Hi,

If you mean a list of blocks or grids a demo uses, there is no such list. I can help you if you are having trouble identifying the elements used. Mention what demo you are referring to and what section.
All the demo homepages are included in the theme package. Example
https://www.screencast.com/t/SRkl3n4C
Similar topic – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wish-about-the-demo/
Please correct me if I misunderstand.

Hi,

The comment count can be disabled in general in the theme panel
https://www.screencast.com/t/JTw8BLXSifB
It could be removed for specific blocks and show on others, that could be done with a CSS code. I will provide you with a solution if you will mention the respective block/blocks.

The big grids and full big grids have 7 styles to choose from, for example
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-4/
But there is no style that would display the post title below the thumbnail at this moment. The title will be displayed in various positions according to style, but on the thumbnail.

Hello haqemcom,

It seems to be strange! If you will check our demo here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ic40TECMF you will see that the logo works as expected on AMP version. Most likely, the problem is only at your website, unfortunately! I suggest you make a new fresh install to another sub-domain for testing with the latest version of the theme installed via FTP way, use only the required plugins, clear all the caches and check the results. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, try to disable all of these, clear all the caches and check the results.

Thanks for your understanding!

Yes, in the demo you can see it, but I mean that it comes reflected which is the name of the widgets block or another block that is being used. Unless the block that is used in each demo or specify on a page the types of block views with their names is marked. It would help a lot in saving time in case of widgets that can not be viewed live and thus not play double screen to see the result.

Hi,

@havardkrislok The child theme is useful if you want to modify theme files mainly, so if you plan to do that you can use it. The guide mentioned what files are supported to be modified in the child theme.
More information about child themes can always be found online
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/wordpress-child-theme-pros-cons/
https://www.wordpressdepartment.com/wordpress-child-theme-pros-cons-wordpress-child-theme/

For CSS customization for example, there are custom code sections in the theme panel
https://www.screencast.com/t/1ION93IaM

The guide mentions where you can find the child theme
https://www.screencast.com/t/tuvJrGHeC7
This child theme has to be installed like any normal theme and activated. It is provided ready to be uploaded by FTP, if you want to install it with WordPress you must zip it first
https://www.screencast.com/t/UqeFIgH8s

For demos please check here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/demos_introduction/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
These demos will install for the theme, in no relation to having a child theme or not. They can be uninstalled or switched at any time. If a demo is uninstalled the website will be as it was before installing it.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Thanks

Not with that demo widget, but you could search for some date and time widgets with more customization options so you can display what you want.

I am trying to take advantage of the shortcode features but they are not available in the WP editor menu. I only see insert video and List End as options. I have installed the Newspaper Demo version and built my site around that.

Hi. I’m completely new to WordPress, themes and especially child themes. It is very hard to understand where to begin, but I understand installing a child theme is generally recommended if one need to add code later. But I have more questions than answers. The child theme “tutorial” is not very useful for a beginner, like how do I install one? https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ I’ve tried uploading it like I did with the “main” newspaper theme (newspaper.zip), but I don’t find a zip file named “childtheme.zip” or similar. I only find a folder named “Newspaper-child” with the files functions.php and styles inside. Do I upload theese files? I have a lot of beginner questions like: Can I still use one of the included demos to start? But I don’t find any help in the documentation. Tips where to start? Don’t want to install one of the demos in the “main” theme and start changing them before I understand how I can safely build the site without risking losing custom settings, content etc.

Thanks for the feedback, I need to get my staging site ftp access to address this. I am assuming aside form preset styles, there is no downside to using the demo to build off of? I decided to not use a child theme either because I want to stick with what is available trying to make site as fast as possible.

Any thoughts on the shortcode drop down issue? I am assuming i should have started two threads and am happy to do so if you would like.

Thanks again.

Hello,

I believe you might have the magazine demo installed
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_magazine/
Note that this demo has the custom design for the block titles, all the demos contain custom design. If you would like to have default block header design, remove the customization.

Hi,

That would be the business demo widget, that is custom made to display as it is
https://www.screencast.com/t/lD5PH5ea1
https://www.screencast.com/t/E2Fka8zEw44T
You could consider using a more advanced date widget or code to display the date as you want.

Hi,

There is no need to start a new topic with the same questions, let’s continue the discussion in your previous topic
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/i-want-to-change-the-color-and-size-of-the-top-demo-header-menu/
If the suggestions are not what you want, provide more details about what exactly you want to do.

Thanks

Hi,

When a demo is uninstalled, all the demo related content will be removed (demo posts, menus, categories etc) The theme panel settings will also be reset.
Your own created and published posts and pages will not be affected (unless you manually edited demo posts and pages and modified them instead of creating new ones).

These would be the things to keep in mind in this case. Installing a new demo will import it’s design (all demos have custom design, except default demo) and new theme panel settings. The demo home page will be provided only if you install the demo with content. If you don’t install it with content you could re-create it manually or copy it fro the demo files. Some more useful topics here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/after-import-demo-not-like-preview/

Some users have local copies of the website, useful to test plugins, updates, and even switching demos. This would be more safer then doing it in the live website.
And remember to make full backups before making any major changes, just to be safe.

Thanks

Hello, I am using Newspaper V 8.7.5 with the tech news demo.
I build my website around the demo and I want to delete the media files, but they get recreated every time

Sometimes even double or triple.
And how can I update to Newspaper V 8.8?

Cheers,
Skylar

Hello Nick,

Try to use the code below and place it in Theme panel -> Custom CSS area.

.td-related-left, .td-related-right {
background-image: url(https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_craft_ideas/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/header-bg.png)!important;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center center;
background-size: auto 100%;
padding-bottom:10px!important;
}

The result can be seen here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/uRMBQhUFBii9

Hi,

I was simply trying to mention that you wrote on May 31st at 10pm, and there was no support for the first of June (day off) then for the weekend. That is why it took so long for a reply on our side, I am sorry for this inconvenience.

The playlist when placed on a full row, will display the videos next to the video, like in the demo here
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/video-playlist/
When on a 2/3 or 1/3 column for example, it will look like this
https://www.screencast.com/t/gfarlZy60

If you want to embed a playlist already made instead of adding individual video IDs, you could embed that playlist in a text element
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/youtube-playlist-instead-of-each-video-individually/

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. The block that you referred here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/post-look-color-change-excepts-gradient-background-color/
is block 22, when I click “Edit with TD Composer ” I can see or edit this block that you mentioned on the related topic. It allows me to edit. I can also change the color with CSS code and I have already changed the color to green :). That is ok.
But I can not change this block or grid here, and the TD Composer does not allow me to edit these grids, also it does not show me the name of block. Here(when clicking any category); https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_blog_health/category/health/

Hi Catalin,

I don’t understand is why it’s so difficult to change a background image of a block header.

Previously Simion C. answered me this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/excerpt-not-shown-on-blog-page-change-background-of-headers/

He advised me to go to Newspaper/includes/demos/craft_ideas/demo_styles.css
Change the code in line 175 from
background-image: url(“images/header-bg.png”);
to
background-image: url(“http://reisdromen.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Brush-stroke.png”);

When I changed the background image in the code, the same problem appears. I would really appreciate it when you ‘d like to give me some serious advice.

I look forward to your response.

Nick

Hi,

The post content is indeed 696px with a sidebar. If you use Adsense and the auto size setting, the ads will be calculated automatically.
In the sidebar we use a demo ad of this size
https://www.screencast.com/t/TrcwFRsb

There are also special ad spots for some situations
https://www.screencast.com/t/TzzFalcg

If possible responsive ads should be used, so there will be no problem on all devices. Also we have some containers you can use to wrap the ad code if necesarry
https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/

Thanks
