Please try to enable also like buttons from Theme Panel > Post Settings – http://screencast.com/t/BBrLbRuGV0 and also twitter share will pop up. Also if you don’t want to display like/tweet buttons you can use this custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css to hide them – http://screencast.com/t/FODVkKei

Also the result of this is Facebook trying to play a video on the Newsfeed, which doens’t work and just creates a blank white space mostly.
Can this be disabled somehow so articles with videos still show as content type article? or at least this functionality gets disabled and it shows like a regular post on Facebook with a large thumbnail?

Youtube makes their money to pay for free video hosting by running ads. You might want to spend some time on youtube looking at the help and faqs related to sharing and embedding videos. The theme justs embeds the video, it doesnt control how youtube serves content from their system.

Have you seen this explanation:
First of all: if you never tried to share a page with FB, FB never tried to scrape it, and it will not try to do so if you only put the url in the Debug tool. That’s the first reason because you get the error: it just states that FB has no information on the page, you must “force” it to scrape the page.
The first time you try to share a page, FB scrapes it (asks your server the first 40k of the page and analyse the opengraph tags). What can happen is that you do not see the image: Facebook Share Dialog does not display thumbnails one first load
The reason is that FB behind the scenes is still scraping your page and caching the image. The next time, in fact, you have also the image. How to solve it? Pre caching: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#precaching

Yeah, that’s where I can switch sharing on/off altogether.
But how can I disable only classic sharing, what’s called .td-classic-sharing in your CSS?
@NTellier85 The setting for that spot is under Post Settings > Sharing in the theme panel. Operates separately from the other settings for icons and counters.

Is there anyway we get the appropriate Image for the Article while sharing socially?
(While sharing to GooglePlus, the original image is replaced by some old ones and I have to click next and next and so on till I get the correct Image and then publish.It really is frustrating sometimes.)

I think I usually take the sissy way out and just avoid the mods that put me in a position of changing things twice. Is that sad or what? haha
Need to get familiar with the new API. Although it’ll be a while before it touches on the areas I tend to modify, like the default sharing buttons. Between the API as a plugin and the Custom CSS settings, the child theme is becoming more irrelevant.
Speaking of jaded, color me jade regarding WordPress in general. I’ve been branching toward so-called lightweight CMS solutions like Bolt CMS and as it turns out, it puts WP to shame on performance, function, and customizability for a news site not dissimilar to those you run. But that’s for another topic.
Just going along to get along for now. Gonna get that parent theme going again. It’ll fix my block 18 thumbnail issue too.
How can i change where the “facebook” button gets data from. I need to modify what is shown when the post is shared on facebook.

The share links are opening in the same window because you have altered the code and somehow broken the default behavior. Newspaper comes with share links that open in a popup. Use the original files to revert the remaining links back to their default state.

Use that plugin for WhatsApp integration, or search for others.
The classic Facebook and Twitter buttons can be removed from the theme settings panel. Go to Post Settings > Sharing to administrate those options.
Hi Sir, I am not good in coding so I am messed up all the way. This is my website: http://www.kickscoop.com I removed the pinterest and google+ share button from blog post. Now i want all these things to be customized in Social share buttons:
1) Adding a “Share on Whatsapp” button both in top and bottom of the post. Also customize the buttom to look green and have whatsapp icon (Whatsapp Share URL: whatsapp://send?text=The text to share! [Got it from Stackoverflow] )
2) Remove the Classic Facebook like and Twitter tweet button from bottom sharing buttons and also remove the boxed part. Both the sharing buttons present above and below should look nearly the same. Also after clicking “Tweet on Twitter” the share url should popup, not open it in the same tab.
3) “Share on Whatsapp” button should be visible only on tablet and mobile devices but not in desktop devices.
Sir, Can you please help me to customize? If you can just edit the codes and share it with me or I can mail you my login credentials so that you can make change directly from my admin panel if you wish. Thanks in advance

I was hoping there was a way to put a common element at the bottom of every post (either above or below the sharing elements), in the same way you can add blocks on a page (via VC), but it doesn’t sound like that’s possible without modifying the code.
