Hi,

Unfortunately we can not offer support for WPML, you can look for documentation on their site http://wpml.org/documentation/
An alternative would be to use qTranslate, here you have some tips on how to use it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/translate-your-site-in-multiple-language-with-qtranslate-plugin/
Also we will remove the WMPL compatibility statement from theme’s presentation page, we will put it back when the theme will be fully compatible with WPML plugin. For now unfortunately we do not have time to work on this project but we have it on our list and we will try to remediate this as soon as possible.
If you are unhappy with our theme we can offer you a refund.
Sorry about this.

Thanks for your message!

Im in the same situation here.
I didn’t know about qTranslate before purchasing WPML for 199$! since I saw on themeforest

Compatible With
WPML, BuddyPress 1.9.x, WooCommerce 2.0.x, bbPress 2.5.x, Bootstrap 2.3.x

Only to find out now, that it is compatible but not supported.
I’m having similar issues as @virtualida with the menu selection of the different languages.
Where are we to put the Language selector? Can we get some assistance or a how to on this matter?

I am not clear on the feature since there is an option to set use / do not use AJAX

– is it possible to have pagination in blocks without ajax ??
(hope there is since in WPML it mixes posts between languages and since you don’t support WPML I’d rather have the good old pagination option in my homepage)

if so – how ?

Thanks for answering Radu.

Since your theme is listed as compatible with WPML (which stands for wordpress multilanguage and is a very specific plugin that is NOT qtranslate) – I suppose you can understand why my expectations where different…

For a people who paid for WPML and already use it – moving to qtranslate is no simple matter since WMPL / qtranslate encode posts and stuff very different and migration is a b!tch 🙂

For now, I think I found a few workarounds – BUT I noticed in some cased your theme does separate options per language (for example in the top menu selection and in the categories section) – so that means you know how to do it, you are simply not following through in the same standard and I think that if did – your customers would get much more value from the theme…

I am trying to work with what you have at the moment – hope i don’t hit a brick wall and have to find a theme that did a better job in the multilingual aspect because I really like what I see so far.

hi,
the theme panel was not made for multilanguage, but take a look here :
https://forum.tagdiv.com/translate-your-site-in-multiple-language-with-qtranslate-plugin/
maybe it helps.

Thanks for you message.

Since no new info posted here are some of my findings so far which I need your input on ASAP:

* Similar issue on WPML forum – http://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-can-i-translate-theme-options-content/
* From the response – this may be the missing link http://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/

(I did not see you include wpml-config.xml)

I am not sure why you listed the site as WPML compatible, but what I need is separate option panel per language to set:

* different header (image logo & text per panguage)
* different footer
* different template settings – to account for RTL / LTR on non category pages
* different translations – since it’s DIFFERENT LANGUAGES obviously…
* different Custom CSS

(Of course you can do a complete compatibility – but the above is a must!)

Hi!
I am just starting to implement Newspaper on my site and I am a bit confused, hope you can help me out here 🙂

I am setting up a multi-language blog and I need to have separate theme options (individual theme panel settings) per language.

I am using WPML (all my settings and posts are already based on that so I cannot move to qtranslate (I noticed you may have a bit more experience there) but on themeforest it says Newspaper is WPML compatible and I am hoping that’s true…

So, I am not sure if it’s something in my settings or something missing in the theme code but when I make a change setting in one language – it’s happening to all which is not what I need to happen.

(A previous theme I used from themeforest was doing that individual theme panel per language thing perfectly and from what I gather this is part of the WPML compatibility factors).

I noticed in Newspaper theme directory you have a sub called “translation” and I think WPML expects to find “languages” as well as a few other differences in file names and maybe inner code integration things…

Hope there is a simple solution to all this, please give some instructions and / demonstration on how this is supposed to work.

Hi,

I haven’t tested, have you tried to see if works? What issue do you have, you can’t translate the 404 in different languages?

Thanks for your message!

Thoughts? Any suggestions? WPML adds /es /ru /fr etc.. etc.. at the end of the urls. Can this be done on the 404.php page?

Thanks

Hi,

What would be the best way to customize the 404.php page to handle different languages with the WPML plugin?

Thanks

Hi,

You can translate the theme from Theme panel like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-translate-the-theme/
Here’s how to use qTranslate plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/translate-your-site-in-multiple-language-with-qtranslate-plugin/
You can use this [:en]HOME[:de]IN GERMAN to translate themes text strings in any language.

Thank you

Good afternoon.
I have the multilanguage plugin WPML installed, together with the WPML String translation in order to translate all the english texts coming by default in theme.
However, most of these strings are not detected so I can’t translate them.
Is there any plugin that integrates newspaper with WPML.
I’ve read that you recommend to use qtranslate, with qtranslate would be possible to transalte the theme texts?
Thanks

Hi Lucian,

Many thanks! With the help of a friend i was able to bypass the problem completely using the WP No Category Base – WPML compatible plugin. I guess it had something to do with the fact that in mid production process we changed the URL format of the content.

Here is the site, we just wen’t online and i want to congratulate tagDIV for the wonderful theme, great work guys.

http://goalpoint.pt/

Still have a couple of issues though, specially because i’m no expert on CSS at all.

1. The social icons in the theme don’t seem to be fully integrated with the destination social networks (eg: i’m able to post in facebook but no picture or title appear as it happens in the newspaper theme demo, just the website name link).

2. Trying to solve the issue above i made the mistake of activating jetpacks publicize whith inserted 3 extra social icons that i’m not being able to remove at this point even after deactivating publicize.

These are the main issues i’m having at this point, everything else seems to be running swell. Most apreciated if you can direct me to links that might help me solve these problems.

PS – as you see we did some homepage subtle CSS changes, nothing much.

thanks and all the best

Hello,

I have to questions.

1) How to divide Google Analytics? I’m using WPML and I have website in 2 languages. I’d like to have seperate analytics for them.

2) When I want to upload custom featured image for Video posts, I have several issues.
When I indicate that post is Video and I upload Custom Featured Image, after publishing it is changed with the one from youtube. And when I indicate that this is Standard post, after publishing post, at the beginning there is custom image which I uploaded, But I want there to be Video, for which URL from YouTube was pasted in the post body at the beginning.

Thanks ahead

Hi,
I think WPML duplicate all images for each language. I found this: http://wpml.org/2011/05/new-plugin-wpml-media-translation/

Until we get a reply, I have added the following code to the get_block_title and get_block_title_raw methods, in td_block.php:

if (!empty($custom_title)) {
     $custom_title = translate($custom_title, 'newspaper');
 }

Would this be something you could include in a later version?
Thanks,

The explanation in post https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translation/#post-2491 doesn’t quite apply.
Any ideas? Thanks

I think I found the cause, I deactivated all plugins and started to activate them one-by-one. I activated all except of WPML plugins. It worked fine. Afterwards I activated WPML Plugins:

WPML Translation Management
WPML String Translation
WPML Sticky Links
WPML Multilingual CMS
WPML Media

I also activated all of them and problems began. Afterwards I deactivated them seperately. The cause is coming from WPML MEDIA.

What to do now? Plugins are updated.

Hi,
You have tried to translate your site using *.PO/*.MO files with WPML?

Hi Marius,

I’m using WPML as my multilingual plugin of choice. Be great to find a solution using this as it’s better supported.

Look forward to hearing back,
Thanks

Hi,
We haven’t tested other plugins, you can try WPML if you want but is not free.
Thanks for the message!

Hi Marius

I’m using WPML. Have tried the following in my functions

function hash_header_image_switcher() {

switch(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE){

	case 'en':
	$link_to_image = 'top-header-en.png';
	break;

	case 'fi':
	$link_to_image = 'top-header-fi.png';
	break;

	case 'sv':
	$link_to_image = 'top-header-sv.png';
	break;

	return $link_to_image;
	}
}

and then added this in to header-style-2:
<?php echo "<img src=" . hash_header_image_switcher() . " />";?>

but it’s not working.

Any ideas?
