HI

The theme is carefully tested and there are no malicious codes or files in its patch. Also envato check each new version before approval. Try to download a fresh copy from themeforest, deactivate all plugins, except Visual Composer, then try to update the theme again following our documentation. We recommend to make the update via FTP as it’s the best way of doing a clean update: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi

The code won’t work just by pasting that function in custom js filed from theme panel. You need top update the value directly in js file as that is a method used for tdTrendingNow object and can be changed only inside the object.

Thanks!

Hello Ardhi,

The only solution in this regard was been published on Github as you can saw above. Until to next plugin update, try to implement this solution because it should work.

Thanks for the message!

Hi

Please note that td-composer plugin is still in beta version and is possible to appear some issues with its functionality. The plugin is mostly tested with Newspaper theme but it should also work with Newsmag. Try to use Visual Composer plugin which is included in theme’s patch and check how it goes. https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Let us know how it goes and if the problem persist please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login credentials and we will inspect this issue as soon as possible, also include a link to this topic.

Thanks!

Hi,
You can remove the lines 17 & 18 from header.php

And the same for all feature updates

Hi guys,
Right now, on theme panel we have the option to disable the featured image, but is aplicated to all devices.
As we now have the option to use retina images, for mobile will be heavy.

So my Q is:
¿You can help us with an condition to hide the featured images for mobile devices (i’m not ask about CSS hide)?

Thank you!
I guess that you have already thought about adding as a default option into a feature update

Hi guys!

I upgraded to the NP 7.4 and the latest version of VC yesterday but now I have 2 problems.

Before updated I had my site like the right image, but now I have it like the left. And I can’t change the color of the videobox’s sides/margin/border…whatever. I have no idea what I did to get the previous look 🙁

http://i67.tinypic.com/6rkpwj.jpg

And I think this is a stupid problem… but I have twice the register/login option in the top menu. The second in capital letters doesn’t work and I want to delete it. Is it possible?

Thank you so much. Love NP7!

As always, great work!

Hi, im having some trouble after the last update. Before update all my images on post were 700px wide, exactly the size of the “post box”. As you can see on the link, now all images has gone to 640x360px (video inserted as you can see is still 700px). I need the images cover all the wide of the post box (700px) as before so it looks better in the same wide of the video and text. How can i back to my previws 700px?

Thanks!

Hi

Thanks for your suggestion, I’ve added it o our todo list and developers will consider it for future updates. However I can’t promise anything regarding a possible implementation as this task involve changes in theme’s layout and for the moment we don’t plan to make any changes there.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please provide more details about the theme version that you use. If you use a recent version then should be no issues with the update. Just please make sure that you make a full backup of you current install(wordpress and database) – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then update the theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
After the update you can update also the Visual Composer plugin to the latest version provided with the theme package 4.12.1 – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The theme update should not affect the theme or wordpress settings, only if you have custom modifications to the theme files you will need to re-add them.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please try to reinstall the theme via ftp and check again if the issue persist – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
I have checked your site and you have a blank page there – http://screencast.com/t/kpobQHSZIJyo the theme even is not getting loaded, so I suspect it is a installation or files problem and that’s why I suggest to re-install it and see how it goes.
Let us know!

Thanks!

Hi

@goforward
ajax post view counter update page views when is enabled and a cache plugin is used. You can deactivate it from theme panel > post settings but the theme won’t count post’s views if you’re using cache: http://screencast.com/t/NdEKOddFp

Thanks!

Hi

I am not sure why the link is not working anymore but it could be an issue with your the custom css used. Try to update the theme at V 3.2 which is available on themeforest, remove the custom css, clear all caches then test the site again.

Thanks!

Hi there,

We had the below conversation with Bogdan B at themeforest.net:

Hi guys,

I have rather many categories added in my “main” menu. I have chosen these items to be in white color with a blue background. The issue is that when I reduce the size of the web browser screen (on my computer), I notice that the menu items jump down one row. However, the row that it jumps down to is in white (since the background of my website is white) so you can’t even see the last items of the menu anymore, they just get hidden based on the color. It just results in an extra white row. I have to reduce the screen size significantly more for it to start using the “mobile menu” instead.

This creates problems for everyone using those screen sizes in the middle, between full size and “mobile size”, since they can’t see the items of the menu. How do I fix this? One idea, which many themes do, is that the background color of the menu also gets one more row when the menu items get one more row (which in this case would mean that the blue color also gets one more row when the white menu items get it). Is this possible, or do you have any other fix for this issue?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I’m not sure how you changed the header color. If you change it from the theme panel as recommended, and not with custom css, then it will show properly even if your content falls on 2 rows: http://screencast.com/t/vY1ELC9a Here is the back-end setting required for this: http://screencast.com/t/jjDCCU4ab Please use the theme panel settings to change theme colors. If you have any further questions, please open a nw topic on our official support forum at https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/

Thank you! Bogdan B

Thanks Bogdan.

I did change the color in the theme panel settings, but I am still getting this issue.

Could it be that I am using version Version: 4.6.1? I would really not like to update, because I did try to update a while ago but so many things had changed and I spent a whole day trying to get things back to the same look and function as I had with the older version, and in the end I down-graded again to the older version since I didn’t get things the way I wanted them to be. Therefore, can I solve this issue with 4.6.1? From what I can understand, it should be just a small code-change for the menu-strip to expand in accordance with the menu.

Thank you.

Hello,

Please open a new topic on our support forum and provide a link to your site so we can take a look at it and maybe provide the proper code for the menu. We suggest updating the theme though eventually as more and more things will start to break as you update everything around the theme, but not the theme. Newspaper version 4 is almost 2 years old. We cannot assure it’s compatibility with the latest versions of wordpress or plugins. Eventually you will have to take this step and update the theme.

Thank you! Bogdan B

Would you be able to help me and provide the proper code for the menu? I would very much appreciate it. The website is homereviewed.com.

Thank you.

Hello,

Unfortunately the mobile theme is still in version 1 and there are not too many options for customization added to it. Fonts can be changed with css for mobile but image sizes cannot be changed even in the main theme. Image sizes are fixed in our theme and each element has it’s own predefined thumb.

The author will need a bit of a css fix as the css got changed a bit in the new update but the author name was not updated for it. So until the next theme version please use this CSS code in the mobile theme’s custom code box:

.td-post-author-name div { display:inline; }

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you!

” A possible solution would be to add support for Visual Composer in mobile theme but for the moment we don’t plan to add this feature as will defeat theme’s purpose”

70% of the internet is on mobile now. Even google is almost ready to go “Mobile first” for their ranking algorithm and everything. So, I can’t ignore mobile speed and optimization but at the same time, just because of speed, we are killing almost all other features that Newspaper has to offer. It’s so ironic that the whole documentation for Newspaper mobile theme can be written on just one full-length page but it’s been used 70-80% of the time ( in terms of traffic). Hence , we are doing everything for 20-30% traffic but not for the major portion 🙁

I also feel that just because now you have created a separate plugin for the mobile theme, psychologically , you might be putting less effort in making further mobile optimization in your parent theme. Since you might be thinking that you have already achieved 300-400% more optimization on mobile theme so, if someone needs speed, you have a ‘ ready answer’ to ask them to use “Mobile theme” . but that time, neither user, nor you think that in that case, the whole awesome “Newspaper” theme will become the simplest blog theme which has nothing to offer other than speed in terms functionality;

So, Please give enough time to mobile theme feature updates and then you can give an option to “enable and disable” visual composer for mobile theme.

In fact, for the main theme too, we should have the option to disable or enable “loading of extra codes” page. post or categories basis to optimize it fully. We are using hard-coded shortcodes and smart list options in our various posts, so, if we even think to change the theme in future, it is going to break the site. So, it’s highly unlikely that we are ever going to change the theme.

Therefore we have high hopes from TagDiv.

Thank you.

You should also tr to update your version of the plugin if you still want to use it. You can use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thank you!

Well the latest update is included in the latest update of the theme. if you want to update the plugin you must download the theme package from envato and install the visual composer plugin from there: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/

Thank you!

Hi,

The child theme is a bit complicated to understand at first. It is basically a re-write of the main theme.
Not all of the files in our theme will work from the child theme though .The main functions.php file requires custom implementation to be able to re-write the main file and all of the WP_Booster folder will not work as well from the child theme. If you move the post template files to the child, the theme will use those files and not the ones from the main theme. You have to use this guide to create the child theme properly: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ It’s basically a mirror image of the main theme.
However there is one important thing to know about a child theme. It is not update proof. This is a common mistake users make and update their themes and do not update the child theme causing lots of issues. The child theme serves the file you add to it. if that file is modified in a future update and you serve the old modified version of the file from the child theme, there could be consequences.
\So when using a child theme you have to keep a look-out if the files you added to the child theme get updated. If they do, you need to re-create your child theme with the current theme files and re-apply your modification. A child theme helps you skip a few updates as not all files get modified on each update but it is not update proof.

I hope this is clear enough…

Thanks.

Hi

Please make sure that you updated the theme according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ , also try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge the cdn files if you’re using then test the site again.

Let us know ho it goes.
Thanks!

Bogdan B.

Unfortunately there is no simple way of customizing the theme files. If the setting you want cannot be done through the theme settings, then it probably means it will have to be re-applied on every update (almost). Depending on the modification a child theme can spare you a few updates worth but even a child theme is not update proof as if the file you modified also gets updated, you still have to replace it in the child theme and apply your customization again. And not all files will work from the child theme also.

Thank you!
