Hello,

I run into a big problem. When I insert this photo, it was shown vertically. However, after it’s populated and updated, then the photo went horizontally.

Can you please point out what went wrong? There is some other article didn’t have this issue. I checked many times, not sure what happened.

This is wrong: http://jazko.com/featured/joel-robuchon-interview/

This is right: http://jazko.com/food/fine-dining/vrijmoed-belgium/

Please help.

Hi,

The tagDiv composer does not yet have a similar button element as Visual composer. It might be available in a future update however. Sorry for this inconvenience.
If you should consider this a solution, you could use a text element and create the button that way and add a link to it

Thanks

It did not work that way for me, my friend. I had to fresh install the latest theme and then the HOME PAGE got deleted.
Due to this, I had to again start afresh with a demo installer with all its settings, and content. And now I am deleting unnecessary things and updating the old ones.
This is not the first time I faced this issue but I wanted to update the theme so took the hard way.

I hope this won’t repeat in future.

Thanks for your advice.

Please keep in mind that in near time we will release a new update when you have an option in that widget to add the unique key for your account.

The problem started to happen when I installed the latest update to Newspaper 8. The header is not appearing on the homepage on both the desktop and mobile versions of the site. I have tested it on other computers and phones and it doesn’t appear to be a cache issue. Can you help please.

Always good to read changelog prior to install any major theme update.

I find it easier to edit the main files and keep track of changes; then reapply to new theme update if needed; less messy than working with child theme which might ALSO need to be updated with major theme update — which defeats purpose, in my mind anyway.

Recently updated the theme: When I try to update settings of theme panel, it loads perpetually. Changes will not be made. Any idea what causes this?

Why? You guys are using WP Review plugin, so all that work is already done. And all I need now should be just a simple fix to change it. But if you actually do it in every module itself not in one place, then yeah I understand that it would be difficult to replace it after every update. At the moment I have API function to call out, all I needed to know where is exactly that function are what you are calling out at the moment in theme so I can replace it with other.

if ( class_exists( 'Lets_Review_API' ) ) {
$my_score_box = Lets_Review_API::lets_review_get_score_box( $post->id );
echo $my_score_box;
}

Is Visual Composer no longer bundled with Newspaper 8 now that you guys have built TD Composer? I downloaded the latest version of the theme and in Newspaper -> Includes -> Plugins there is only two plugins. td-composer & td-social-composer. I went to use TD Composer a while back and just didn’t care for it. I would like to continue to use Visual Composer. Constantly being told there is an update is annoying though.

This is wrong, TagDiv shouldn’t have to make this a required plugin when we can simply use other plugins like Visual Composer which works fine. How is it required? The theme is fine without it. Sorry, don’t mean to be a pain but I’m surprised about this. Will I have to deactivate and uninstall everytime I update?

Hello 🙂
For customizing I need to edit index.php and header,footer.. etc php files. (copied to ftp child-theme folder)
Actually at my last work with bootstrap theme I had to make child theme and have very complex and uncomfortable situations..
I don’t know whether to work without child-theme or not.
If it has no problem then I’m willing to use and edit original theme files freely.
Is there any problem about child-theme(updates, etc..)?

Hi,

Yes that is normal. The tagDiv composer will automatically be activated when the theme is installed or updated. This is mentioned here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
This happens because the composer is a required plugin, so it should be active.

Thanks

Hi,

The modules will only display category tags, taxonomies cannot be displayed on modules. There might be changes to the way the theme handles custom post types in future theme updates, but I cannot say for sure when this will happen.

Thanks

Thanks for the Input Edward. I’ll check this out. But these are actually cosmetic edits. Before this theme update, I had a template from tagdiv that I uploaded on my root directory that made me add a page layout like this. Isn’t this possible in Newspaper 8?

Hi,

I just updated the Newspaper theme and it automatically installed the TagDiv Composer plugin! Is this normal? I deleted the theme then uploaded the new theme using the zip newspaper file and then TD Composer appeared activated in my plugins page and had to uninstall it. How can this happen? I should be able to choose which tagdiv plugins I would like to use.

Hi!

I don’t know why, but all of a sudden the clicktag on the background wallpaper is only about 100px high it does not cover the whole wallpaper. Can you check it out? I had numerous wallpapers and everything was working fine until now. Theme and WP is updated to the latest version.

Here is the link to the site where the problem is: http://bit.ly/2yKCiB8

Hi,

The usual frequency of the theme updates is a couple of months, only by some exception it would be longer (pending big update). You can see this information in the theme changelog, further down this page
https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
In the theme updates there will always be provided the latest bundled plugin versions. There might be situations where a plugin is updated right after the theme update, then it will be included in the next theme update.

Thanks

Hi,

That would have to be done by creating as mentioned, copies of the theme taxonomy.php file found in the main theme folder. Use your available taxonomies names when creating the copy in the child theme. An example
https://www.screencast.com/t/8wAwEJpXm
https://www.screencast.com/t/2mTSbkfE
Now you can customize this created copy, it will be used to display the taxonomy page. Taxonomy pages cannot be customized like default category pages, in the theme panel. There could be more support for custom post types added in future theme updates, but I cannot say for sure.

Thanks

Hi,

The only modified files from theme versions 8.1->8.11 are the ones mentioned, They were modified for security reasons. The other changes were Visual composer and Revolution slider updated plugins to the latest version.

Thanks

Hi,

@kurmeh
Updating the theme should not cause any problems. All the steps required for different methods are described in the guide. The auto update method is not fully reliable unfortunately, sometimes it can fail to update the theme. Try the other methods instead.
As mentioned updating by FTP is the most recommended. Follow the steps as presented, and there will be no problem.
If there is a problem after the update, please provide details about it and a link to your website if needed and we will help you.

Thanks

Hi,

If it happened after the update, please go to your plugins section and deactivate the tagDiv composer plugin. This composer is automatically activated when the theme is installed or updated. It can cause similar issues for pages or posts that contain Visual composer elements.
After deactivating it everything should display like before.

Thanks

I received a notification of an update to Newspaper 8 with a link to download the update. There is no update, only the template files and license in my Account.

Can you please provide instructions for the update and where I can find it? Does it erase all of my settings, etc?

Thanks

Probably they forgot to update the screen photo in every download version 😉

Did you do normal practice of clearing transients after update, e.g., with WP Optimize, and resaving permalinks to clear WP micro caching; clear any caching / CDN buckets, and clear browser cache before re-logging in ?

Just food for thought. Also useful to review changelog and posts about changes, as you likely could have just edited the one ajax file to modify the XSS issue and be done with it for the day.

( I don’t work here. But feel your pain ! )
