We also use “thumbnail upscale” plugin to make some of the smaller images a tad bigger, since we had a lot of 300x and 500x images and wanted them to fit 640x sizes. Fun 🙂

And of course “regenerate thumbnails” to get it all working right.

Had couple of ooooooold websites with same issue. The auto post thumbnail pro really saved the day for us. 🙂

Hi,

I’m also having problems with the big slide.

On load, the area where the big slide should appear is blank. But if you resize the browser all the images appear. So I’m not sure if this is perhaps a responsive issue? I don’t have any errors in the console. So I’m not sure what the cause could be.

My install background:
Purchased on 30 December 2014. Installed the 31st December 2014 release version.
Installed dummy data.
Regenerated thumbnails using the plugin provided in your documentation, as this site had existing content.

Hi,
The images should be fine there, please can you regenerate the thumbnails, because there should be the full images, not cropped.

or create a new slider and use new images that are not in your media library and see if works.

Thanks for the message!

And of course you need to use regenerate thumbnails plugin to rebuild all your thumbs with a new crop setting.
You will of course need to experiment with this.

Hi,

Unfortunately none of the themes has such an option, you can check the demos to see what’s possible on them, sorry.

1. Your server response issue is much worse – http://screencast.com/t/GzowiIEu3m3
For images try a plugin like Smush it – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/
Or add the following code at the end of the functions.php file:

add_filter( 'jpeg_quality', create_function('', 'return 50;' ) );

It will compress all future added images to 50%, but you have to regenerate the thumbs for the images that were already uploaded, you can doit using the Force Regenerate plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/

2. Check if it’s not hidden – http://screencast.com/t/kiODtMN1n

Thank you, Emil G.

Theme cannot break image location or remove items from your media lists/folder.

You should regenerate thumbnails to fit news sizes used in theme.

If you check your media/uploads folder via FTP, you might be able to check on the permissions for that folder. If you accidentally deleted that, it would not be recoverable; hopefully you backed up your site prior to making major changes.

An example image link, like so – does appear missing:
http://dance.land/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nathan-barnatts-curious-dances.jpg

However installing the theme does not delete your /uploads/ folder unless you did that manually. If you deleted the /uploads/ folder, or the /wp-content/ folder for some reason, then that would have deleted the images folder.

Ideally you should double check with your hosting provider in case they have some bizarre setting which impacts that folder in some way.

Hi,

1. Follow this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
2. The images should only be regenerated if, for some reason, the thumbs are missing (were not generated).

Thank you, Emil G.

Thanks for the help.

1. Can you please tell me how to regenerate the thumbnails using Newsmag?
2. Do i need to regenerate these thumbnails each time i create image gallery?

If you’re using some kind of image management plugin, it may be the culprit (e.g., JetPack Photo, etc.).

I’ve never seen this happen on ANY WordPress website before.

You might try
1) clear all caching; reset CDN if using one.
2) disable any image modification plugins.
3) perhaps try regenerate thumbnails plugin.

The theme doesn’t do that, so it’s likely something funky you’re running on your site which is doing that someplace. Often you need to clear cache, turn off all plugins except Visual Composer, then check your pages again. Then go from there.

Visual Composer was updated with theme 1.31 the other day; it updated the version of Visual Composer which broke due to WordPress 4.1 update.

The plugin is updated separate from the theme, as it’s a plugin. So you have to delete old plugin, and install the newer version.

Newsmag 1.31 just updates the plugin, which can be installed alone if you already have Newsmag 1.3.

The updated version of Visual Composer (changelog):
19.12.2014 - ver 4.3.5
- Compatibility with WP 4.1

For images, make sure you have regenerated thumbnails for the theme sizes.

If youre referring to the headlines at top block, you need to regenerate your thumbnails to fit size of the boxes.

Use the regenerate thumbnails plugin.

Hi,

@Bayu
Please let me know if this happens again and also provide a screenshot of this issue and your site’s URL so we can inspect this. Also please make sure that you updated your theme to the latest version and if this still happens please also try @handiso’s solution and regenerate fonts.

Thanks

Hi thanks for a great theme! I recently setup our site with MaxCDN and integrated into W3TC plugin. I read thru your documentation carefully — making sure to only use for page cache, not JS minify or anything else.

After implementing the CDN, I next tried using a plugin called Imsanity to optimize all my images. Somehow once I regenerated all my images, it seems to have broke my CSS. Especially the woocommerce product image sizes.

Our site is http://www.askdrmaxwell.com

Can you please take a look at the homepage (towards the bottom) there are 5 products, and they are supposed to be all next to each other in one row.. however now the spacing is all jumbled and not right.

Also on any individual product page, the images are now much too large! I’ve tried to set woocommerce product size in woocommerce settings.. and then use regenerate thumbnails plugin, and also reset cache. However, this does not fix the issue.

Can you please help?

Thanks again!

Oh if you choose to use that code you will need to Regenerate Thumbnails after to see any effect…

Hi,

Please add this compression change line to your functions.php file, turn off smush-it, and then do regenerate thumbnails.

add_filter( 'jpeg_quality', create_function( '', 'return 100;' ) );

Test this by uploading a new image and check if you see any differences.
Please let me know!

Thanks

Hi,

I have tried your site on emulator for both cases and haven’t found any issues with your social sharing icons: http://screencast.com/t/kWk0fJciPB
You could try this solution suggested by @handiso and regenerate the newsmag font following the steps provided here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/icons-missing/page/2/#post-29906

Thanks

Hi,

I have tested your site and haven’t found any black background in mega menu and it looks fine now: http://screencast.com/t/zPFg7bK2Of
For the images that don’t look right like the one I pointed in the screenshot you should use the “Regenerate thumbnails” plugin and regenerate all your thumbs and also make sure that you use an image larger enough to fit all containers.

Thanks

Hi,

Just go the function file and comment the ones you don’t need then regenerate thumbnails again: http://screencast.com/t/iWbNtt8l2O
You can add text to the module file which you use like this: http://screencast.com/t/SRDWojVQCi7
Result: http://screencast.com/t/sEeZsPIWA
Hope this helps!

Thanks
