When I use my mobile menu, there is a “grey” bar” across the top and when I scroll up on my menu, the grey bar is transparent and shows the website scrolling in the background. I uploaded a YouTube video to show you. https://youtu.be/-KhubUYeLNA
I am on newspaper 9.6 with mobile theme set to amp only, and wp amp.
Siteground VPS with their own ‘supercacher’ enabled.
Since upgrading from 9.2 the mobile theme menu is taking an age to become visible. Like over 2 seconds. If used on the homepage for example, the first click of the menu hamburger initiates some kind of fancy screen redraw, but it just appears that there is no menu until it finally comes up seconds later. How can I either turn off this pointless redraw (if that is what it is causing the delay), or prioritise the menu?
Feedback: It seems particularly pointless to have this fancy redraw for a menu click, when by definition the user is showing they want to go elsewhere, and the menu background covers it up anyway. Like if the menu was working correctly you wouldn’t even see it, so why have it?
Hello,
I saw that the old mobile of newspaper isn’t supported anymore and I just did an update.
Now, using the new Mobile theme + amp official plugin I get the permalinks changed from domain.com/amp/ to domain.com/?amp and that is 404 error when someone is accesing the already indexed amp pages in google.
How can I keep the old structure domain.com/amp/ ?
Hello
1. In the mobile theme settings, use mobile theme for, mobile, mobile and amp, amp only. I want pages visible to mobile users, so I have to select ‘amp only’, correct?
2. In the wp amp plug in settings, only content type ‘post’ and template ‘singular’ (not sub-template homepage) are checked by default. Why wouldn’t you want any taxonomy or template amp enabled? Example in the Newspaper documentation the example shows all templates and types checked for amp.
3. Do you recommend post processing caching on or off? Doesn’t state in the notes and i know your caching guides are very specific.
4. Existing pages and posts. The TagDiv guide doesn’t give any info – but is there anything I need to do for all existing posts and pages either to make them amp or check they are amp enabled?
Thanks
Hello,
I am using the version 9.6.1 of the theme. I have the official AMP plugin for WordPress enabled without the Mobile theme enabled.
I am getting multiple errors indexed. Example:
There is content which fails AMP validation. However, your site is configured to automatically accept sanitization of the offending markup. You should review the issues to confirm whether or not sanitization should be accepted or rejected. Review issues
Invalid elements: script (8)
What should I do?
Hi Calin,
Thank you for your patience and the time you spend for me!
The only thing is that the problems are still there and I do not know any further.
If I disable AMP Google penalizes me.
If I use classic AMP the article looks bad and
if I use the mobile theme I have duplicate articles and incorrect display on tablets.
Is there any way to hide the featured article in the latest articles box on moblie theme?
I use the cache plugin recommended by you WP Super Cache so there should be no conflict on tablets.
Please help me! Is there another AMP plugin that can solve these problems, or is there a way to downgrade, because everything worked well before the update.
Many thanks for your help!
arti
Hi,
The articles on mobile is display twice because in the grid is set the last featured post, in below are show the latest articles and that post is one of them.
The view on tablet is cause by a plugin conflict, usually is from cache plugin.
Thank you!
Hi,
Usually when you are on desktop and you are redirect to a mobile version of your website it is a cache problem, I would suggest as a first step to clear the cache then deactivate the caching plugin temporarily. Then check if the problem is solved.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
By a theme setting that is not possible at the moment. Only by making a modification in the mobile theme code here – http://prntscr.com/n6uxmo
Maybe there will be a setting for it added in the future. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Thanks
Hi,
If those errors appear on mobile only for this category, that means that you do not configure the custom category what is need.
Thank you for your understanding!
That is usually caused by caching. I have seen cases where the mobile theme was loading on desktop for example, which should not happen.
In almost all those cases the issue was a caching plugin. We recommend to use the WP super cache if possible, with these settings
– https://tagdiv.com/wp-super-cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
There should be no problem with the mobile theme and this caching plugin.
Hi,
If you use the mobile theme plugin, that the mobile website will be different from desktop. The mobile theme doesn’t use cloud templates, it will use predefined templates, regardless of what is used on desktop. That is what makes it faster.
However the mobile theme is an optional plugin. If you want to display the same content from desktop on mobile, deactivate it. Here is some more information about it
– https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi all… don’t mean to gate crash the post, but was looking for an answer to the same. In the end I just used responsive and disabled AMP and mobile theme. I was not even aware there was a mobile editor, so thanks for that Calin.
Lesson to be learnt: Check documentation for guides and answers 🙂
Best

Hi,
You can display different headers for each page or cloud template, both on desktop or on mobile. So for example on one page you can select one header with one menu on mobile
– http://prntscr.com/n6sc5e
And a different header, or the same one duplicated and modified http://prntscr.com/n6scne on another page.
While editing pages and cloud templates you can choose the header you want to use
– http://prntscr.com/n6sdir
If you have more questions let me know.
Thanks
Hi Calin,
I tried to use the mobile theme with AMP and cleared the cache;). Now I have the following three issues.
The Google AMP site test has again shown the same six error messages as without the mobile theme. (I have now disabled the mobile theme again and enabled classic AMP)
With the mobile theme, the featured article is displayed twice.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/19LFwwPd3aZF1igaOuT0JldGe1u4By4-z/view?usp=sharing
and on tablets the mobile page looks strange because everything seems so stretched.

Thank you!

Hi,
1. If you are using the AMP option in mobile theme on your mobile will have the desktop content ( the theme responsive version ) if you’ll set the mobile + amp then you’ll have the mobile theme on mobile devices.
Mobile Theme: Automatic Optimization for Mobile with Newspaper Theme -> https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
How to Make an AMP Ready Website with Newspaper Theme -> https://tagdiv.com/amp-newspaper-theme/
2. In AMP version you can not use JavaScript that’s way the menu in AMP is expended, you have to many sub-menus you can set a different menu for mobile/amp -> https://www.screencast.com/t/R0zmCDDmqHmM
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
Some examples would be helpful, there is no sidebar in the mobile theme templates. Only when the mobile theme is not active the sidebar of posts will be displayed below the content. Let us know.
Thanks

Hi,
The theme sharing will appear on AMP, but only if you also use the mobile theme plugin together with AMP – https://tagdiv.com/amp-newspaper-theme/
If you use just the AMP plugin you could do something like this for example
– https://isabelcastillo.com/social-media-sharing-wordpress-amp-accelerated-mobile
Or find sharing plugins that are AMP compatible, there are plugins that have this feature.
Thanks
Hi,
The mobile theme is a plugin that provide you a better speed then responsive version of theme, but in order to achieve that speed you’ll need to create a new content for pages because in the most of cases those were made with builders ( tagDiv Composer, WPBakery ) and you need to use only the mobile editor ( you need to set the content for pages in mobile editor and this content will be display on mobile theme)
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/ebUIzt4se
Also please check our documentation for Mobile Theme: Automatic Optimization for Mobile with Newspaper Theme -> https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
I think that you are referring to those 3 blocks, for those you’ll need to have set seam feature posts (that have set feature category) -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/ -> https://www.screencast.com/t/QsJ6ppY4
You’ll need to add some post in feature category -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/ if you do not have this category you can create it, just make sure that you set the category name to be
Featured
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
All the files that can be change can be found in our documentation for child theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ unfortunately the files for mobile this can not be set in child theme.
Thank you for your understanding!
Dear team,
Every time I click on a post of (Mobile + AMP) theme on mobile phone, below the content, it shows me the related articles.
I want to increase the number of posts in related articles, how to do?
Thank you,
Hi,
EWWW image optimiser is not compatible with AMP/the mobile theme.
Is there an alternative to optimise/serve better scaled images?
I’m currently scoring a 0 on that on GTMetrix.
The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 632.9KiB (99% reduction).
Also looking for a way to incorporate my Facebook pixel on the site without it breaking the AMP.
Thanks
Matt
