- NewspaperSmart Sidebar
Hello d85,
Provide your website URL so I can take a closer look at it and also, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. Normally, the Sidebar should have respect the default theme’s positions according to our documentation which can be found here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
when I try to scroll down a post with smartsidebar enabled this happens: https://gyazo.com/0f22e3796f65b82775c050372c48b7f7
As you can see seems that the sidebar is resized to a fixed width (228px) without a sense. How can I stop this ?
Actually, I figured out how to do it. The question now is: how do I make particular smart sidebars, or the modules/blocks contained within them, have the hyperlinks to the posts they contain open in new tabs/windows?

I have a client who wants to have the ‘smart sidebar’ load relevant posts for specific WooCommerce products. I think this could be possible if I can somehow create a widget that is called when a particular product’s page is loaded. Of course, the widget would need to load the posts I would assign to a particular category related to the WooCommerce product.
Essentially, they sell about 30 products. However, for each of the products they want to have anywhere from 3 to 6 posts load in the sidebar (depending on product).
Is this do-able?
Hi,
1. Here you can find more information about the sidebars, and smart sidebars
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Also the tagDiv composer
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Each block can have a post limit set, you can control the amount of posts it displays
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
Like in this example
– https://www.screencast.com/t/go01B8jTmc
– https://www.screencast.com/t/JOKPEkFZlI8
Then maybe add a different row and split that as well in any way you like, and so on
– https://www.screencast.com/t/iqewtV4s
2. That will be the order of the page content on mobile. Sidebars will be displayed below the main content, for each row. You could set a smart sidebar in one row, that will always be in view (sticky), not multiple sidebars for different rows.
You can experiment with different settings and layouts until you create the result you want.
Please let us know if you have more questions, or you require further help.
Thanks
Hi,
There are two ways of setting a sidebar for a page built with the composer. One way is to simply split the row on the page like this
– https://www.screencast.com/t/zuriAKnU
And enter elements in the resulting sidebar section. The other method is to use a Widget sidebar, in which you can select from your available sidebars
– https://www.screencast.com/t/EvO9AGMq
More information about sidebars here
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Removing the sidebar will require to open the page with the composer, and make your desired modifications to it.
Please let us know if you require further help, or you have more questions.
Thanks
Hello Vegasrenie,
Please notice that our theme was fully tested with the smart sidebar functionality and it seems to work as expected on my side, sorry! Notice that functionality comes from Jave Script and this can be corrupted if you are using some untested plugins which can cause this effect. Try to disable all of them, leave just only bundled plugins to be active, clear all the caches and check the results. For more information about smart sidebar, please check the following documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
The simplest way to achieving the Gadgets demo is to import the demo at your website and using it with your data/posts/pages. If you do not like this way, you should inspect our demo preview with the Inspector browser because in that way you can identify what kind of blocks element is used. For more details about this, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/create-custom-code-using-the-browsers-inspector/
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
Looks like i could not make you understand
When enabling “Smart Sidebar” element in Template Settings – it makes the whole Sidebar Sticky – right?
But i don’t need to make whole Sidebar Sticky – I only need to make a single Widget in a Sidebar Sticky – that “Smart Sidebar” can not do
So i need help of a plugin – that allows to make a single widget in a Sidebar sticky
I have tried Sticky Plugins in WordPress directory but they did not work with Newspaper theme,
And this is the problem i faced,
Did you get the point?
Hello ahmedshawan,
Please notice that’s not needed to use any additional plugin to achieve sticky sidebar, sorry! You can achieve this effect if you are using only the default theme’s elements. To place your widgets to your sidebar you simply just using the Widgetised Sidebar element, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/iRRElByaZTS For more information about how you can manage your sidebars, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebar-ads/ If is not what you mean, please provide more details and also, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your sidebars. Provide there the link to this topic so we can quickly identify you.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
This could be happening because of an extra padding set for the sidebar
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Q8PIXANUL
The smart sidebar is a complex process that calculates automatically when to become sticky. I believe that padding is interfering with this functionality, and causing the elements in the sidebar to appear to be resizing. Try to remove the code, and check the results.
Thanks
Hi,
I could not say if there are plans of making modifications to how the smart sidebar feature works. Activating the feature will make the whole sidebar sticky, not just an element in the sidebar content.
Thanks
Hello mradamrothwell,
Do you are referring to the Smart Sidebar? For more information about this feature, please check the following topic here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello aaffleck,
First of all, please make sure that you have followed all the steps from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/ on the correct use of Smart Sidebar.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
There are some meta properties in the page source fromm what I can see, but the Yoast SEO plugin does not seem to be installed
– https://www.screencast.com/t/vB8N8RsC0OT
The plugin has to be installed and configured properly, it alone handles all the social sharing. The theme does not have any options in this matter, or does it affect the sharing.
The debugger detects the required meta as missing from the page.
For the crawl image problem, maybe you can check if there is an error log specifying what exactly is the problem with the images in the posts
– https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35120?hl=en
Find if there are any errors and why they are caused and test again
-https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6066468?hl=en
Some possible causes and useful information here
– https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6098154?hl=en
– https://www.searchenginejournal.com/definitive-list-reasons-google-isnt-indexing-site/118245/
– https://moz.com/blog/how-to-fix-crawl-errors-in-google-search-console
The smart sidebar has to be enabled in the theme panel
– https://www.screencast.com/t/3snWdHMu
These issues could be caused by plugins, try deactivating all your plugins except theme plugins and Yoast SEO, clear any installed caching and make tests. Check custom code in the theme panel, or added to the theme files directly.
Thanks
You have to activate the smart sidebar option mskssk1.
Read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
On http://www.ringsideintel.com/ the smart sidebar is only affecting the lower sidebar of two sidebars. How do we get it working for the upper one (either so both are working or so that only the top one works)?
When disabling autooptimize i get the same errors. See screenshot of error here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fg2cntik8tdv4el/Sk%C3%A6rmbillede%202017-09-20%2012.25.41.png?dl=0
It points to this line of code:
(b+=tdAffix.menu_offset));”undefined”!==typeof window.tdThemeName&&”Newspaper”===window.tdThemeName&&(b+=20);var d=””;a!==tdSmartSidebar.scroll_window_scrollTop_last&&(d=a>tdSmartSidebar.scroll_window_scrollTop_last?”down”:”up”);tdSmartSidebar.scroll_window_scrollTop_last=a;var e=jQuery(window).height(),f=a+e;a+=b;for(var l=0;l<tdSmartSidebar.items.length;l++){var g=tdSmartSidebar.items[l];g.content_top=g.content_jquery_obj.offset().top;g.content_height=g.content_jquery_obj.height();g.content_bottom=….keeps going here

Hi,
The smart sidebar sticks and scrolls fine on all pages but NOT on front page.
My website is here
How can I solve this?
Hi,
This can be done with css. Please ad the following code in the theme panel-> custom css box:
.td-pb-span4.td-main-sidebar, .td-ss-main-sidebar{
background-color:grey!important;
}
However it cannot be used with a smart sidebar though as the padding changes when the sidebar scrolls down.
Thanks
