Hello Olya,
Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized. Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services are not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit our requirements.
Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. If you want to read other views from our users, please check this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tip-how-to-easily-minify-your-css-without-breaking-your-site/

You can minify the CSS using a tool like this https://www.seocentro.com/tools/online/minify-css.html. Just download the style.css file and copy everything inside it and paste in the box provided in the link above. Click submit and once the code is minified, copy the result and paste it in the downloaded file to replace the code inside it. Just click save and re-upload the file inside the newspaper theme folder and overwrite the original one.
Hello,
if I come to you it’s because I did some testing before I talked to you about it.
Disabling all plugins, to keep only the plugins of the theme I have this in gtmetrix: https://www.screencast.com/t/gDLKPyhs
And by reactivating my plugins I get this: https://www.screencast.com/t/FjUMyCxY5MMp
I also test with gtmetrix the demo that you propose and I see that for the Minify JavaScript and CSS, you are 100% : https://www.screencast.com/t/glcmYdjkaB
Maybe by knowing what you did on it. It could help me …
Thank you in advance for your answer.
And sorry for my english, I’m a french who did not do a lot of studies ^^
Cordially.
After lot as tests:
Fast Velocity Minify Version 2.2.7 causes de problem.
Downgrade to 2.2.6 and fixed it.
Any Solution for this?

Hi,
I’m having problems with your theme. I’ve been using it for more than one year in my site without any issues, but with the last update the site start to overload my server sometimes when I’m trying to edit or create a post (every 3 times of 5 more or less).
I thought that maybe was one of the plugins that I’ve using in the editor, like TinyMCE Advanced, but even deactivating all plugins, sometimes the editor still overload my server. I’ve also disable the minify on Cloudflare and W3 Total Cache, thinking that maybe there was a script failing, and it’s get a little bit better, but still overloading sometimes)
It is very annoying by the way. Can you help me to fix it? If you’ve already identified it and it’s going to be fixed on the next update, please tell me when do you expect to have it ready.
Thanks,
Regards.
Hey hello there fellas!!! Im super excited so far cause your support is amazing and believe me i have bought too many themes that their support was really bad. My next question is about site performance plz check this photo —-> I get really many requests and i was wondering how can i minify those requests to improve load speed cause my site seems heavy and i have to find a way to improve my speed. Plugins dont seem to do the job because lets say autoptimize plugin destroys the theme when i try to minify the js requests . So what im asking is a way to gather all js html css files together to minify the requests . Any thoughts on this matter and how i can do that using newspaper theme without destroying it ? 😀 thank you in advance guys!
My site sits behind Cloudflare as well. The style sheet does *not* minify completely with their auto-minify option. Very early into the file, cloudflare detects some kind of error and stops minifying. Their tech support says that they stop once they detect any form of error and suggest running the file through a validator. I do not know what “level” of CSS to validate against for their minifier to work, but I haven’t found a validator setting that likes the style.css file.
You can see it failing at https://www.morebusiness.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/style.css?ver=8.6
The first screen or two are minified, then it reverts back to the original.
In any case, I have successfully used https://css.github.io/csso/csso.html to minify it. I have my child theme load the minified version directly rather than overwriting the original.

Fixed this. It was the minify on Cloudflare that was causing the issue 🙂
Hello m2hewitt,
Unfortunately, notice that we do not make any tests for none of Minify plugins and we cannot provide any suggestions in this case, sorry! The single useful tutorial for speed optimizations might be found here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello. I figured out. Its because of cloudflare’s auto minift function. If you have same problem, disable minify css or create page rules for admin pages to disable all.

Hi Simion,
i already disabled the minify plugin and now is working properly.
Do you have any suggestion about minify plugin? i used Better WordPress Minify until now, but now with this new version i need to disable if i want to the sharing icons.
Regards,
Here is my .htaccess look like:
# BEGIN Expire headers
<ifModule mod_expires.c>
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresDefault “access plus 5 seconds”
ExpiresByType image/x-icon “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType image/jpeg “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType image/png “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType image/gif “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType application/x-shockwave-flash “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType text/css “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType text/javascript “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType application/javascript “access plus 604800 seconds”
ExpiresByType application/x-javascript “access plus 604800 seconds”
#ExpiresByType text/html “access plus 600 seconds”
#ExpiresByType application/xhtml+xml “access plus 600 seconds”
</ifModule>
# END Expire headers
<IfModule mod_deflate.c>
<filesMatch “\.(js|css|woff|html|php)$”>
SetOutputFilter DEFLATE
</filesMatch>
</IfModule>
And I did minify CSS and js automaticly by CloudFlare
Hi,
I don’t know what more I could add in this matter. This theme feature works properly in the intended circumstances. If it does not work with the setup you have then most likely you will have to modify theme files.
As I mentioned we cannot provide such theme modifications, these have to be first recreated then fixed and tested. You could consider hiring a freelancer to help you with theme modifications.
A possible starting point in the theme js file – https://www.screencast.com/t/KTRr1IvyC68
Note that the theme uses the minified version of the js
– https://www.screencast.com/t/K0lQVJGr9kIm
There are online tools to unminify it, make modifications and minify it back.
Thanks
Hi,
You could simply unminify the files if that is needed, there are online tools that can do this. Like this one for example
– http://unminify.com/
Thanks
Add the expiration headers for your own content; you can’t do so for anything loaded from other sites.
You can minify the CSS and .js but a little tricky. See my long winded tutorial in the docs > tutorials > best of forums here for one way to do that.
Hi… After some optimize, my blog is get good score on GTmetrix.. but I found still low score for YSlow Score, please take a look at this image https://s10.postimg.org/lj5ljtm2h/Screenshot-2017-12-20_GTmetrix_Performance_Report_A_95_B_80.png. How to optimize “Add Expires headers and Minify” “JavaScript and CSS”? both are in high and medium priority.
Thank you
We opted for AMP here, then did massive optimization of desktop version for responsive purposes (we use native fonts, remove unused code like bbpress or woocommerce, minify js and css, inline critical css above the fold, etc.).
Time consuming work, but just one of many options. 🙂
Same problem here with header style 12. I use W3TC and Amazon cloudfront.
It appears to be a problem with the W3TC / Cloudfront interaction. When I disable the CDN, the search icon appears as expected. When I enable Cloudfront, I get the broken behavior. I’d expected that since W3TC is combining and minifying my HTML, JS, and CSS (I’m still http/1) that any time I purged cache in w3tc, the new file combined file names would ensure no caching problems.
Looks like I was wrong. Guess I have to wait a week for the theme files to expire or learn Cloudfront invalidation…
I want to use this plugin with newspaper theme. Is it compatible with this?
Fast Velocity Minify : https://wordpress.org/plugins/fast-velocity-minify/
I can’t use tagdiv speed booster with jetpack. Is jetpack not compatible with speed booster?
