I am facing a problem with the mega menu categories post load. The loading spinner just loads infinitely and doesn’t show the articles. Please refer to below image:
https://i.imgur.com/uLFgbE8.jpg
The same thing also happens to the ajax loader in blocks.
https://i.imgur.com/f8ac3S3.jpg
I’ve tried all three options at the mega menu preloader. No preload (default), optimized preload, and preload all. Neither made a difference.
My site doesn’t have any issues so far. Everything else runs smoothly. There is a warning that my PHP memory limit is insufficient. Im not sure whether this is affecting it? https://i.imgur.com/VM4aZn9.png
Please help!
Hello!
All seems to be alright. Check also about some external plugins which you use.
Sometimes some unoptimized plugins can be the cause of the memory.
Also, you can try to increase Wp memory limit.
Thank you!
Hello!
If you created the mobile pages with TagDiv Composer, then when you install Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin.
The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with it’s own templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. For more details, please take a look here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Better deactivate the plugin and see the results.
If this problem is still there, then you can look for a plugin conflict. Please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
Let me know about your results!
Thank you!
Done to no avail. Although I added this line of code to my functions.php to optimize image. Could that have affected?
add_filter( ‘jpeg_quality’, create_function(”, ‘return 50;’ ) );

If you don’t use Mobile theme, then you can create a header/footer for the mobile page, or convert the header/footer from desktop like this: https://www.screencast.com/t/dDe4WoCd ; then after convert you can modify them with TagDiv Composer.
Hope that helps you!
Thank you!
Hello,
For increase speed, you can use the mobile theme plugin. you’ll gain a better speed then responsive version of the theme, but in order to achieve that speed you’ll need to create a new content for pages because in the most of cases those were made with builders or shortcodes ( tagDiv Composer, WPBakery ) and you need to use only the mobile editor ( you need to set the content for pages in the mobile editor and this content will be display on the mobile theme, also the mobile theme will not display any sidebar)

Also, we have the option mobile page -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/ this option is to can create mobile pages using tagDiv Composer, also now this option is availed to create cloud templates for the mobile theme too, to can set the layout you want to a mobile website.
Hope this helps you!

Hello !
Similar to smush you can use Autoptimize or EWWW Image optimizer. This is what we have mostly seen on our users.
Thank you !
The Newspaper theme you guys have built is excellent in so many ways. But one real shortcoming is the difficulty in making custom page types. For example, with the current proliferation of fake news, most news aggregators, (Facebook included), expect news orgs to have at least 10 additional pages that cover ethics, ownerships, masthead, public policy, corrections, etc.
But Newspaper theme in its current state, provides no template for creating custom page types. So I have to create a cloud template, write the info into a column text box, optimize by screen size, copy the entire code to a new page, then copy the column text into the mobile editor and optimize everything for AMP. None of this can be done in Gutenberg and just saved as a custom page type.
With the critical nature of these additional pages in today’s media ecosystem, future newspaper updates should include a “policies” custom and page type/taxonomy.
Hello,
If you hide elements on mobile this does not increase speed, the elements are still loaded, but are only hidden for mobile.
If you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ you’ll be able to increase the speed of your website.
Also, to increase the page speed you can check this similar topic for more solutions:

Hello @mines2market!
If you mean you need a button called “Load More” for your pagination, then you can achieve this by editing that page with TagDiv Composer, and you will find in “Posts Loop” element settings like in this screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/E8rOlD4jHMp
I’m sorry that you are facing issues using Newspaper Theme. The page loading speed for both mobile and desktop depends on many factors and you can’t compare an empty theme like Twenty Twenty with a fully functional, features loaded theme like Newspaper that helps you create a website in a few hours.
We are building a long term collaboration with our customers. You can see on our demos what page loading speed score can a website loaded with content can have. However, page loading speed can depend on many factors, and each website is unique from this point of view.
Let me explain some of these factors and maybe they give you some starting points for optimizing your website.
External factors: server speed, if you are using CDN or not, the external resources loaded by your website like ads, fonts, tracking scripts like Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Twitter analytics, Hotjar and so on.
Internal factors: the number of elements on the page, image size, image formats, if you are using mobile optimized layouts, console errors, if you are using the Standard Pack plugin on not, if you are using PRO demo or a standard one.
We can’t not provide a solution for you here, right now as we do not know what are the conditions on your website. You can make the following tests:
1. Activate tagdiv Composer and Standard Pack, install a standard demo and check the page loading speed, then disable the Standard Pack and activate the cloud template and install a pro demo. You’ll see that the speed will improve significantly. Also, you should consider creating the mobile optimized pages for each of your pages to improve the speed on the small screen devices.
2. Test your website in a page speed test la GTMetrix or Google Pagespeed Insights and check the loading time on the ads, fonts and tracking scripts – if there is something there that slows your website down, take action.
Our developers are constantly working on improving Newspaper Theme performance. If you need our help, please send us an email at bogdan@tagdiv.com, we’ll evaluate your client’s website and see if there is something we can do to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding!

We were starting a project to use Yoast to fix up our pages that lacked good Meta Descriptions for better SERP display. Right now a tool like Screaming Frog reports most of our content pages have no Meta Description. But my intern noticed that when displaying the source code that this line:
<meta property=”og:description” content=”
picks up the first 300 or so characters of the on-page copy. Is this being populated by Newspaper? Ultimately we will use Yoast to write better optimized Meta Descriptions but just want to know how this gets there and why (if you know) Screaming Frog or Aherd report the page as having no Meta Description.
Thanks.
If I disable the Category Top Posts style on the individual category, the most recent posts show for ‘FA Cup’.
But nothing happens when I try to make any changes to Category Template. And the dropdown menu still doesn’t appear.
It’s as if something could be preventing the top bar from showing?
The only reason I thought it might be was because I blocked a .js script with Autoptimize. But deactivating Autoptimize had no effect.
On this custom category page, however, I hardcoded the top post style grid and it does work (with dropdown). I can do this as a workaround but I’m confused why theme panel is having no effect normally.
