Hi Bradkrauza,
I have seen this happen when older versions of the Newsmag style sheet when a custom CSS has been added somewhere – upsetting their placeholden span hacks.
I can see in this example that on your style sheet you have .td-pb-row [class*=”td-pb-span”] adding in a margin of -99998px and then a padding of 99999px.. – You will find it on your style sheet at around line 1438 (style.css)
I seem to recall the TagDiv guys did this type of hack in Version 2 of the code – don’t think they do it anymore… Are you running V2 code? If so, maybe a full careful upgrade to v3 is required here, or just remove the padding/margin element from the offending element – TagDiv people – any explanation as to why you guys put this big block in v 2.37 of the code – I ran into this once before myself, couldn’t figure out why you guys put it there…? It’s not in the current code..
.td-pb-row [class*=”td-pb-span”] {
border-left: 1px solid #e6e6e6;
display: block;
float: left;
margin-bottom: -99998px !important;
margin-left: 0;
min-height: 1px;
padding-bottom: 99999px;
}
I think if you took out the margin-bottom and padding-bottom, the gap would go away – but I don’t know why they did it in the first place, so something else will probably break.

Bummer… I also tried to move the smartlist 1 navigation to the bottom (or actually I want to copy it, so it appears both on top and bottom of the content).
I messed around with the td_smart_list_1.php file, but had no luck. I would really appreciate a flexible option to place the navigation on top or bottom or both. Would it be possible for you to create an alternative td_smart_list_1.php file so that we at least manually create such navigation?
Hello Andrei,
Thanks for the detailed response. Actually, I had made the lazy load off that’s why you couldn’t notice it. Currently, I have enabled it again and now you will be able to see the same issue again. Visit this again: https://tomatoheart.com/manisha-choraria/kids-manage-finance/
As I said, it disappears only when “Fade & Scale” or “Up fade” option is selected under loading effect. In case, I made it off or select “Fade (Full)”, It works very well. ( Check this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/xUhvWum.jpg )
I know there is no issue with theme options or anything and it’s happening because of the compatibility issue of my this custom CSS
.wp-caption-text a {
background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.25) none repeat scroll 0 0;
display: inline-block;
padding: 0 3%;
}
.wp-caption-text, .wp-caption-text a {
color: #fff;
font-size: 10px;
margin-top: -28px;
text-align: left;
line-height: 20px;
margin-left: 3px;
}
I rmember , under a different thread here : https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/image-caption-disappeared-and-jpg-are-not-in-centre-in-smart-list/#post-131943 Bogdan has said that this code effects only externally sourced image and he has suggested a new code, which is working very well even with smart list style but somehow he wasn’t able to shift the “image caption” both in the bottom left ( it stays in the bottom center)
SO, I am using Bogdan’s code specifically for Smart list styles and using my code for all other places ( here it works with both internally and externally sourced images )
Example for bogdans code : https://tomatoheart.com/akshita/13-science-backed-reasons-indian-superstitions/
Example for my code: https://tomatoheart.com/manisha-choraria/kids-manage-finance/ ( It will disappear in milliseconds because of the current setting )
One better solution can be that if we can style Bogdan’s code in a way that it gets the same style as I am getting with my code. The only issue is to move caption box to bottom left. It will also solve “Lazy load” issue as his code works well universally.
Or you can check the compatibility of my code with last two lazy loading options.
I am repeating it again that theme is working very well and it’s just because of my custom code but any help will be appreciated.
With regard at Speed Booster, I can see it’s working but can’t see it impacts on Pagespeed, with ON or OFF, I don’t see any changes in the number of .JS or .CSS file under render blocking .
Does it work only for the internal .js and .css files , not for the external one?
A look at the current Pagespeed score: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftomatoheart.com%2Fmanisha-choraria%2Fkids-manage-finance%2F&tab=desktop

https://tomatoheart.com/…r/assets/css/js_composer.min.css?ver=7.3
https://tomatoheart.com/…ntent/themes/Newspaper/style.css?ver=7.3
You can notice that all are internal .js or .css files related to either a theme or plugin. Why can’t it move theme related .js and .css files? what about googleAPIs and external plugins like Facebook login and YTsubscribe plugin ? Is Speedbooster unable to render it?
How can I check that what .j and .css files , speedbooster is succesfully moving?
You may want to answer these things, whenver you have time. Thank you very much.

Hi
Note that the Speed Booster plugin disable itself when an incompatible plugin it’s installed. We added this measure to avoid conflicts with the plugins that won’t allow to move their CSS/js resources at page bottom. To keep it always activated comment or delete the indicated lines from td-speed-booster.php: http://screencast.com/t/RZLIOPUNdqh You can check this topic for more information about speed booster usage: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/speed-booster-questions/

Okay after doing some searching around I tried going via url to the following after having moved the unzipped / zipped Newspaper folder into the wp-content/themes folder:
1. http://localhost/murphytimes/wp-admin/themes.php
It displays the other themes but I noticed that down the bottom under “Broken Themes” it has this:
Newspaper Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Very strange. I can’t see it on my laptop (Ubuntu, with Firefox). However, I can see the add perfectly on my tablet. I just removed the top ad, the bottom add is still there.
Thanks.
The javascript code didn’t work through, it’s still showing the yellow boxes on issue # 3 & 4…?
Great, almost there with the slider.
How can I make the text of the headline pure white #ffffff and also not transparent?
Also with the grey box on the slider containing the title, how can we make it move down the image along with the text to cover the bottom of the image rather than higher up?

Hi,
I have a problem with advanced buttons at the bottom of my home page
1. The clickable are is not align propertly with the center of the button image.
2. When the screen is smaller than 769px, they form only one column and the clickable area doesn´t move with the button image.
I need that the buttons keep its original distribution (4 rows, 3 columns) even when the screen is small, and that the clickable area be always align propertly with the button image.
How can I do it?
Thanks a lot!!
Hello,
Please remove the previous code and use this one instead:
.td_block_11 .td-module-title{
border-bottom: 1px solid black;
}
Thank you!
Hello,
Hi,
Unfortunately opera mini has too many limitations for us to be able to fix anything for it. It is a stripped down version of a browser that is useful if you have slow internet connections or expensive mobile data packages. We understand the frustration caused by this but it is very hard to fix these issues. We would have to create a new theme for opera mini alone and remove any elements that are not supported by the browser. Sorry for the inconvenience but we do not recommend the use of our theme with opera mini as well as opera classic or internet explorer 8 or lower. Our theme has many complex elements and these browsers do not have the needed features to support them. Thank you for your understanding.
As for the “veil” I think you are referring to the image gradient that is added on grids so you can see the post title. It is a black gradient though as a shadow in the bottom part of the image. Not sure what the White veil is. I also checked your posts and they seem to work properly. Please provide more details to what this veil is and what area of the site does not work properly as I cannot find any issue at the moment.
Thank you!
You should update the whole code. I got lost with the last bit of code. Didnt know what to replace in the original you put a few posts before. :p
BTW, I use Better WordPress Minify, it works very well with the minify and merge thing, but Google still tell me to move the minifed file to the bottom. Is there any way to do this without the TagDiv Speed Booster plugin? That dont work for me cos it has like a delay or something while loading my settings (font, colors, menu position).
Tanx in advabnce.

Hello,
Our grids already have the gradient so you can read the content:
default: http://screencast.com/t/n3R4DpUKfCY no gradient: http://screencast.com/t/z9Q3O94TXkW
You can increase this gradient if you want it stronger with this css code:
.td-module-thumb a:last-child:before{
background: linear-gradient(to bottom, rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) 40%, rgba(0, 0, 0, 1) 100%)!important;
}
As for the meta info, you can select the meta you want for modules and blocks as well as the category tag from the theme panel . You can remove these elements if you do not want them:
http://screencast.com/t/SozRBtvzLAt and http://screencast.com/t/Pl9YedX3V
Thank you!
Hello wordnow,
In this case, please try to use the Text with Title + Video Player element from Visual Composer if you want that your title to be underlined and that it have the same style as in this example -> http://screencast.com/t/dQjOuRLc -> http://screencast.com/t/FJZHOBKpsilm For better results, then you should use a bit of CSS to remove some padding bottom and the result you should see here -> http://screencast.com/t/kZKdL9dv8
The code is ->
.td_block_text_with_title {
padding-bottom: 0;
}
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
Fact is, in WordPress you need to move all CSS and JS to footer, and then have the critical CSS loaded from the header file to fully eliminate that error message.
There is no ‘one click’ way to do it.
Check your page source and see what css and js are there.
but, the ‘gotcha’ is that most WP posts cannot render anything at all without certain code, and so putting it at bottom can help it load, but without the initial “critical” CSS actually loaded inline at top, the page still needs to get to the code to load anything at all (often giving a flash of unstyled text – aka FOUT).
I think I cover this somewhere in my epic poem on TagDiv theme optimization in the tutorials > best of forum.

Hello,
Our theme does not have this option to remove the sharing widget on specific posts so it will have to be made custom .luckily it;s not very hard to do it. you can use this function: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/in_category/ This will check if the post belongs to a specific category. Then you can add a condition to the social widget like so: http://screencast.com/t/jjiJbOcjZg You will have to do this for every post style that you use. Further down the file shown is the social sharing bottom code you can also place inside such a condition.
<?php if (in_category('gadgets')){
echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing_top();
} ?>
This will result the sharing to only be enabled for the gadgets category. The reverse is !in_category like so:
<?php if (!in_category('gadgets')){
echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing_top();
} ?>
I hope this helps.
Thanks
Hm.
Well couple of wrinkles.
1) changing the mx2 to mx9 still tries to load a large thumbnail 511×400
//build the results / try mx9 vs mx2 8.22.16
if (!empty($td_query->posts)) {
foreach ($td_query->posts as $post) {
$td_module_mx9 = new td_module_mx9($post);
$buffy .= $td_module_mx9->render();
}
}
2) removing the thumbnail from the mx2 module leaves the blank space; so I tried removing the outer div, and then applying a style class override at bottom of style.css to make all text font size 15px; but had no impact.
Still playing with this. Seems like I need to double check the mx2 module not being used in anything else first. Might need to make new module like x2search then revise the CSS for that to remove the thumbnail indent padding before the text loop.
———— EDIT ———–
oh, duh — perhaps I should try module 9 vs mx9 ? LOL.
THis worked (and double duh)
//build the results / try _9 vs mx2 8.22.16
if (!empty($td_query->posts)) {
foreach ($td_query->posts as $post) {
$td_module_9 = new td_module_9($post);
$buffy .= $td_module_9->render();
}
}
1. When someone wants to share a post, does not leave the corresponding image of this. but if it is reloaded, then if the image appears. This only happens to the first one who wants to share the post, as I fix it?
2. How to remove the name of the author of the post that appears on the bottom, when shared a post?
For those curious about baseline speed with GTmetrix for test bed:
No additional compression of css or js done (minification);
No caching plugin running;
Mod_pagespeed is OFF;
Page has no ad, but large image, sidebar, bottom bar images; large logo.
Default Newsmag theme (not using a “style/demo”).
Share buttons ‘on’ at top of page.
Pagespeed Score: A (96%)
YSLOW Score A (94%)
Page load time: 1.2s
Total Page size: 248kb
requests: 12
Nice.
Still to do:
figure out how to fix the wonky ? query on the newsmag icon font …
/images/icons/newsmag.woff?11
a) compress style.css
b) replace gravatar with local author image
c) main css to footer; preload critical CSS in head (fixes ‘render blocking …’)
d) enable mod_pagespeed – does on the fly comment removal, image optiization for small png to base64 or webp, removes all double spaces in text for pseudo-minification; further optimizes anything loaded from google like jquery
=========
that’s it for now.
Hope this isn’t annoying folks too much 😉
————
Radu and co have really done a great job on this and theme is speedy on desktop testing ‘as advertised …” which is awesome. I was worried going from v2 to v3 was going to bring bloaty-mcbloatface, and turns out – not so much 🙂

Hi
I can’t access the given url as it’s from your dashboard and I don’t have permissions if I am logged out.
I assume that you’re referring at that delay which appears on page’s load until the settings from theme panel are applied. That happens because the custom css generated by the theme is moved by Speed Booster plugin at page’s bottom. To avoid the delay you can try to insert all custom css generated by the theme directly in style.css. That code can be found in page’s source but you have to be very careful with it. Currently you have this custom css: http://pastebin.com/ZmyuCBNU Try to paste it in style.css here: http://screencast.com/t/HxwVJnudgGK clear the caches then test the site again.
I hope this helps.
Thanks!
Hello,
All advertisements in our theme are added in the theme ad spots here: http://screencast.com/t/sYg6f3egt
If you want to remove all ads, make sure each section of the ad spots is empty.
The bottom ad should be found here: http://screencast.com/t/ZPOhMQjefuv
Thank you!
I am trying to remove the standard advertisement that appears at the bottom of each post.
Can you advise how to remove it. I have looked everywhere for it but cannot find it anywhere. I have been able to remove the same advertisement from the side bar.
Thank You
Garry

Hi,
You can use this css to remove the padding top and bottom from the top menu:
.td-header-style-12 .td-header-sp-top-menu, .td-header-style-12 .td-header-sp-top-widget{
padding-top: 5px !important;
padding-bottom: 5px !important;
}
Thank you!
