Site scrolls to top when I click on "more articles arrow"

Apologies if this was asked again. I browsed through the forum and did not find anything relevant.

My website automatically scrolls to the top, when someone clicks on any of the arrows that load more articles, at any part of the website. I am not sure when this started, but I assumed this is a javascript related error, firebug (or the chrome developer console) however does not show any error. The only javascript notice I get when examining with chrome’s console is

My caching plugin is wp-rocket while I also use cloudflare. I have disabled javascript minimization on both with no luck. Also note that tag div speed booster is not enabled.

If you need a link to replicate the error, or something was not clear enough, please let me know.

Thanks,

Andreas

Hello,

Please disable both wp rocket and rocket loader as they are known to cause issues with our theme. the recommenced cache and cdn settings are these ones: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
If the issue is still there please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
We have no reports of such issues until now so i think it’s a simple plugin conflict.
Also if you have any custom code added to the theme panel or customization done to the theme files, please also remove them to see if they do not affect the functionality of the theme. if you have a child theme, test the main theme also.

Thank you!

Hello Bogdan,

Thanks for the quick response!

Actually what you told me feels like a dagger in my chest 🙂 I have had serious problems with WP-Super-Cache and W3-Total-Cache (not theme related. They were just not caching) with load average reaching 30 when I had more than 1000 connected users. WP-Rocket solved my caching issues but apparently created this one. Is there nothing else I can do? Disabling the plugin does not seem like an option right now, unless I resolve my WP-Super-Cache issues.

Thanks,

Andreas

Hello andreaspom,

Please keep in mind that the theme has own tested plugins which are fully compatible with the theme and if you are using others untested plugins, the theme it may be damaged due conflicting plugins and that’s why, the only solution in this regard is to disable all untested plugins, to rule out the possible conflicts.

Thanks for the message!

Hello Bogdan and Catalin,

Once again thank you for your answers.

I have updated WordPress and Newsmag theme to their latest versions. I disabled wp-rocket and replaced it with wp-super-cache (using your recommended settings) and indeed the problem I described with the scrolling was resolved. HOWEVER, when testing cache through the plugin I get the message “The pages do not match! Timestamps differ or were not found!” which usually means cache is not working. I run google page speed an my results were good (lower than when using wp-rocket, but still ok. Desktop score is 80 and mobile score is 66). I am not sure whether caching works or not right now. Any advice on how to make sure?

Andreas

Hello andreaspom,

Please keep in mind that the Wp Super cache is fully tested with the theme and until now, seems to work as properly with our theme. Please ensure that you have disabled all the untested plugins from your side because all of these may interact with the theme and this plugin and cause a lot of unknown issues. If the problem persists, you should try to make a new clean install from scratch, only with tested plugins, clear all the caches and check the results. Also, you can check this online topic here -> https://wordpress.org/support/topic/timestamps-differ-or-were-not-found-3/ maybe will help you.

Regarding on your page speed, please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized. Please notice that this is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services is not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit to our requirements.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I updated to the latest version of WordPress and the latest update of Newsmug. I then uninstalled wp-rocket and installed super cache. Everything is working fine.

once again thanks!

Andreas
