- TutorialsFrom WPBakery to tagDiv Composer
- TutorialsWhat is Ajax preloading?
Hi,
I just installed Newspaper theme in my website, PanduanSaya.com. Just finish my edits but I found out a few things not working properly:
1. My mega menu not showing sub-categories. I followed the tutorial but can’t get it to work
2. My ajax filtering or pagination in block (homepage) not working properly. I clicked the next/previous, but somehow it takes to the top of website, and the ajax does not change the page that it should be – it just takes you to the top of the website.
3. My news sticker also having the same problem like ajax filtering in block.
Here are few of my settings, hope it helps:
– I disable lazy load, because it causing my images not showing
– I tried optimized pre-loading in mega menu preload, not working
– page attribute for my homepage (visual composer) is default template
– I use Incapsula CDN
Hi,
I put these code that i obtain on the website http://css3buttongenerator.com/ÂČ on my newsmag theme in the custom css:
.btn {
background: #3498db;
background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #3498db, #2980b9);
background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #3498db, #2980b9);
background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #3498db, #2980b9);
background-image: -o-linear-gradient(top, #3498db, #2980b9);
background-image: linear-gradient(to bottom, #3498db, #2980b9);
font-family: Arial;
color: #ffffff;
font-size: 20px;
background: #3498db;
padding: 15px 25px 15px 25px;
text-decoration: none;
}
.btn:hover {
text-decoration: none;
}
I put that on my website in the widget part on the sidebar, the problem is that the result is different from the website http://css3buttongenerator.com/. Can you help me to optimize these css code for your theme?
Regards
Hello,
If WpSmush did not wok out for you, one of our users suggests this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ewww-image-optimizer/
We have not tested this plugin and cannot say for sure if it will work or not, but you can give it a try.
Thanks.
problem solved with deactivate WpSmush plugin. Any option plugin for optimize image?
Hi,
The best way is to update to the latest version to make sure that your modifications will not create issues and check this guide how to optimize your speed and requirements for Newspaper theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ as I have checked your site on pagespeed tool and you have to do some fix even if you use 6.1 – http://screencast.com/t/8jz2iWZetX
This sort order was designed to work exactly like the jetpack stats(2 days), the plugin’s API doesn’t support that.
Also I how the Shim version will help.
Thanks!
You can’t optimize fonts loaded from Google unless you want to hack that per my optimization sticky to load the CSS locally.
For your local CSS and JS you can minify that locally also.
For the jquery stuff, you would need to manually add that to the booster plugin per the theme docs. Tagdiv will likely have better answer on Monday đ
AGAIN:
for those who don’t know how to read changelogs …
if using Newspaper 6x ..
a) go to your Envato/Themeforest account,
b) download the “all files” for Newspaper, extract to the “Newspaper-tf” folder
c) in the /plugins folder note the file “js_composer”
d) extract the zip
e) in the ‘js_composer’ plugin folder, note the file “changes.txt”
note it’s 4.7.4 đ
2.10.2015 – ver 4.7.4
– Fixed: Bug in grid builder presets
– Added extra ajax check
29.09.2015 – ver 4.7.3
– Re: Backwards compatibility for images with custom link
– Added border for single image with external source
– Width of vc icon in “Add element” window fixed
– Presets saving mechanism optimized
22.09.2015 – ver 4.7.2
– “Undefined index” notice in tabs, tour, accordion removed (for cases when vc_remove_param() was called)
– Bottom border in image gallery fixed
– <br> now works in mobile view tabs
– Backwards compatibility for images with custom link
– Minor css improvements and fixes

Your page has 2 blocking script resources and 3 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
Remove render-blocking JavaScript:

http://healthills.com/âŠs/jquery/jquery-migrate.min.js?ver=1.2.1
Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:

http://fonts.googleapis.com/âŠn+Sans%3A300%2C400%2C600%2C700&ver=4.3.1
http://fonts.googleapis.com/âŠ%2C700italic%2C400%2C300%2C700&ver=4.3.1
How can I remove Them? Thanks!
What is the difference between Newspaper Theme CSS and http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper theme CSS?
There is the huge difference in CSS file size between your demo CSS and theme CSS. To optimize loading theme, i did try to minify CSS using various online minifiers. But all them getting crashed due to 20K and above lines in CSS file.
How can i optimize like http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper like CSS? Or can i use the CSS from http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper ?
Hi there, can someone help me? I don’t know how can resolve this problem.
I read the theme is optimized for bbpress too, but it seems don’t work properly…
…
We use Google fonts and have a 100 UX score with Google and 97 page speed. Of course, we moved the CSS loading to the style.css file.
Having a single large CSS file is preferable to 10 CSS files like many themes use as it’s cached and compressed as one item by server/browser and not reloaded over and over.
One of the top 3 selling themes on ThemeForest has 10 CSS files loaded per page! TagDiv does not. Footprint on complex themes is average 550kb for CS/Java these days.
A theme I used yesterday to setup a nonprofit website has 7 CSS files, 6 JS files, etc. — I’m having to manually combine those to optimize.
TagDiv closed weekends, as noted top of page.
I answered a bunch of threads, but I don’t work here. đ
Sorry to editorialize here, just some feedback on that issue.
Hi,
Please disable the mobile version from Jetpack, as the theme has already a version for mobile device.
Regarding the pagespeed please check this guide to optimize it – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thanks!
Hi,
Please test your site and try to fix those issues – http://screencast.com/t/NLBiRDOk check this guide to optimize your speed – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Also Christoper topic may help – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-pagespeed-2015/
Thanks!
Did you
a) increase default memory in your wp-config.php file ?
b) turn off all plugins except visual composer to try to debug what might be causing overload?
c) optimize site for fewer queries, optimized photos, pagespeed, etc.
(a) is best thing to start with.
Hi I have problem with my backend. It works very very slow and also sometimes I have 503 error.
I have called to my server operator and they told me that my index.php is poorly optimized.
Could You check this?
Thank You!
Radu, what do you think of the 3 cloudflare options working with newspaper: http://screencast.com/t/mFYxmJxg31h
1) autominify (js, css, html) – some of these are done with the td booster plugin right? would it be ok to use these if I am not using the td booster plugin?
2) polish (on or off) says it improves image load time – will it interrupt or over optimize if you already have smushit?
3) Railgun (business plan offering for more, have you ever tried it? worth it as a compliment to the theme?)
Thanks!!

I had done a tutorial somewhere once upon a time which I don’t think is part of my sticky, only because the locale moved several times between themes …
but best way to optimize fonts (broad strokes):
a) disable loading from the main includes/functions file
b) copy the rendered css from Google for the stylesheet
c) put the actual CSS at bottom of the main style.css
this way you’re loading the fonts, but *not* the actual CSS sheet which is just a redirect loading the fonts from Google (so this saves loading the external style sheet, essentially)…
working on an ebook to cover all this stuff in detail but a bit behind ….
Any theme framework using Visual Composer will have that file – it’s not technically part of theme; so hundreds of themes using VC will have that payload, but it’s the plus and minus to this kind of fancy site.
You can minify the main css file per my suggestions in my sticky post on optimization, which helps quite a bit.
Also, luckily this stuff actually gets zipped/compressed when sent to browser and cached so not being loaded over and over.
There is also code in my optimization sticky on topic of disabling VC loading on post pages where it’s not used (at least in my case).
Sadly, for highly complex and “lots of features” sites, there *is* a big payload, but not so bad — some themes make it seem smaller by loading 10 diff CSS files, where here it’s all combined.
Standard size CSS for most complex themes is actually about 550KB — not 75KB. It’s not apples to apples, it’s apples to watermelons — footprint is quite different.
But you can optimize stuff quite a bit for speed and Google pagespeed rating, which should be the main target for using large complex “feature-packed” themes like this one.
That might not have helped, but some feedback (I’ve been doing webdev 20 years and using WP 10 years, so not totally nuts over here… at least most of the time) đ
I disabled Autoptimize and it loads faster. I find this strange.
I recently got this theme and deployed to a website.
I noticed that the site was taking too much time to load. Even with Autoptimize inline CSS and the proper optimizations.
When I extracted the CSS into a file I noticed the size is 1.5MB!!!
No wonder this site is so slow. When the average CSS standard size is 75KB.
Please let me know how I can reduce this CSS. I think it has a lot of things that I don’t need and are there who knows for what.
Hi,
Newsmag CSS is too heavy:
js_composer
801.611 kb
style
589.912 kb
style
116.628 kb
Total CSS:
1560 kb (1551.767 external css / 8.704 internal css)
Standard css theme file should be less than 75K, Is there anyway you can optimize the theme ( inline css, combine ).
I also try to remove the javascripts, and css rendering with speed booster but it didn’t work properly.
Thank
Also I have a question about the picture size.
Like this page:
https://fitupp.com/the-muscle-building-quiz/
The picture size is optimized for FB but when I set it as featured picture it is not showing properly..
It’s cropped..
Any clue?
Hello! My name is RubĂ©n. I’m from Spain. My website is informeinsolito.com
I have a problema with https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
Why my website is not optimized for mobile?
Thanks Bogdan – Sorry, I should have checked that. It was Autoptimize. All good now.
Cheers, Rob
I use duplicator to make clone of my site on my live server, then download the backup file to my PC from the site. Works flawlessly even on 10 year old sites.
You can always do a repair/optimize on your dbase first, which you should be doing anyway with at least things like the wp-optimize plugin.
You can also try to repair dbase or optimize via phpmyadmin.
Make sure you have enough memory assigned to php to run the tool; make sure your timeout isn’t too short for Duplicator.
That may not help, but it’s been my own experience.
(not theme related, obviously … )
