I got confused.

1) Open sans works fine but ubuntu, roboto etc. do not. They look different.

Roboto: http://prntscr.com/4jbd9r
Ubuntu:http://prntscr.com/4jbdp8
Roboto and Ubuntu(google fonts page): http://prntscr.com/4jbfff

2) Blue default color loading first is not fixed. I re-installed the plugin and update again the theme. nothing changed. Last solution does not make any meaning because problem is not only blue color. Default template loads first. all fonts and colors change.

3) All I need is a website with latin extended fonts. I want to change widget, menu, h1, h2, title. etc.. fonts and colors using theme panel.

All these fonts and colors supposed to be changed by theme panel. But, in this situation, theme panel has no fuction.
or
(Theme Panel > Custom Typography) never works. I have to change everything manually with css. Is this right?

It has been just two weeks, that I bought the theme. I can start all over if there will be no problems like these.

What do you recommend?

Hi,

I just checked your site and seems to me it’s working fine using both fonts Roboto/Open sans: http://screencast.com/t/dylrBRszw I have enlarged the block title font here so you can see that if you use this font the turkish characters look fine also.

Use the css like this if you want to change the block titles: http://screencast.com/t/BPwIBCHr2z

.column_container .block-title span {
font-family: "Open Sans" !important;
line-height: 28px;
}

Regarding the blue default color loading first, please re-install the speedbooster plugin and also update the theme to the latest version 4.2.2. Before this please make sure you make a backup of your current theme files so you can revert if something goes wrong.
If that dose not help, try this solution: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/about-default-theme-colors/#post-17657
Hope this helps!

Thanks

Hi,

This usually appears because the server security module blocks the access to admin-ajax.php file. Try to verify the console for error while saving the settings on the Theme Panel, usually it displays a 403 or 404 error.
Contact your server administrator and explain the situation, as it’s requested many times during the a save the file it’s treated as threat so it’s banned. You can report false positives to your server administrator to remove it from the banned list.

Thanks

I’ve installed this theme into a clean install of WP 3.9.2 for a new site and whenever I change anything with the in Theme Options panel it hangs – I just get the endless spinning cursor.

I suspect it may be related to the host, which is digitalpacific.com.au, as I created another brand new install on the same host to check and got the same result.

I’ve added all of the required plugins referenced by the theme but doesn’t help.

Also added the demo content which installed ok but didn’t fix the problem.

Where do I start fixing this issue?

Thanks

Hi,

I haven’t used any classes other than the “btn” classes of bootstrap. It would be great if you could take a look by installing the plugin on your localhost or other site..please?

Thanks!

@mmcmsp
BTW: the version of the Themepunch Revolution Slider plugin which was included with Newspaper 4 was “Version 4.3.8 SkyWood”; and themepunch says the vulnerability only existed in version 4.1.4 and older (which is the version included with Newspaper 3), so obviously those of you updating your themes need to remember to install the updated PLUGINS which come bundled with the theme.

Can you confirm the version of the plugin which was hacked; supposedly the last 29 versions of the plugin have been secure.

If you’re using a more recent version, you should definitely contact themepunch to make them aware of the issue to help others from being hacked also.

Should we install the booster and social plugins again? Anything changed with those?

When you update the theme (as tagdiv are doing often), I usually re-install the theme by uninstalling the old version and installing the new one (of course I have to change the theme for a moment to twenty fourteen). As long as I do not touch anything it seem to be okay, but, could it be a problem? I think it is easier than using ftp o through the plugin you mention on the doc.But if it can break my site I would rather learn how to use FTP or use the plugin as is shown here https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-automatically-update-newspaper-theme/

I’ll wait for your answer and I will update it then.

Thanks
Jorge

Likely today best fix might be to try new theme v4.2.2 and see if that solves it for your particular install.

simchris

Well, if it’s an issue with old version of theme, best bet is to install today’s update and see if it changes. Also make sure you hack the header.php file to remove the section which inserts duplicate og:image tag, as that might also be issue.

My point generally was that Google is inconsistent regardless of theme, website, or meta data on properly grabbing all the data. And may have nothing to do with the theme, which you could easily test by backing up your settings, then temporarily switching to twenty-fourteen theme, then doing a save to see difference. Simple way to debug if specific to your “site” and images, or the “theme.” 🙂

The same way how you install it the first time you bought the theme, for updates you just have to overwrite the old files with the new ones from ur FTP …Smh

Hello Lucian,

first of all thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately, I have tested everything and it brings no change. The video is still not Showing.

I have disabled all AddOn also brings no change. The settings I have checked and the vote. I do not want it but I swear to think the problem I have are the version I have installed 4.2.14.2.1. So far everything has worked and suddenly it stopped working.

I hope you can help me really.

Just got to know that pagespeed is not installed on godaddy!

Do you mean the thumbnails ? All themes create thumbnails at different sizes for use in the layout; this is how the small images come to be when you don’t upload them.

If you’re talking about a different issue, I’ve not seen this happen on any WP theme including latest version of Newspaper on my three installs.

simchris

Right, but that doesn’t help with things like search box, a widget plugin such as showing RSS feed from our main site (outside of blog area), categories widget, etc., where there is no option to set color of block text or backing.

So the way it works now
1) default site-wide theme color; impacts menu and default color of sidebar widgets and comments widget areas, for the solid color behind the widget title block
2) you can change the color for featured content blocks, but then those are different from the “default” color block backing the widget title color backing

Perhaps it’s block-title span I need to over-ride?

Sorry. Usually I’m not this stupid. 🙂

(And I had uninstalled Chrome temporarily as I switched to the new 64 bit version but then some things like RoboForm not working, etc., and I need to go back to 32 bit version of Chrome until they get to v38; so can’t do the developer view hover on item find element trick…. suppose I should do that !)

Recently my blog that runs Newspaper theme was hacked several times: database was modified, login account was changed… I use Dreampress service from Dreamhost and after a while, they came with the issue: the Revolution Slider plugin that comes with the theme is a vulnerable plugin! I am posting their message to me about it that says Revolution Slider version 4.6 fix the problem. I wonder if the latest Newspaper version fix that with a newer version of Rev Slider also?
Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for writing.

I found that you have the vulnerable plugin “revslider” (Revolution
Slider) installed here:

/home/wp_xv8mei/…../wp-content/plugins/revslider

This has a file disclosure vulnerability that could allow a hacker to
read your wp-config.php file. This would give them access to your MySQL
database, which in turn would give them access to your WordPress
dashboard, which in turn would give them access to your WordPress theme
and plugin files, which they could then edit and add malicious code to.
That malicious code could then be used to infect the rest of your site.

Here’s the relevant log:

179.178.117.187 – – [28/Aug/2014:09:21:57 -0700] “GET
/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=revslider_show_image&img=../wp-config.php
HTTP/1.1” 200 3300
http://blog.inurl.com.br/5a046effaaf2c5fa9eceb38473cd62a7”
“0xSCANNER-INURL_blog.inurl.com.br-Flock/9.5 (Ubuntu 3.1; da;)”
179.178.117.187 – – [28/Aug/2014:09:22:00 -0700] “GET
/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=revslider_show_image&img=../wp-config.php
HTTP/1.1” 200 3300 “-” “curl/7.26.0”
179.178.117.187 – – [28/Aug/2014:09:22:03 -0700] “GET
/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=revslider_show_image&img=../wp-config.php
HTTP/1.1” 200 3302 “-” “curl/7.26.0”

The developer recently fixed that vulnerability as of version 4.6. They
didn’t announce it as a security update but we tested it to confirm. So
make sure to update it now.

To test the exploit, visit the following URL:

http://…../wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=revslider_show_image&img=../wp-config.php

If the vulnerability is still active, visiting this URL will download a
file named “admin-ajax.php” to your computer. This file will actually
contain the code from your “wp-config.php” file.

@Shashank I deactivated Minify from the W3 Total Cache and installed https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-html-compression/ but it made it worst. Google now shows that I need to minify html…?

I spoke too soon. Works when I install it, goes mad when I try to customize it from the theme panel (child theme or not, and still like this after emptying all the caches)

The VC license is built into the theme, so as long as you’re using the version which ships with the theme and have installed it from the download folder “plugins” into the wp-content/plugins/ folder and activated it; it will work. There is no license code for the “bundled” version. It works as long as you are using the Newspaper theme.

Some things never work “locally” believe it or not, which is why I gave up on that for WordPress dev, and now always test things on a live server, even if a test domain, or sub domain (not always possible with client, of course).

Not sure that will help.

Note tagdiv doesn’t provide phone support for the theme, as far as I know.

If the plugin is not activating from the WP theme panel > plugins > activate plugin – then it likely means the plugin wasn’t setup properly, such as decompression from zip error (corrupted file). If a plugin won’t activate that usually means either file(s) corrupted, or wordpress not installed properly, or the “paths” to its own folders is not correct.
