Somehow I inadvertently cut out the 3rd column under the Trending Now section — 3 social network buttons followed by an ad, some articles, another ad and more articles. Any ideas on how to get those back without undoing all the customization I have done so far of the template? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,
Unfortunately I can’t say for sure what and how you customized the template and what you added or removed. If you are the one that customized the template, you should undo your last modification to restore the file to it’s previous state. Unfortunately when it comes to modifications, you have to be always have a back-up of your work as there is no update-proof way of altering the theme files.
If your customization is not made with code and it;s just visual composer you have trouble with, please provide more details and a link so we can inspect so I can provide a better answer as I can;t say much based on what information you provided.
Thank You!
Here are two screen grabs – one of the original Newspaper template and one of my custom version on WordPress (see http://www.rawfoodlife.com/wpress). I accidentally removed the content in the far right column (marked with an arrow) and would like to get it back. I am not sure how that happened but it left a big empty space in the right column now. I am hoping I can just take a section of the code from the original template and copy/paste it back into my customized version. Thanks for your help.
You can see my screen grabs at:
http://www.rawfoodlife.com/Newspaper-Template-1.png
http://www.rawfoodlife.com/Newspaper-Template-2.png
Hi,
If you removed the content from the sidebar, you can add it in again in visual composer. Just click the + button in that column, or if the row itself was split differently you need to split it again from here: http://screencast.com/t/Loygpkgx
Please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
Thanks.
I didn’t see a plus (+) button at all. Looked around a bit but no way found to add anything into that column. All I wanted from you originally was just the raw code from your template file that accidentally deleted so I can paste ir past back into my customized template. Just need the code and where to put it.
Now I must have done something I didn’t intend because after trying to use Visual Composer. I .. just get an error message on my home page now – I think I was looking to add a column or something but it just got stuck (spinning icon) so I closed the window and started again. But the layout of my template changed…almost all the images have disappeared and there is a little box icon with a zero “0” in it now that I didn’t have before…and when I click that icon I get the same Internal Server Error!!!!
Here’s the error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@rawfoodlife.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Hi,
Well an internal server error is exactly as specified. Please contact your host and let him know of the error. There is nothing we can do from our side unfortunately.
Please make sure the theme is installed properly. Use this guide to install it again via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ then please check you meet the requirements: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If visual composer still is not working, please update your plugin to the latest version by following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
You can find the latest version of the plugin in the main theme package under the plugins folder. It’s named ‘jscomposer’.
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi…
You misunderstood me!!! The server error came much later than the template error and had nothing to do with what we were talking about. That doesn’t let tagdiv off the hook, I’m afraid. Sorry!
I just told you about the server error to show you that something screwed up the template and perhaps caused an error with the server. I don’t know. I only got that server warning one time. I don’t see it now. I had a fine template then tried to add a column into the template. At that point, while playing with columns in the template, WordPress CRASHED! That was the first and only time I ever had WordPress actually crash and need to be restarted!!!
Then when I looked at the template again most of the text and images were gone, missing…and a little box icon with a zero in it [0] now shows up next to each article.
I left it just like that so you could see it (http://www.rawfoodlife.com/wpress). But now, without knowing it, I don’t have a backup because Updraft only goes back to Friday and I need to get a backup for Thursday – I’ll contact them next, but hopefully you can help me get my Newspaper site right again even if there is no backup — I hope.
The error message was only associated with trying to go back into Visual Composer with your template. I shouldn’t have bothered you with that since it apparently confused you. Ignore that please because it had nothing to do with the template getting screwed up just trying to add a column. I was just looking to see what was possible with columns and the system crashed right then and when I reloaded WordPress the template was damaged, and most of the images and some of the text was gone – maybe replaced with an icon with a zero in it that doesn’t seem to do anything when I click it.
That was Friday. Unfortunately, I had plans for the 4th of July weekend and didn’t look again until tonight.
Looking forward to your reply…and help!
Thanks
Bob Ross

Hi,
OK,It seems something went wrong. Please reinstall the theme via ftp (clean install). You will not lose any content as it’s kept in the DB. Please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
After you install the theme, please check your system status from the here: http://screencast.com/t/Bz2z8sLsynjI and make sure you get set all parameters according to this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
After that please disable all plugins except visual composer and clear ALL caches. including a cdn or server cache.
Now test your site again and see if there are still problems. If there are, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can login ind investigate. Also include a link to this topic.
Thank you!
Hi,
Well, last week I did all that you suggested in your last email and the theme is even more broken…not working properly. Most pages show a 404 error in big and bold type on top. Most theme elements are missing. The theme config page looks normal. I set all the parameters I could, though a couple wouldn’t “take.” I disabled all caches and site wasn’t working so I turned them all back on.
I tried to install the Newspaper Health & Fitness Demo but that crashed and came up with a long message:
“tagDiv importer detected an error. The importer will try to recover and continue to install the demo after you click ok on this dialog.
Steps to troubleshoot:
– Check the permissions on your upload folder
– Please make sure that WP_DEBUG is set to false in wp-config.php
– Contact our support via email contact@tagdiv.com (please provide your product license key)”
I ignored the message and clicked OK…did that 3 or 4 times, and the Health & Fitness demo fully installed and seemed to be working — but of course there was a broken theme still there in the background, as I found out when I uninstalled the Demo and got the same 404 errors and missing content. I am afraid to use the demo at all now with a broken main theme behind it.
I tried, just to test further, switching between the demo themes that came with WordPress and Newspaper, but that didn’t help. Most of those themes now all have the same 404 error. I can find no way to completely uninstall then reinstall the original Newspaper theme so I can just start over from scratch without the Newspaper theme inheriting all the broken elements of my already-installed and damaged theme. I just need to start over. Please advise me if you can how to completely remove all the theme elements and reinstall Newspaper from scratch. I hope I do not have to reinstall WordPress, too!!!
I really, really appreciate all your help,
Regards,
Robert Ross
Hello,
Reinstalling the theme is very easy. Deactivate the theme from the wordpress themes section and then simply access your files via ftp and delete the theme from your wp-content/themes folder and then install it again by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Then re-activate the theme. You can use this occasion to update your theme if you do not have version 7.2 yet. (you can download the latest version from envato)
Let us knwo if you still have trouble with this.
Thank you!
Hi,
Sorry to be such a bother — but none of that works. I just spent 2 hours downloading a new FTP app, going directly into the wpress directory and actually manually deleting the old Newspaper directory because whatever I did kept giving me the same 404 error. Then I went back in and checked the date on the Newspaper folder in public_html/rawfoodlife.com/wpress/wp-content/themes and checked the date on the folder and finally after a few tries it’s now got today’s date. HOWEVER, I was NO able to do Step 4 – Activate the newly installed theme by going to Appearance Themes and clicking the Activate button. After deleting the entire Newspaper fold, reinstalling from scratch and all that, I could not do this step because when I come back to WordPress after all this the theme is already activated. I am guessing that it has something to do with the database and reinstalling the theme has absolutely no effect on that, so when I reinstall it just goes to the database and gives me back the corrupted data. I need to know how to delete the theme entirely, all the way down to the database if necessary, so I can reinstall it from scratch and have it actually work! I am just hoping I do not have to entirely delete WordPress and the database in order ot reinstall it. It is incredibly horrible that Newspaper can be so corrupted somehow that it makes someone have to uninstall their entire WordPress and start over from scratch! Can you imagine?
Sadly, so far anything I have tried including all your suggested have made absolutely no difference at all and I still get the same 404 error. If you go back to my wpress you will see it since I left it like that as I have no idea what to do next.
Regards
Bob Ross
Oh, by the way … a little detail,
I also tried to reinstall the Visual Compose plugin. My WordPress control panel says it is installed, but I get a message in the Visual Composer settings that I somehow still need to activate it. I thought it came with the Newspaper theme?
Thanks
Bob
Hi,
The activation from visual composer can be ignored as the plugin is a free version and cannot be registered as we cannot provide as there is no registration code for the free version. We mention this here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
You can try one more thing before scratching everything and starting over. Try to rest your database with this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-reset/
It will however delete any posts/pages or content, but reinstalling everything from scratch will have the same effect so it;s worth a shot.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi
I used the WordPress Reset as you suggested and reinstalled / activated the Newspaper template. But now I do not even the actual template — just a sort of blog page with little in it. Where is the actual template with all the dummy content it comes with??? Here is what I have now:
http://rawfoodlife.com/wpress/
I created a new login for you for admin access using your name, Bogdan, and the password:
G$CHln(GyGs$%jUomite%ne3
Many thanks,
Bob Ross
Hi,
The wordpress reset removes the demo as well, so you have to install a demo again by following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
Thank you!
I was waiting to install the demo until I got the basic Newspaper template working right. The basic template I first installed looked like this:
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
Now I have nothing at all in the basic Newspaper template…that is not right! I do NOT want to install a demo theme on top of something that is not working properly to begin with. If you go to my site and look at the Newspaper theme, none of what I see on your sight for the basic theme is there. NONE. I want to get back the original Newspaper theme before I start doing anything else, like adding a demo. If that is not possible, then I just need to re-install WordPress from scratch. Aaargh!!!
Many thanks,
Bob Ross
Hello RawFoodGuy,
Please notice that if you have used the WP Reset, this type of plugin has deleted all the data from your database and bring the WordPress to the initial state. If you do not have a full backup for your customizations, please notice that you will have to do your website from scratch because using the Wp Reset all of these has been removed.
If is not what you mean, please provide more details so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi Catalin,
When replying to a long message thread I believe it is important to have Bogdan reply to me since he will understand the continuing issue. This is your first reply to me and you have misunderstood the entire problem forcing me to write again and kill another day. Just out of concern for your customers perhaps you could read the entire message thread first before replying to a customer so you can understand the context of our conversation. Just my opinion. This is especially important just now…the very absolute LAST reply from you guys that I needed since June 30th, 2 weeks, before I may have to delete my entire installation of WordPress and start from scratch with everything!
What happened is I uninstalled the Newspaper theme which had become corrupted soon after I installed it — giving me 404 errors on every page. SO I deleted Newspaper and reinstalled in. However, I never saw the full theme again…only an empty blog page:
http://rawfoodlife.com/wpress/
And here is what I should see from your theme: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
I need to get back the full Newspaper theme, with the entire layout & dummy content, before I do anything else. If that is not possible, then I need to uninstall and re-install WordPress as well as Newspaper from scratch — basically killing weeks of work due to a BUG in Newspaper that corrupted all the Newspaper files — both the PHP and somehow, I think, whatever Newspaper stores in the WordPress database.
But before I do all that I just want a little more clarity with TAGDIV since that will be helpful to both you guys and me! I was hoping for a way to reinstall the Newspaper theme in my existing WordPress, both files and database, without having to reinstall WordPress itself from scratch, and then reinstalling Newspaper from scratch.
Hope this all makes sense and we can resolve this in the next email. Either there is a way for me to fix my current Newspaper theme — or — I need to go ahead and uninstall everything, the theme AND WordPress, and start over, destroying weeks of work. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Robert

BEFORE READING THIS SEE THE REPLY I JUST SENT A MOMENT AGO!!!
RE: WP RESET…
As we discussed, of course I used WP RESET like Bogdan told me to. I already understood I would lose all my customizations. I just wanted to get the BASIC original Newspaper back and start over after your BUG in Newspaper caused the 404 error. I was planning on doing my Newspaper customizations from scratch. After the WP Reset was dome, I re-installed Newspaper from scratch!!! But I never even got back the actual Newspaper theme…just an empty blog page. So I assumed there is still some problem with the newspaper theme relating to the WordPress database — OR there is a bigger problem with your theme that we thought. If you go to my site you’ll see what I got when I reinstalled your theme (see Bodgan login and password above in this thread).
Please see my previous response a few minutes ago for the rest of my answer.

Hello RawFoodGuy,
Please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect your setup page. I will try to install the demo and check what will happen after. Also, please provide the link of this topic so we can easily identify you.
Thanks for your understanding!
HI CATALIN –
I DO NOT WANT YOU TO INSTALL A DEMO!!! PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL A DEMO. I NEED A CLEAN, FRESH, WORKING INSTALLATION OF NEWSPAPER WITHOUT A DEMO INSTALLED AFTERWARDS — OTHERWISE THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING IN THE BASIC INSTALLATION.
I WILL DELETE THEN RE-INSTALL WORDPRESS FROM SCRATCH IF NEWSPAPER DOES NOT WORK FROM A BASIC INSTALL. THIS ALREADY SEEMS TO BE THE CASE FOR ME, SO I AM MERELY DOUBLE CHECKING WITH YOU TO CONFIRM I AM CORRECT.
I SUGGEST YOU JUST REMOVE NEWSPAPER ENTIRELY THEN TRY TO TO INSTALL IT FROM SCRATCH AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. MAYBE IT WILL WORK IF YOU DO THAT AGAIN. OTHERWISE I’LL JUST DELETE THE ENTIRE WORDPRESS AND START OVER FFROM SCRATCH IRST THING ON MONDAY.
IF I DELETE THE ENTIRE WORDPRESS AND REINSTALL IT, DO I NEED ANYTHING FROM YOU TO RE-INSTALL THE NEWSLETTER THEME AGAIN IN A FRESH WORDPRESS DIRECTLY FROM YOUR SITE (NOT MY COMPUTER)?
Did this already…here it is again — with a new password:
– URL to your site: http://www.rawfoodlife.com/wpress
– Themeforest license code: f6f0a65f-22ad-4ca9-a94a-1ffbcbdab67a
– ADMIN Password for user Bogdan: 5hq17tibh7D6T0pqAtq!i120
