Wow. 7 seconds is a lifetime ! It might be due to running a proxy? A lot of folks running nginx (we’re running Apache, and then nginx for SOME things not all) seem to run through a proxy, and that might cause the issue. Perhaps check amount of memory allocated to PHP ? I think mine is set to 512MB, with 256M being typically the best lower limit for WP these days. I think you already checked that.

If you can see a noticeable slowdown running that just from the server, two things you might try is a traceroute between the API IP and your DNS, and/or check with your hosting provider to explain the issue. It might be something they have run across before.

Or it could be some weirdo voodoo thing like why my stupid Font Awesome 4 CSS don’t load consistently off Amazon’s CDN, or from the free CDN that also hosts bootstrap. Gave up on that one 🙂

Turns out it was the theme. I just set the “is_streched_bg” value (in the td_background.php file) to false in a couple of places I saw it being used, and now the background looks perfect.

After trying to set the background size to a 211px * 211px width using CSS (so that it doesn’t stretch across the whole screen and become blurry), I found out the CSS wasn’t working even with a !important tag next to it.

So I just looked through the PHP files to see where the settings file is generating this stretch or no stretch CSS which I didn’t need, and disabled it.

If anyone else has this issue they could do the same thing. Just know that the “Stretch Background” option in the theme customizer will not work.

You should be able to modify the blockquote to look however you wish, using CSS, as we did.

E.g.,

hi,
we created wp-booster plugin to have a bigger google pagespeed result, what it duos, is moving the css and javascript files in the footer of the page.

the bad news about wp-booster plugin is that is known to make the theme not function properly, an issue we are still investigate. also is compatible with only a couple of plugins (wp supper cache, Seo by Yost, tagDiv social counter).

my advise is to disable all the plugins but WP Super Cache, tagDiv social counter, contact 7. it should work.

I think you can try

on the div(s) where the code is being inserted in the template(s) …
which is the bootstrap 3 style class (may already be in the style.css, not sure).

You can’t “style” the elements inside the AdSense iframe/text/graphic on the site. You *can* center the location it is placed inside of a div.

the problem is the CSS rule in style.css

In line 484 the body > iframe {display: none; } hides the profile modal iframe that Disqus uses to display user profiles.

As to the other problem, “the comment bubble is not a link to lead to the comment section of the post”. can you check it?

AH! Digg Digg likely had a CSS conflict or a JavaScript element not updated, or which was being inserted into the page but not being enqueued, or one of those funky gremlins. Whew!

I hate that kind of stuff.

One of my friends has a site using JetPack, where the the related stories thing kept giving him “too many connections” errors and printing that in the story box – not very fetching as a related story. Turned out is was conflict with the AddThis “Layers” plugin being used for the slider/sticky sidebar social icons (same idea as Digg Digg). Weird.

That bit of code to “sticky” stuff on left side, on any bootstrap related theme might be a recurring culprit, methinks.
