Hello – I have selected Featured Image Placeholder at Post Settings / Featured Image Placeholder but no placeholder appears when I don’t add a featured image to a post.

“When a post doesn’t have a featured image set, the theme will load a placeholder image.”

I have no image loaded at Block Settings / Thumb Placeholder, but I thought a blank image should appear by default?

“If the thumbnail image is not enabled for a specific module that you use, the module will show a default placeholder with the size of the image and instructions about how to enable the thumb for that module”

Hi,

I’ve been attempting to add a background image into a row for a search function. See https://www.portnow.com.au/port-pages/

I have added a grey background as a placeholder showing what I need.

I tried the fixed background image in tagdiv composer by checking the box but couldn’t find who to actually add the image I want. I also attempted adding a background image element to the row but then couldn’t add the search function code (it would only add in the rows above and below – not the target row).

So am at a bit of a loss. Can you please assist by supplying instructions to achieve what I want?

Thanks

Hi,

I noticed that lazy load for featured image in modules built with module builder works different to the normal lazy-laod. This lazy-load uses a grey placeholder, whereas for the normal modules it’s just white background with an option in theme panel to use custom thumbnail placeholder image to appear before image loads. There’s no lazy-load placeholder customization option for module builder. But, that’s OK. It looks just fine.

But the problem is, If I have 10-12 articles on my homepage, some of the images do not load if I scroll too fast. I understand that a normal visitor will rarely do that, but still. If it’s a bug, it should be reported and fixed.

On homepage, I have 9 articles as default with infinite load pagination. Currently I only have 15 post in total, so the infinite load only makes a single request to load the rest of the posts (15-9-6) <9. If I scroll too fast, some of the images do not load (not just for the articles that are paginated, sometimes even for the articles that are already there (first 9), but are below the screen viewport(lazy-loaded)). Sometimes occurs for one image, sometimes 2, sometimes more. When scroll is done at normal(slow) speed, everything works normally.

Edit: Also, there’s no option to switch this lazy load off. And, does this new module builder use the built- in wordpress lazy load feature?

Hi,

1.
Yes, that is it, thanks!

2.
This is the mentioned section (original):
https://imgur.com/a/LBNLxCu

The order of appearance of these icons&text around the central image is important to me.

When in mobile version, they are positioned vertically, and that’s OK, but they don’t appear in the same order as in the desktop version (in original as well as in my case).

When I try to rearrange them (drag&drop), they don’t look good – the first and the second image are always divided with the noticeable gap, etc. No matter how much I try, just cannot position them properly when trying to change the order.

I tried to change the dimensions of the central image, just in case if that’s the reason, but that accomplishes nothing.

Maybe you have an idea what would be the solution…

(3.) If that’s not a problem, I have an additional question – it regards the anchor links, also on the homepage.

Let’s say that, instead of opening a page, I want this to jump to this section. How can I do that? To be more precise, how do I make that or any other section a placeholder (if that is the right term).

Thank you very much for the help.

Sincerely,

M.

Hi there,

we are facing an issue with the Flex Block only.
When we create new posts we often have the thumb placeholder not showing, actually nothing – which then causes the formating to fail for our newsroom page.

You can check the normal behaviour here: https://www.livetube.tv/news

Here is an example how it looks when the first image is not showing and also not the thumb placeholder
https://app.screencast.com/HQv1Q5nE4fzLq

Here with magnifier
https://app.screencast.com/w9BRg0tku0qUk

Here is a link to our thumb placeholder
https://www.livetube.tv/news/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2022/11/Placeholder-Large-LiveTube.jpg

For all other blocks the thumb placeholder is showing correctly

We would appreciate your help with this

Thanks

Hi Bettina,

This is a sample with the demo articles.
The home page consists of a sample of each category.

Each category will be displayed like this, one under another.
So, 6 rows in total. Each category row will have 3 articles shown.

https://imgur.com/a/ztMsTOV

Since I’m building up this site and social media presence I’ll be publishing 1-2 articles per day so it will take a bit of time to fill up all those slots on the home page.

So where there is no article yet I want to display maybe a fixed article with always the same image. Sort of like a placeholder, but that entices the audience to let us know exactly what content they like to see.

So I’m thinking about having one article like that but trying to find a way to show it up wherever there are no 3 articles in each row yet.

Hi,

I did a test and for me works https://i.imgur.com/KXTIbUR.png
So if the posts don’t have the featured image, then they will display a blank thumb; you can set a placeholder.
You can set a Placeholder in Theme Panel -> Blocks Settings -> https://i.imgur.com/mo0Cbu2.png.

Thank you!

Hi,

What image did you have set for the placeholder?

Hello!
I need help, to understand why the preloaded images are kept after embedding an image, that’s bad when the image is smaller than the markup image, you see the borders of the markup image. Attached screenshots of the problem and how I could solve it.

Hello,

Unfortunately, if a post doesn’t have a featured image, and the rest have a featured image, you can’t hide that thumb only for that post; that is why I said to set a placeholder.
I recommend creating a new block, hiding the featured image for that block, and setting the posts that don’t add a featured image.

Thank you!

Well what I’m saying is if there is no featured image, there’s like a blank piece of paper placeholder image. How can I set that to a default image.

While making the mobile single cloud template, it has placeholder images. In the attached image, some pictures in the block will align left, some centre, and some right. Is there a way to make all images in this block align centre?

Got it – thanks!

So does this mean I can’t mix articles with no images with articles that have images? For these articles, I don’t want a placeholder. I was hoping to be able to alternate with title only –> and then articles that do have a title. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

Hi Bettina, thanks for getting back. That’s why I have shared a link. I can also take out the featured images and re-produce the issue. It does not seem to be a caching error as we only encounter the problem in the first block – the flex block (please see screenshots). For all other blocks the placeholder image is correctly showing.

Please advise

Thanks

Hi there, we are facing a problem with BigGrid Flex Blocks and general Flex Blocks.
When there is no image, then these blocks are shown destroyed or just with blue background since there is no placeholder image loaded.

We have a placeholder image in the dashboard which is showing fine for all other blocks.
Just the top block (flex block) somehow does mot pick up any placeholder image.
Hope you can help

I realize that Newspaper Theme creates a lot of thumbnails. Unfortunately they are the burdens on storage.

Every module only allows a limited list of thumbnails, so you cannot optimize at all.

Here’s the Tagdiv current rules:

If the thumbnail image is not enabled for a specific module that you use, the module will show a default placeholder with the size of the image and instructions about how to enable the thumb for that module.

Can I use Original image instead as a default thumbnail?

Or, can I make every module have all thumbnail options?

I don’t have any issues with thumbnails that I’m aware of. My problem is with the images in the single post placeholder.

Thanks Calin but how do I rectify my issue here ?

I have a large number of images, all of which are resized to 1000px wide for landscape orientation and 1000px high for portrait orientation. The other setting in both cases is variable.

The landscape orientation placeholder displays 1000px wide images perfectly for width but often crops out part of the height so is clearly trying to fit to a consistent height and they are not consistent height images.

The placeholder for portrait orientation images is all over the place and displays the image to the left and also crops out most of the height. It appears to be trying to force the portrait image into the placeholder set for landscape images.

I’m basically wanting the uploaded images to display in full, in the center and with no placeholder border showing.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure if the added code is changing this but whilst the placeholder is perfect width wise, it is cropping the vertical height. All of my images are 1000px wide but the heights are variable so can that be reflected in the code otherwise I’m cropping some of the images.

Hello,

You can set a Placeholder in Theme Panel -> Blocks Settings -> https://i.imgur.com/mo0Cbu2.png.
Also, in the editor, please check if the Featured image is enabled in the post editor from Preferences -> Panels -> https://i.imgur.com/sugnYMJ.png -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/

Thank you!

In documentation, unless it has updated, I see in the theme panel I should be able to see Featured Image section in the Post section.
I don’t see anything though.
In theme panel under Post settings there is nothing about featured image. Has this changed or moved somewhere?
Thank you
