Hey, i use New comments block in right sidebar, when there are some comments i see only the name of person who commented and the name of the post.
Is there an option to display a kind of preview of the comment in this block too?
Maybe you’re right, but I am using only landscape pics. 🙂 And the person without head is only in preview, with click on it becomes full w/h. 😉
i want to change the image size of “Block 7” in which files should i do this modifying? will the cropping of the image size also change?
or should i do a new block template?
(actually i need quadratic images in a blockview)
can i add author and categorie of a post to the meta-info in the block-view (preview posts list)?

Thanks for the new feature of “Post template:” in post pages. However, it doesn’t over-ride site-wide settinges if featured image is disabled from Theme Settings. Also it can’t make site-wide post settings. It can be a really useful feature if you can implement this:
1. Offer “Post template” in Theme Settings for ‘Posts and Pages’. Then one can select the ‘default’ templete site-wide.
2. Continue to offer “Post template” with post as well so they can change the default view of that post in case of review or interviews or small news items where one may not need the featured image or need better presentation.
3. Also offer a templete with no featured image, so there is complete control.
I belive this feature will make the theme extremely useful for publishers as they will have better control over presentation.
I would personally appreciate the addition of “Post Templete” in Theme Settings with ability to over-rigt it from posts.
We don’t use featured image per post as at time many ‘Open Source’ news items don’t need an image on top of every story so disabling the featured image it important. But sometimes we do need to show featured image on top of some stories so ability to over right default settings and show image would be great.
In current set-up even if I choose a Post Templete from a post to show featured image it doesn’t over-rite the default.

Hi,
I’ve always said that the theme is awesome and it still is. It would be more better if you guys adds some more colour to it. For example, in the review system, there is not colour only white and light gray.
I have an idea to change it. If something has more than 7+ in the review, it will show as green, if its 5+ it will show yellow-ish and if its under 5, it will be red. I am pretty sure that it is possible.
If you are planning to add it please let me know. If not, can you please tell me how can it be done?

I’m having problems with creating page jumps within my posts using this command
What it does is that the link is opening in a new tab instead of jumping within the same page, which I definitely don’t want.

The Customize page in WordPress will not allow me to edit anything for the Newspaper theme. However, WordPress will allow me to edit other themes, so the problem lies within the theme. I am not able to click on anything to edit. And the live previews does not show either. Can you help me with this issue?
Make sure the server is running deflate/gzip properly, and you have the proper expires headers set, and server side normal caching if so provided, …. compression and expires headers are good for at least 20 points.
Just for a reference point, one of my pages on the test site, with caching plugin turned off, and the disqus, adsense stuff running (3 ad spots), Gravatar, and one YouTube video.

I need to swap out Gravatar for local author image and should shave off 708bytes from the featured image upload (has “red” in it, so didn’t compress as much).
With the gravatar fixed, and if I ignore the “errors” from Disqus and AdSense, it’s totally in a doable range for us.
I think it works out to be 93/83 without the “errors” on there.
Not bad since NOT running any caching plugin, not using CDN, and not using a minification plugin other than mod_pagespeed optimizing the pages on the fly.

How to insert a horizontal line between the image previews on the main page in the categories and archives?
We have 7 or 8 sites in Google News. One got kicked out 3 years back when we added a couple of columnists who Google didn’t like (a psychic who was writing about some spiritual stuff, but it wasn’t “news” — learned lesson on that one). We removed one. Working on new site to submit. We have one site in GN using this theme, and another site we’re working on — it’s actually being used for other things too like testing mod_pagespeed on our server, and some things related to syndication.
Having original images for each post also really helps – not copied from other sites. So, if you do a review of a video game – make your owm images. Stuff like that. Make sure your post titles are UNQIUE too. Basic SEO stuff, obviously; but Google hates news sites with only “duplicate” content.

Maybe you are trying to do something different with your links? I would send them your issue in a new forum topic and give them your login info in a private email when they ask for it. They have been cool with helping me with all my little issues.

Actually, this doesn’t work at all, it gets rid of the issue in the preview, but links don’t work with single quotes…
