s definitely a Newsmag 2.1 buggy. I sent the email. Thanks for the support!
