I have installed a second install of Newspaper theme. I guess I begun in the wrong end as I just duplicated my first site thinking I’d fix the licence after configuration. Now I have purchased a second licence, removed the old from “/wp-content/themes/Newspaper” and installed new theme from Zip with second licence. But I’m still unable to use theme panel.
How can I update licence info to get the theme working again without loosing the config/settings from the site I duplicated at first?
Hello, since we downloaded the last theme update, we see that there is now a sorting drop down menu on each of our category pages (like this) http://inspirelle.com/category/inspire/ which we didn’t have before. I would be fine with this, except that we chose not to use the 7 day most popular sorting option because your documentation says that enabling this carries a slight penalty. What does that exactly mean? And if it carries such a penalty, which are we required to have this on the drop down menu?
I also found that the Most popular filter doesn’t work well for us. I have tried to use this filter option in other blocks on our website, but the most read articles didn’t necessarily show up in the sort.
AMP works with TagDiv themes “right now” — and has passed validation since November during beta.
So, there is no “AMP ready” version of the theme — it’s already AMP-ready. Much like the theme won’t build in its own ecommerce system to replace WooCommerce, etc., it makes no sense to make custom version of theme for AMP, since AMP is designed to load fonts and dependencies off the cloud, and only local content and images from your site. And there is provision for AdSense, and there is provision for CPTs, and there is provision for customizing the template. So, that is available NOW, and no reason to end up with 20 theme updates in the coming year just for AMP, Apple Publisher format, or Facebook Articles — all of this SHOULD be done with actively updated and supported plugins and left agnostic (not part of) the theme.
Many of our sites have been indexed the past month and the only issues are strictly content related, such as bad inline CSS from WordPress like stupidly using the center align tag on a paragraph several places.
I have a thread about this here, which you might find useful. The official AMP plugin is the only way to fly as its theme agnostic, and its being actively developed for WP VIP clients like TIME magazine, etc.

When a new article is published, it is not displayed in homepage.
The following settings are set:
Mobile device support. (External plugin or theme required. See the FAQ for further details.)
Clear all cache files when a post or page is published or updated.
Only refresh current page when comments made.
List the newest cached pages on this page.
Are we missing something?

I am a bit confusing about your request. Please keep in mind that the Big Grid do not exist in 1.3 version of Newspaper but only the Slider for the category page. You cannot implement something that does not exist, sorry! If you want to display more levels in our theme and you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to do this for you because we cannot provide customization services at the moment, sorry!
However, if you want to have the latest features in our theme, please try to update the theme to the latest version of the theme (v.6.7) but please notice that all your customizations will be lost and you will have to reconfigure all your website from scratch, because all thew code was changed.

The issues you encounter are because of the child theme. The child theme is not update proof especially in a big update such as this. ALL the code was changed from version 4 to version 6. The child theme needs to be updated as well. All the customization done in the child theme or the main theme for that matter will no longer work anymore as newspaper 6 is almost like a different theme from newspaper 4. I can confirm that it is working. All the options were tested properly and we have found no issues with the new update. I just tested the background ad again and it works as expected. Please disable all your plugins except for visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. You most likely have a plugin conflict that interferes with the background ad.

Put another way, if you change link structure then the old should redirect to new, and the new version should reflect the updated canonical link. WP should NOT be serving two different valid URLs with two of the same canonical tags unless you really messed it up.
Smart Lists will not respect changes made to the caption once it has been inserted into a post. Here are the steps to reproduce:
1) Create a new post.
2) Add a header tag.
3) Insert a media (Enter a caption).
4) Add some description text under the photo.
5) In the WordPress post, hover over the image and use the edit feature.
6) Change the caption.
7) Choose a smart list.
8) Publish.
The smart list will display the caption in step #3 instead of the updated caption in step #6 due to using the attachment metadata rather than the media shortcode that WordPress prioritizes in a post.
This is especially troublesome when translating into multiple languages. Currently, whenever a translation is made, all media has to be deleted and reuploaded ensuring the caption is entered before it is inserted into the post. Typically when you translated, you only have to edit the caption by using the method in step #5.
This is a pretty high priority for us as my client wants to use the smart list feature. Thoughts on how to proceed?

We recommend adding the css in theme panel > custom css field because it’s a easier way to do it then in style.css file and also the code will remain there when the theme it’s updated.

I installed the plugin that is in the download files from Envato Market and it’s version is that I have installed. My version is 4.6.93 and its the plugin from last update of the theme 6.7 which I installed manually after updating the theme. I do not have newer version in the package folder plugins.

this might be a bit out of the range of the normal theme support – but since I’ve been scanning the net for all sorts of solutions (and there are no plugins available) I’m hoping you guys can help me here:
I’ve moved a huge site for a client from joomla to wordpress -> into newspaper. so far so cool.
but now there’s thousands of posts which have their excerpt still in an (ex-joomla/zoo-) custom field called teaser-text which I would LOVE to copy into the theme excerpt (to have it beautifully displayed and controlled by the theme) especially since the clients team will be using the newspaper-excerpt to write their teasers (of course)
since I’m not a coder I would be hyper thankful if one of you guys could provide me with a few lines of code that I could add to my functions.php to let it run through all the posts and update each of their excerpts with the text that is yet stored as teaser-text. many – many ! thanks in advance!

If you plan to modify the theme files in order to add content to the shrotcodes tab, this will not be update proof at all as any change in the theme files will result in the loss of the customization (even if a child theme is used) so the best option would be through a plugin. You can create your own plugin and tie it to the editor by following a few online resources:
