Hi,
Is it essential to update the theme all the time when update release?
And if yes, is there any quick, hassle free way to update it, like plugins?
Thanks & Regards
Debarup
in td_less_editor-style.php
you include Sources via:
echo ‘
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans:400,700,400italic,700italic);
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Vollkorn:400italic,700italic,400,700);
‘;
But this of course leads to very bad errors, when using the site with SSL. These resources will not be loaded. Please only include Resources Protocoll-Relative/Protocoll-Indpedant like (not tested):
@import url(//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans:400,700,400italic,700italic);
@import url(//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Vollkorn:400italic,700italic,400,700);
Please fix this in a new vesion!
Thanks
Hi,
Try this custom css for Slider: http://screencast.com/t/cPRGUo4o
.td_normal_slide .td-theme-slider.iosSlider-col-3 .td-module-thumb img {
min-height: 100%;
}
.td_normal_slide .td-theme-slider.iosSlider-col-3 .td-module-thumb a, .td_normal_slide .td-theme-slider.iosSlider-col-3 .td-module-thumb {
height: 100%;
}
Thanks!
Hello,
I have a background mage set in my theme options and it no longer shows up. And when I delete and try to choose it again, there are no images displayed in the “media library” tab of the uploaded. I cut and paste the URL form the media library and still nothing. It was working earlier, I do not know what happened between then and now. If I choose a color for the background, it works flawlessly.
Thanks
Hi,
Use this custom css and change the color as you like: http://screencast.com/t/q2vkowdQTI
.iosSlider.td_block_big_grid .td-icon-left, .iosSlider.td_block_big_grid .td-icon-right {
color: red !important;
}
Thanks
Hi,
I’m not sure if you want this, but you can try to add border for Big Slide and change the color for existing border(between Big slider posts) using custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css: http://screencast.com/t/PSWqypkz7
.td-big-grid-post-1, .td-big-grid-post-2 {
border-bottom: 3px solid red;
}
.iosSlider.td_block_big_grid.td_block_wrap {
border: 1px solid red;
}
.td_block_big_grid .td-big-grid-post-0 {
border-right: 3px solid red;
}
Thanks!
Hey guys, tried looking for a simple solution but couldn’t find one.
I create some fancy images for my site, the featured images are optimized a lot, but it seems like wordpress doesn’t optimize the thumbnails as I get a bunch of stuff like this on PageSpeed:
Losslessly compressing http://evolvehype.com/…ploads/2015/03/ehlprodivision-100×65.jpg could save 249.5KiB (98% reduction).
What’s the easiest way so that the thumbnails are much smaller?
Thanks!
LE: As I have found out, the modifications you’ve done to your theme make it incompatible with cloudflare’s rocketloader and mirage 2 systems : https://www.cloudflare.com/overview
I’ve been wanting to ask you how I can make rocketloader work seamlessly with your theme, but now I have to know how to make both systems work with the theme, as they make the website really fast, and I need them.
As I am guessing, the new lazyload system is the one to blame for the missing images, so I need to at least disable that in order to make things work, if there can’t be any compatibility between them.

Welllll…..
here’s the thing …. if you don’t have robust hosting, I’d likely consider NOT using ANY theme running Visual Composer. All during 2014 with the Newspaper theme we’ve seen zero problems with CPU stuff, but during 2015 it seems they are using bleeding edge stuff to give power users all the stuff they have been demanding … unfortunately a lot of people want their site to do stuff that takes 500 processes and their hosting account can only do 150, and kaboom.
I’m still running the Nov. 2014 version of Newspaper for one of my blogs. Zero hassles. But I didn’t update every time a new version comes out since I didn’t need the extra 50 things added.
So, it’s kind of a tricky thing … I think VC needs to have a “developer mode” and a “deployment mode” where you have all the bells and whistles for design, then “export” your settings for a “lean” setup for actual deployment. But, it isn’t quite that clean yet.
TagDiv chose to use VC 2 years back as it was the coolest thing since sliced bread, and still is. There is another open source very very simple pagebuilder, and couple of page builders which cost $99/year (and stop working unless you keep paying!). So, for a complex layout builder like this… VC is really kind of the “standard” right this second.
Then again depends on well optimized server. I’m running multiple installs of Newsmag and Newspaper, and server not overloaded in the slightest.
Hi and thanks in advance,
I updated the theme a few days ago, I notice i see a warning in chrome:

Hi,
I have run into a weird issue when I installed wpDiscuz plugin for my client and his website. When I click any article on the home page, the rendered target page with the article has no clickable URL links at all. This issue was reported by people using the Microsoft Explorer and Opera browsers only. Firefox and Google Chrome work all right. When I uninstall the WpDiscuz plugin, the issue is gone. When the Newspaper theme is disabled, the glitch is gone and wpDiscuz works flawlessly even on MSIE or Opera. So, there must be some glitch in the Newspaper theme or some kind of incompatibility. Is there any way how to fix this issue?
Start MSIE or Opera and try it for yourselves: http://goo.gl/U43bYK
Hi,
Thanks @unplug.tips and sorry for all the trouble!
Please note that we are constantly working on improving our products, all this issues related to the SSL integration have been added on our todo list and are on our attention for future versions. We also plan to improve our documentation in the future and hopefully we will manage to prevent this in the future.
Sorry again for all inconveniences, glad you’ve managed to work it out eventually!
Thanks
Hi,
The theme’s normal slider was designed to work best by using thumbs and unfortunately if the images isn’t large enough to fill the whole container the image will not fit the slider. WordPress doesn’t enlarge images so if you aren’t using a larger enough image which can fit the thumb container then you could try a plugin like Thumbnail Upscale to enlarge thumbnails: https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/
You can also use custom css to enlarge thumbnaisl in the slider, like this: http://screencast.com/t/GWzaG8xrEdt
.iosSlider-col-3 .entry-thumb {
width: 100%;
}
Thanks
Hi FiftyFifty,
When you updated the theme did you do it via FTP? If you did, it wont work properly.
As Chris suggested, you need to do the update as per his guide, even if you didn’t do it by FTP it’s worth going through it again just to be sure.
Add a new theme (any) to act as a temporary
Delete the old theme in wordpress back end
Delete the VC and social counter plugins
Clear all caches including browser
Disable all the other plugins
Reload the theme via wordpress uploader and activate
Upload the plugins manually from the theme download file not from the on screen message in the plugin page
Activate all plugins
Test again
If that doesn’t do it go back to the wp_booster/td_video_support.php file and check very carefully that you got all the http URL’s some are easy to miss. Chris had said don’t do the youtube shortlinks but I’ve done em all and it works still so I’m kinda hoping it hangs together for a minute.
In your post, don’t forget to tick “video” in format and select style 8 from the post templates, I use the full URL from youtube and enter it into the sidebar
If you are adding the video player block to the page you will have to fill in all of the fields and add a video to it for it to show correctly on the page, you don’t add the full URL though just the series of letters and numbers at the end part of the URL
If all of that fails you probably need to go to your hosting provider and ask them to add a php.ini file and switch on allow_url_fopen = on
After a whole day of trying to find out what was wrong I went back to the server people and asked them if the allow_url_fopen was set to on and he came back with this
“I placed some code in your public_html folders .htaccess file to make the php.ini file work”
Real helpful that…..
So it was in fact the server that was the problem but also the theme should shoulder part of the blame as it’s not configured for SSL and that isn’t made apparent when you buy the theme, I’d also like to add that while TagDiv support and Chris who I understand doesn’t work for TagDiv are very helpful none of the solutions to these basic problems are presented in a coherent way.
Searching several thousand questions on a forum isn’t the best bet because some of this stuff needs to really be done in an organised fashion. More documentation is probably needed and to be fair I will probably put something together to add to the forum just for people who are stuck with configuration and SSL issues but I’m no expert so could end up doing more harm than good?
Anyway, all is working so that at least one satisfied customer.
Let me know how you get on
Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Chris S, Alin, Lucian and anyone else who’s helped me to solve this problem over the last few days.
I’m going for a lie down now, I’ll pour my brain back in through my ear first in the morning 🙂
Now I’m going to have a disco \o/ \o/
I’ve made a load of changes, I’ll post the results of my turmoil tomorrow for anyone else who’s trying to run the theme on SSL
Hi,
Please give us wp-access so we can have a closer look at those errors and share your login details at contact@tagdiv.com
Seems that allow_url_fopen should be set on by default and some php functions need to have this on to retrieve data from remote locations so I don’t think this has something to do with https/SSL. Try to also test this with allow_url_fopen enabled if possible and see how it goes.
I’m not aware of the changes you’ve made to the td_video_support.php so please also include a copy of that file in your email message or use http://pastebin.com/ to send it’s content so we can know.
If you’ve tested this on each cases using A2 hosting then this could still be due to your host configurations.
If the only issues present now are the warning you get then you could try to disable them as php warnings and notifications are only shown if the debug mode is enabled to your wp-config file, this is set to disabled by default and they are meant for local testing and staging installs. You can disable it to get rid of those warning, you can find more info about this here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress
You can also use other plugins and continue with your development. The theme doesn’t have buddy press support at the moment but we will add it and it will be available in the next theme version.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Please let us know on any updates related to this.
Thanks
Hi Lucian,
Thank you for your reply.
I appreciate the offer of a refund but site as it stands represents many long hours of toil that I’ll never see a benefit from if I just give up. I try the refund trick all the time with my own customers as well, it’s a convenient way of not having to deal with the problem. It doesn’t do much for customer satisfaction though but lets not get into that negative stuff.
I like the theme and very much want to use it going forward as there are no other themes available as far as I know that have the same split sidebar configuration which I really like the look of, it just breaks the whole thing up nicely, so well done on that.
I have contacted the hosting provider and they have put the php.ini file together for me and I have added it to public_html as instructed, unfortunately this hasn’t solved the problem.
I get the following errors when I try to publish a post
Warning: get_headers() [function.get-headers]: https:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen=0 in /home/unplugti/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/includes/wp_booster/td_video_support.php on line 109

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/unplugti/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/includes/wp_booster/td_video_support.php:109) in /home/unplugti/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1178
Looking at the first error do you think they have incorrectly configured the php.ini file as it is showing “https:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen” do these files have to be configured differently for http and https?
I don’t know a lot about these things so I would appreciate your input and will get it changed if needs be.
The other errors seem to be something to do with the td_video_support.php file that we altered earlier, do you have any thoughts on why these errors may be occurring and what we might be able to do to alleviate the problem?
The problems I’m seeing are in the front and back end of wordpress, the posts are getting stuck when I try to publish them and are returning the above errors, I have also had the site fail when trying to delete the same post.
I have submitted the post again and although it returns the error and leaves me stuck on that page, if I open the site in a new window the post has actually been generated and the large full width video image is now shown in post (it wasn’t showing before), however if you then navigate to the home page the image still isn’t appearing in the blocks, it just shows the title for the post and the blank grey background. If I then go back to the media library in the back end of wordpress, it has once again generated 3 huge images inside the media library.
Have a think and get back to me, if we can’t work it out between us then I’ll send over the login details for you to have a look
Just to add, I am using different caching plugin on this site which seems to work better with the theme but I know this isn’t the problem, I have also set up 3 other test sites all with the exact same setting/plugins etc as you advise and all of my sites are throwing up this same problem. All of the sites are hosted with A2 hosting, all of these hosting accounts are brand new, all have dedicated ip and a site wide SSL and all are brand new clean servers with brand new clean wordpress installs.
I’m stumped and don’t know what to do next as video will be a large part of the new, original content that I had planned to create for the site, at the moment I’ve just put a bit of filler content on there to see how it all plays together and to figure out the design.
I was thinking of adding buddypress and a few other plugins but at present I’m not confident that these wont break the site so I’m holding back on that for now
Best wishes

Hi,
Thanks Chris!
@unplug.tips
We’re sorry for the delay and for all the trouble you’ve experienced using the theme. I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’ve managed solve your issue.
Regarding the https/SSL issues please note that we will include them in the next version of the theme so you don’t need to worry about this and we’re sorry for this as we had it on our todo list but we’ve somehow missed it.
Regarding images please consider that the theme creates thumbs for all images you upload, so if you need to save your host resources then you can consider which thumbs/block you will use then turn the thumbs you don’t need off from theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/kVkTcpkcesU ..and use a plugin like Force Regenerate thumbs: https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/ ..which will also remove the unnecessary thumbs.
@Kvr28 Usually Facebook doesn’t update your post new info right away so it would be best ti give it some time or use the debugger tool to fetch the new information: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Thanks
Note the support hours from TagDiv, top right this page.
They are closed weekends.
I don’t work here, just helping out (I am actually migrating a site from 1.4 to 1.6 “right now” — and also migrating another site from Woo Canvas to 1.6 at same time). 🙂
Note that “most” stuff gets written to the rendered page as https via their if/then on a lot of code. It’s just a few stragglers. I only ran into it working on using 1.4-1.6 for our business site which is all https, but we only use WP for couple of things like a blog, and the new ecom system WooCommerce (moving from CubeCart 5). So, that was acid test for couple of things.
Since “most” people don’t run in https always on, many have not run into it. You and I are in the minority around these parts 🙂
AND, obviously, if you run Chrome browser, it will tell you if something isn’t loading over https in the error console. (Highly recommended!) — so, go to a page on your site, and if something isn’t https — it will tell you WHAT …. In my case one of the fonts for the admin panel wasn’t loading via https even though the codebase was there to do //google, it seemed to need “explicit” https://google to work right.
So, probably if you are doing what I call the “acid test” for your site in https, keep a note of those things, and send an email to Radu with all the “https/SSL” issues you have run into which need explicit https calls from external or internal elements. He *will* fix that in next update.
So, you and I are kind of the beta testers on this.
Are there any other http to https:// changes I need to make to get the theme to run smoothly with SSL?
I noticed in
/includes/modules/td_module_single.php
some of the social buttons are in http should I go and change these to https??????
May this be the answer to the problem I am seeing with the facebook sharing? The facebook button is http but some others are https://
Will this be included in future updates or will I have to change these files every time we update? The issue was pointed out a couple of months ago.
I appreciate we are probably in the minority using site wide SSL but this is only going to get more common as people follow Googles lead
I love the theme and would greatly appreciate your feedback
For anyone else out there who is using an SSL certificate, you will have to change this

This screencast is from a question I asked on here 2 months ago, I got the correct answer in a way but you need to change all of the URLs in the code not just the 3 that are indicated in the screen grab, there quite a few of them that need to be changed and there are 3 at the bottom of the screen which are easy to miss.
Hi,
I’ve just updated to the latest version of the theme but the situation is still the same on my test site.
I can’t see a featured image on the homepage in any of the blocks and I have no video in post. I have tried to add the URL with the HTTPS and without it with 3 different vimeo videos but still nothing.
I have also tried to embed a youtube video and that is the same, blank! Nothing.
I have deactivated all of the plugins and cleared all of the caches and tried again but no joy, I have viewed the site on my iphone, ipad and laptop and the results are the same.
I’ve no idea what the 109 thing is or why it would be trying to do something other than it is supposed to do in wordpress, I wouldn’t want to or know how to mess with that stuff?
I use site wide SSL on all my sites, not sure if this could cause problems?
I’ll update my main site to the new version of the theme and see what happens with that
Hi,
Please add also this css: http://screencast.com/t/VGyNAUgJ
.iosSlider .slide-meta-author{
background-color: transparent;
}
Thanks!
Hi,
Please use this css to hide the date on slider: http://screencast.com/t/UZkrsXDNG
.iosSlider .slide-meta .entry-date{
display: none;
}
If you want to hide it only on homepage please add also .home: http://screencast.com/t/ExhsxS5d
Thanks!
