We would love a fix for this too!
Wouldn’t a protocol-relative url work well here (e.g. //ajax.googleapis.com/…)?
Thanks Emil. I will look into it. One more very serious issue we are noticing is very aggressive caching with the theme…the home page doesn’t get updates or shows newly posted stories unless we manually restart varnish….we are on Digital Ocean VPS, we tried both WP Super Cache as well as W3 Total cache and also read your instructions for boosting speed, but no use. Can you suggest what’s going wrong?
Hi,
we are still searching for a solution to this problem. Until we make a better implementation you can disable w3 total cache if you want accurate 7 days sorting. Or make the caching period shorter.
Sorry for this inconvenience,
Radu O.
This custom CSS does the trick (and is update proof).
.sf-menu li a {padding-left: 0px !important;}
I put mine at 9 px and looks good!
Hope this works for you as well Emma!
Hi!
As we’re running a tv-channel, all our images are HD (1.280 x 720p) and we see a lot of cropping going on in the different blocks.
Is it possible for us to change something so that the thumbnails of the blocks are not cropped, but resized ? If so, can we even do it without this change breaking every time you release an update for the template?
I’m still using the workaround above, for now… but in the update info it said that something had indeed been changed in the views counter. Not sure what, though…
Hi,
I just updated the theme to the latest version. I use the view counter with caching and the view counters work, but the polpular 7 days post sorting still doesn’t work. I’ve enabled it for my sidebare block 2 but it still shows old posts that haven’t been viewed in ages, but the they still appear… these are the custom fields of the post that appears as most viewed:
How do I fix this and make my sidebar really show the most viewed post from the last 7 days? I’m trying to get this to work for ages now 🙁
Please can you help me? I still have the problem when sharing on Facebook.
See img: http://www.amarketingblog.it/error.jpg
I’ve updated the template
I have tried to disable various plugins
I have tried to edit articles
I have emptied the cache
But nothing, keeps giving me this error … the site is http://www.amarketingblog.it what’s wrong?
The error comes up only occasionally and not with all the articles, it is a strange thing!
I have these plugins: WP Super Cache, Facebook, WordPress SEO
Thanks!
Just updated the theme to the latest version, but the problem still persist! Thought they would fix this problem in the latest update but appearently they didn’t. Or is it just me? Can anyone else confirm that this workaround is still needed?
Hi,
The cache should automatically clear when you modify a post. If for some reason this operation is not done errors like the one you encounter may appear. Also this may happen if you update the theme, because the cache keeps the old data for the pages and posts. The solution is to clear the cache after you make modifications like these.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
This is on our list, thanks for your notification, it will be fixed on our future updates.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
We know about the issue, it’s on our list, i can’t give an eta but we’ll fix this in our future updates. Sorry for this.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
Those warnings are built in the plugin by it’s developer, we already removed some of them but it seems we missed one, we’ll try to remove it in our next update. Sorry for this.
Thank you, Emil G.
Ever since I updated to Newspaper v3.8.4 I’ve had a notification on post and pages in my dashboard that says: “Hola! Please activate your copy of Visual Composer to receive automatic updates.”
Thought maybe I updated it incorrectly. So I deactivated the plugin, deleted it. Then I switched from my child theme to the main Newspaper theme, and reinstalled the js_composer.zip plugin.
But I’m still getting the not activated notification on posts and pages. Is there anything I can do about this?
Same here. Can’t get mobile menu to work since update.
Hey! I don’t want a refund I want you to fix this issue in next update. Please 🙁
Hi Emil,
Lowering the font size is no option for me, that option does no good to the layout and looks of the website.
So I will go for option number 2, completely removing the search icon spot.
I presume this option is not update proof? I have to edit the PHP files EVERY time after an update?
If so, PLEASE implement the search icon spot ON/OF switch in the theme admin panel in a future update of the theme. Many people will thank you guys for this I am sure.
Thanks
Hi,
The latest version of visual composer will be included in the theme next update.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
The best way is to manually update your theme and to do that follow this guide –> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/, also check this guide –> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-v-3-7/. It’s a good idea to backup your database and the entire wordpress directory.
Thank you, Emil G.
Tried clearing the cache and nothing. I just double checked the file and the autoplay code is still there so im assuming that the file was updated correctly?
I think you could add a widget for posts, then use one of the modules for that sidebar for posts. Same idea as what I did for homepage sidebar, just doing it on the posts. Actually, I do something like this for “editor’s picks” on the sidebar for posts to highlight old content, from tag “editors picks” — this way I feature some interviews from past couple of years which are standout content, but not remotely current. Try it … nothing will blow up 🙂
Oh okay, thanks.
If i wanted it to appear only on the posts itself, is that an easy modification?
Do we have to go through this every time this “WPBakery Visual Composer” have a update now today it’s saying to update again to a new “version 4.2.2” is there any way to stop this because no one can update this plugin but the owners,it’s a big PAIN keep saying a update and we can’t even update it our self…
Hi Radu,
Wow! That was easy, and update proof 🙂
Now how do I make my last Main Menu entry use this free space?
Just take a look on my website (www.techplanet.nl) and you will see what I mean. The last entry called Forum should fit on the place where the magnifying glass used to be.
Can this also be solved using custom CSS, and therefore be update proof?
Thanks
