Hi there, I am about to change from Thesis, to Newspaper 6. I run BuySellAds on my site (in the sidebar) BuySellAds give me two code snippets. One to put in where the advert will appear, but another that has to appear on every page at the very top of the <body>
Could anyone help me by explaining exactly how to place this code when I switch themes? I do have some very basic coding knowledge and FTP access but am not an expert, so it needs to be a ‘for dummies’ explanation. 🙂
Many thanks for your help, Pippa
Hi there,
I tried to update to Newspaper 6, but it mushed up my site completely.
Luckily I backed up before and downloaded the old Theme folder installation through FTP, so I deleted the new Newspaper 6 theme folder files and uploaded again the old theme folder installation.
Now the website won’t load, I get this message:
http://www.screencast.com/t/UwFSZq1Zw
Kindly advise!
Thanks!

Hi,
This issue is fixed in version 6.1, please update your theme as in this update were fixed some other issues – http://screencast.com/t/teKIB7I5WC
Please use this guide to update(A. Ftp method) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thanks!
Hi,
Please try regenerate your thumbnails to fix size issue – http://screencast.com/t/63VTQ15j5rS Also if you want background color for Big Slide articles like in version 4 of the theme, please edit you page and set Style 4 – http://screencast.com/t/m8cWbDMR – http://screencast.com/t/X71ujJmiiL
Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option for this, but you can try to change it using custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css and apply a color for post titles on pages(it will be applied also on Big Grid Slide) – http://screencast.com/t/wCh0iuWQlRe
.td-module-title a {
color: #a465a5 !important;
}
If you refer to the block title in version 6.1 it was added an option in Theme Panel >Theme Colors to set a general color for all blocks/widgets titles – http://screencast.com/t/IcPkM5CMB – http://screencast.com/t/c3u7wg6EXVo
In version 6 of the theme were changed the page templates, the sidebar that you see on those pages is sidebar added for latest articles. You can manually add a Widgetised Sidebar widget to your page content – http://screencast.com/t/UwD7n61Q if you want to use that template with Latest Article. Or you can set Pagebuider with title and the defautl sidebar will be add automatically, you don’t have to split the row – http://screencast.com/t/CZZO259mZ3
If you use unique articles and you have an issue with doubling articles, please note that this issue was fixed in version 6.1, so please update using this guide(FTP method) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Please try to remove this code to not show author when the article is shared – http://screencast.com/t/UadS1GJEv and then use facebook debugger and see if works for your articles (fetch new scrape) – https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/
Thanks!

I’m not sure that we’re working with the same Woocommerce version. My file structure is very different from yours.
Screenshot of File Manager – http://www.screencast.com/t/inoskgVg
I copied and pasted the code from Pastbin into my single-product.php but that didn’t work. There’s another file, content-single-product.php and I tried that too. But it crashed my shop.
Would you want FTP access to try?
Hi,
Did you solve the issue?
I have checked your site and seems that you have managed to update to the version 6 – http://screencast.com/t/a3suc8FY
When upgrade from version 4 to version 6 we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme via FTP before uploading the new one. Please check this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, you also can use the patch to update 6.0 – 6.1 – http://screencast.com/t/fEIfH5y1 Also you can remove the theme via FTP and upload 6.1 version(A. Update the theme via FTP) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ You don’t have to run the script, this is only for updates from version 4.

Hi,
We fixed some issues in version 6.1 reported and also added some options demanded by clients – http://screencast.com/t/QhNBakI5c
Please check this guide to update (A. FTP, B.update via WordPress or C.) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thanks!
Always delete/clear cache before updates.
Always delete old theme folder and child theme folder for new theme; upload new folders to completely replace old ones. Delete old plugins completely, install new folders. NEVER OVER-WRITE UPDATES.
Always clear cache after making changes to core files when they are working; otherwise you are loading mix of old/new from server and things break.
If you’re unable to do anything — try switching to default theme, try disabling all plugins entirely; try resetting the plugins folder (see my “how to move to new theme” for a best practice way to update/upgrade and recover from fail).
Only put stuff at end of your functions.php in MAIN folder, NOT child theme. Only add things you know what they are — most being self-evident. If site crashes when loading edited functions.php, then roll back to your backup. If site won’t recover from that, then it’s 100% a caching problem.
Often for testing via FTP, I do
a) all caching and mod_pagespeed disabled
b) rename functions.php to xfunctions.php
c) drag over new functions.php
d) test site
e) if site won’t load; via ftp with window still open, just rename xfunctions.php to functions.php and it replaces the bad functions.php — total time 20-30 seconds.
Not sure any of that helps, but maybe some pointers in some direction.
Hi there,
after following your functions.php tutorials / recommendation my site speed has indeed improved, however following severe issues now:
1. can´t access my wp backend (user and passw not accepted)
2. the search function doesn´t populate posts automatically when typing in anymore

Apprciate your help.
Thanks,
P.S. I´ve st back most of the things recommended, but now just can´t access the site, except
changes via ftp/filezilla.
Likely good time to talk to your hosting provider to check your “ownership permissions” for your setup of your account, folders, etc. — you can also do this via FTP. If you have a mis-match on who “owns” the files being uploaded via WP, if they are not in a publicly visible folder, they won’t load for the public.
I have seen odd things happen when WordPress installed from the hosting panel vs manual install, where some directories and upload folders end up “owned” by the server, or apache, or whatever and not the ftpuser.
You might also do a clean install of WP if your folders and permissions are just completely messed up; the theme doesn’t set write permissions on your WP setup.
You can can also try updating your permalinks; check your wp-config.php file for errors; try resetting your plugin folder by renaming it via FTP, etc.
Right now your style sheet isn’t even loading for your page.
Obviously you should have all caching, mod_pagespeed and similar things turned off. Use the main theme and not child theme, make sure you can even login properly, create new post, upload images, set featured images, upload file, check URL and make sure it can be loaded via browser alone, etc.

Hi,
Please install the theme like Christopher suggested via FTP and always make a backup before updating the theme. Please check this guide (A. FTP method) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thanks!

You can find it via ftp or c-panel.
Thank you, Emil G.

I’ve got 25,000 pages with no problem; so something funky going on obviously!
If you’re using the visual editor it may stay on one line, if you’re using the text editor it should wrap; it’s a function of WordPress.
You may need to clear all your caches on server; and reinstall the theme, making sure you upload via FTP and your FTP software set to properly encode text and binary files; turn off all plugins except visual composer, etc. to debug your issue.
Without a link those of use who offer to help on forum can’t be of any help.
But tagdiv support back on Monday 🙂
Realized in version 6.1 update that three files were deleted, Deleted files – 3 files
js \ td_site.js
js \ td_site.min.js
theme-style.php
When autalizei via FTP the files remain on the server folder. I wonder if I delete the three files mentioned?
I prefered dont use migration plugins 😛
Manual migration:
Just download a full backup from your actual server and backup your database.
Create a new database on new server, create an user. enter on database and import sql file (old database).
Upload all the site backup folder via ftp in the new server
open wp-config.php and remplace DB name and DB user. Save changues.
Finally just changue your dns to the new server and wait some minuts.
Done 🙂
Btw. you dont need made reactivation newspaper or something like that
