Hello,
i intalled newspaper9 today and i think there are some icons missing. i imported the black version content. but there are some details missing – like the icons and header backgrounds.
example: https://handballbundesliga.com/
pass: sgsk
is there a way to get the icons and i think the css – without importing the whole content again?
The Category Archive pages include whatever description text I enter when I create the category, but I’d like to be able to style that text – currently it’s in italics. I can’t find an easy way to do this from within the theme panel, does this require custom CSS?
The css for the logo does not affect my site. Even new posts get cached with a smaller vesion of the logo from google. Any other ideas ?
Best regards
Is there a way to remove unused CSS? Google Pagespeed tells me to remove it. Which theme files should I edit without destroying the template.
Best regards
How do I use this CSS option? Will you please guide me through
Hello!
I did what you said but it doesn’t work.
I wrote the code in the custom CSS, copying it from yours. but it does not work.
Hi,
There is no need for any kind of css for your mobile menu. The menu that you have set do not have sub-menus on mobile theme -> https://www.screencast.com/t/M3wKAO8VoM3a ( notice that if you have a mega menu this will not be display in mobile theme as on desktop, the sub-menu of mega menu will not show ), also you can create a new menu for mobile theme and set in it the pages/post you want -> https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
For footer you can try this custom css -> https://www.screencast.com/t/s6PkHD5Qi
.td-mobile-footer-wrap{
display: none
}
The code need to be set in https://www.screencast.com/t/GlDtNriqXR
Thank you!
Hello !
To edit some of the CSS from our elements can be done using the tagDiv Composer as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/w7v9UdbkYS52 or you can use the inspector tool and edit it.
Any css custom code should be pasted in here: https://www.screencast.com/t/hUADXDMA0
I hope this was helpfull !

Hi,
Since Newspaper v9.7 the child theme is working only for the functions.php and style.css files.
We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
if you want you can try the implementation for the child theme provide by an user in this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/issue-with-9-7-update-changes-single_template_-in-child-theme/
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
Our hosting is being upgraded from 7.1 to PHP 7.3 — we have no choice in this.
We’ve been testing under 7.3 and it seems to work OK, but I see a few PHP notices in our logs:
PHP Notice: Undefined index: td_action in /www/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/css-live/css-live.php on line 30 when calling load_css_live(), request: POST /wp-json/td-composer/save_post?uuid=d3e44293-be63-b604-a390-de4c4db69833, request_id: fd9c7092f6fe56f5b1ce67b29af644a8
PHP Notice: compact(): Undefined variable: tcp in /www/presslabs/db.php on line 689 when calling compact(), request: POST /wp-json/td-composer/save_post?uuid=d3e44293-be63-b604-a390-de4c4db69833, request_id: fd9c7092f6fe56f5b1ce67b29af644a8
PHP Notice: Undefined index: action in /www/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_ajax.php on line 89 when calling tdc_on_save_post(), request: POST /wp-json/td-composer/save_post?uuid=d3e44293-be63-b604-a390-de4c4db69833, request_id: fd9c7092f6fe56f5b1ce67b29af644a8
PHP Notice: Undefined index: tdbTemplateType in /www/wp-content/plugins/td-cloud-library/includes/tdb_functions.php on line 934 when calling require_once(), request: POST /wp-json/td-composer/get_header_templates?uuid=0c592d16-88eb-343a-1ea3-ce91699d952b, request_id: af8f94f958948f35820b6c1af00aeb07
These seem all related to live editing using REST-API. It looks like I am able to edit and save post content in TD Composer and the normal WP editor without errors.
Could you please advise whether these issues would be affecting site operation in any meaningful way?
I understand you recommend 7.2 at this point, but as I said, we are being upgraded to 7.3 so we need to know what the effects of these issues are.
Also, I see the theme has been certified for 7.2 for more than a year but is still not certified for 7.3. When will that be happening?
Thanks,
Peter.
Fixed it. Keep the custom CSS code, delete Cache with a Cache plugin, deactivate plugin.
I want to customize the css of one widget. How do I find the ID?
Hi
The child theme functionality has been broken since the update of the core for the Envato WordPress requirements. Can you please fix this? You can search fo “child” in the comments in the link below to see that a number of us depend on child themes for customization. I have pasted an excerpt from those comments below, in which I was advised to contact support.
Thanks

That doesn’t seem to be true, Catalin. Envato requires that the child theme “Consist of style.css, functions.php and screenshot.png files at a minimum” … but you’re not *disallowed* from including/supporting other files in the child theme.
Seriously, if you stop supporting child themes — where we can edit the single.php (or loop-single.php) file (for example), that decision will mark the day that Newspaper starts going downhill as a theme.
On https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000480723 Envato references https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/ … which says, “any file you add to your child theme will overwrite the same file in the parent theme” … but with the current version of your theme, this doesn’t work. Adding (and tweaking) the theme’s header.php file to the child theme does nothing.
BECAUSE YOU BROKEN THE CHILD THEME FUNCTIONALITY.
Your statement that “Envato … requires all functionality to be added through plugins” is, to be direct, false. Stop lying to us and once again provide full support for child themes. For the sake of your business, as well as ours.

Hi Ted,
Sorry for the inconvenience but please note that since theme update 9.7 most of the theme files have been moved in the tagDiv Composer plugin, as you can see in our informative article. Now, the child theme is limited to just a few files. This is a consequence of the recent modifications to the location of theme files, due to Envato requirements, sorry! Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins. The child theme inherits the look and feels of the parent theme and all of its functions. Where all the functionalities of the theme have been added into a plugin, the child theme no longer has what to get from the parent theme, sorry! The child theme is not a “child plugin”.
Thank you for your understanding!
Best regards!

I have to say I agree with Ted Slater’s comments. I didn’t research your claims, but it does seem unlikely that Envato would require theme developers to disable the Child theme functionality. Please find a solution so that the Child theme will function as it should.
Catalin L.Catalin L. June 26, 2019 at 8:11 am
Hi,
According to Envato Requirements, the child theme is not mandatory to be offered. Also, if this is provided by the theme author, must be checked the following requirements, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/JkRUP9LI -> https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000480723-WordPress-Theme-Feature-Requirements#h_5966589781211522283728890 which are valid.
Thank you for your understanding!
AvatarK.Y. June 30, 2019 at 5:31 pm
Hi Catalin,
You may not be required to supply a child theme but that does not mean it is acceptable to break the functionality should your users choose to use one.
Please see – https://forums.envato.com/t/is-child-theme-functionality-obsolete-with-the-new-theme-requirements/244151
“Envato requirements have no negative effect over child themes, quite opposite, they encourage you to follow the best standards which makes customization via a child theme much more easier as a result.”
It seems that you have completely misunderstood the Envato requirements.
Using child themes is a standard practice and a best practice that WP users rely on. Please find a solution so that the child theme will function as it should.

Hello !
You will have to use a css with the display: none; option. Unfortunately at the moment there is no other way in hiding ads on certain pages / posts.
We are sorry for the inconvenience!
Thank you !

Okay great! I will leave the css alone then. Yes, you’re right Vlad, that code above was a code another TagDiv Newspaper support rep gave me months before.
Hi,
If the ads are in pages you can edit the page and remove the ads.
If the ads are in widget sidebars in posts and pages, maybe create sidebars without ads and set them.
If the ads are in the post content (top, inline or bottom ad spots) the theme does not have settings for specific posts. All it has are general settings to hide them per device
– https://www.screencast.com/t/g6L9YSkB
Hiding them with CSS is permitted by Google when using media queries
– https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/6307124?hl=en
Setting a display:none without media queries is forbidden by Google
– https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/1354736?hl=en
For header ads you can use two header templates, ( both from tagDiv Cloud library, or only one with out ads ), you need to have set a global header for all pages/post and an individual one on the pages where you do not want to have the ads.
Take the Tour to Explore the New Header Manager -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-customize-the-header-manager/
What you can do is to set a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library with out ads and make a copy of this template and set ads in it for the post were you want to have ads ( the ads in single post template can be set using tagDiv Composer -> https://www.screencast.com/t/dYEh4nIv you can set as many ads you want using the ad box -> https://www.screencast.com/t/IiAlsDAT -> https://www.screencast.com/t/7ua8g3oti).
Maybe use a plugin such as Adrotate to better manage the ads in the website. There are many theme users that recommend this plugin. I believe it has settings for what you have to do per specific posts.
Some more about it here if you should consider it

Hi
If you want to change the font only on the smart list post number, then you’ll need to use a custom css
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/YhoofRnA
For smart list 2 ( https://www.screencast.com/t/aosWId1Xr ) the code is
.td_smart_list_2 .td-sml-current-item-nr{
font-family: Gothic;
}
if you are using other smart list style, just change the number of smart list.
Thank you!

Hi,
Unfortunately, the theme does not have any such an option that allows you to disable the footer for a specific page, sorry! In that case, if you want to achieve something like this, you will need to use a bit of custom CSS code and hide the footer section for a specific page, using the page ID. Here is a simple example -> https://www.screencast.com/t/DqPb7vnMnjJ Using this page ID, you will have to hide the footer like this ->
.page-id-310 .td-footer-container{
display:none;
}
Hope this helps!
Thank you!
Hi,
You can try using the code below and place it in Theme panel -> Custom CSS Area.
@media(max-width:767px){
#td-mobile-nav .td-social-icon-wrap i {
font-size: 20px;
}
}
The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/8m9e5QhqB
Thank you!
Hi,
1. Please add this custom css code in order to activate your dropdown menu arrows:
.td-mobile-content .td-icon-menu-right {
display: inline-block;
}
The code need to be set in Theme panel> Custom code> Custom css
2. Please provide me a link where I can inspect your mobile footer, in this way I will be able to provide you a custom css that will work.
Thank you!
Hello !
Unfortunately you cannot use the Mobile theme only for the posts. But thank you for your suggestions !
For the question 2 and 3 here you have the codes:
.td-module-meta-info {
text-align: center;
}
.td-post-category {
background-color: red;
}
.td-big-grid-meta {
text-align: center;
}
The result is this: https://www.screencast.com/t/H6LLaCmonZu
You will have to paste the code here: https://www.screencast.com/t/50DXzDyAIL
And for the first question please point out what text would you like to change because that requires custom css code and it would be hard to change all the text.
I hope this was helpfull !
Thank you !
I switched from the default Footer Style 1 (in which the social icons in the 3rd box were properly aligned in the center of their boxes) to Footer Style 5, and now the social icons are floating at the top of their boxes instead of being vertically centered. Could not find in the CSS where to fix this, please help! (brightcolormom.com)
