Had the same Issues with the Social Counter after Update. The Counter has shown Zero.
I reopend the Social Counter and deleted the Secret Token and saved the Module. Then I opened again the the Social Counter Module again and clicked the Secret Token and saved again.
This brought back my Facebook Fans.

You could try
a) re-save permalinks to clear permalink transient settings
b) clear any caching plugin, reset/refresh any CDN setting
c) in theme panel, resave the choice for default category template(s)

Sometimes the simplest things work — might not in your case, but this often fixes bizarro gremlins after WP update!

Was about to test disabling my plugins but looks like someone had tried and problem still exists. Hope there is an update some time soon

Heh …. well, the short version would be … just install the main theme, don’t use child theme at all; don’t even upload it. (I don’t use child themes on ANY of our sites or client sites.) So, this way you have one set of things to optimize, manually minify, one set of functions, css, etc.

Just keep track of snippets with a map of which files/customizations you do. SO, when there is theme update you can paste in your functions.php changes into new file, for example; or if you mod the main style.css – make not of what you changed (e.g., search/replace default fonts). Use a good text editor with line numbering — so, you keep track of “I edited the hook at line 55 in file /theme/includes/td-whattheheck.php” etc.

Faster – no CSS redirect from child to parent; no mix of files, smaller to do backup of your site via FTP, blah blah blah.

So – that was short version. Long version would contain a lot of other commentary you don’t need to hear from me on this topic 😉

Learned my lesson 🙂 Next time around, I’ll wait before updating unless the update is security related. Hoping that a fix for the theme will be released real soon.

It seems like it is an issue with WordPress 4.4 and this theme. I am thinking they need to make an update to the category loop. It may be a quick fix

Could be a bug in WP.

I expect we’ll hear something from TagDiv soon!

Their FB page states they did test their main site with the new update, but … your milage may vary, of course.

Always best to wait a few days on WP updates unless it’s a “critical security patch” to ensure all themes and plugins will continue to work.

TagDiv tested themes with 4.4 and didn’t see any initial issues, according to their FB page.

But, obviously in “real world” — feedback helps them know about any real problems to get a fix out if it’s theme related vs WP related.

My categories pagination stopped working. I checked Newsmag and Newspaper forums and noticed the posts from many others who are having the same and other issues after wordpress 4.4 update. Had I known that this would happen… I would have been careful not to update right away. BTW, I am using Newsmag theme.

Hey all, just me again. Ok..back to the child theme thing. What files exactly would I place in the child theme folder and where? I want to be sure I do this right. I created the page-full-blank.php file and copied the text code linked above into it, then uploaded that completed file into the Child Theme folder. But what should I do for the JS file you mentioned above?

Also how would I place the codes for hiding ads that goes into the Tag-Booster file (as mentioned in this thread) into a Child Theme so that when the main theme gets updated I don’t have to always manually re-add the codes?

Missing update its because you set not show date in your post. Just set ON show Date.

I’ve been working with that layout for some time (without having a dividing line on my post editor).
I cannot change to a single column (as far as I know considering my layout)
But, suddenly a dividing line appeared.

Honestly I don’t have a single clue how to solve this problem.
What do I know is the moment the line starts appearing is when my firefox asking for java update (not sure it it’s related)

At the moment, I’m fine and getting used to it.
Just need more time to write and edit new post
because the body to write text having different wide compared to website
(words per line on editor is lower than website)

I agree with @paulberrow I’m also on Newspaper 4. For the moment, it works for me with the security Update of VC and I only had to fix one or two small things. But the problem is, that this will not work forever and after this winter (where we have the most traffic) we will have to update to version 6 with lots of work for my programmer and costs for me.

So my question is: How can I be sure, that you don’t change to a completely new version 7 next summer and all the work we probably will have done in spring is for nothing?
