If you’re not going to bring this feature back I’m going to be stuck on a version of the them that is gradually going out of date…

Why has 980px been removed?!

We always switch the site to 980px wide whenever we’ve sold a “Homepage Takeover” which includes a background ad. Without that there isn’t the space to display enough room for advertisers.

Please tell me you are bringing this back. I love this theme but this is an absolute dealbreaker and I am not looking forward to trying to find another theme to use because you’ve inexplicably removed a core feature….

You need to provide users with an option for a narrower repsonsive site. It doesn’t have to be 980 but it has to be narrow enough so that those of us who need to sell that space can do so.

I’m still trying to get to the bottom of it.
I updated Newspaper to 3.7 and WP to 3.9 and activated the extension and had the problem.

My next step was uninstall it and revert back to the old versions of Newspaper and WP.
It appears that the AJAX problem doesn’t return until all three are activated.

Originally it stopped any of the “Load more” elements on the blocks from working.

I’ve now managed to get some of them working but not all.
If you look on my staging site you’ll see the main slider still isn’t working. And none of the actual features of the extension itself.

Its a shame because that extension would be a really good addition to the them if i could get it working! I’m going to drop the plugin authors a line too but I can’t replicate this problem on other themes.

I’ve purchased that extension and used it successfully on other sites but unfortunately haven’t been able to get it to work on Newspaper just yet.

The extension won’t work unless you have an up to date version of the Visual Composer plugin which you can get in the latest version of Newspaper 3.7.

However I’ve been experiencing issues with this. All the AJAX functionality seems to be affected when I activate the ‘ultimate addons’ extension. I can’t find out what the issue is currently but will let you know if I do!

It seems my issue is also related to an extension called ‘Ultimate Visual Composer AddOns’ which seems to add to the AJAX problems. Quite annoying as it works just fine on other websites that are on WP 3.9

Hopefully the problem will go away in the next update, if not I’ll have to find a way to get to the bottom of it!

I’d also like to see the Visual Composer updated to the latest version.

I’ve downloaded an extension called “Ultimate Visual Composer Add ons” (http://codecanyon.net/item/ultimate-addons-for-visual-composer/6892199)
Its saying that the Visual Composer plugin requires version 3.7.2 or greater.

Some of the features of this extension look brilliant. Since I’ve already purchased it it doesn’t really matter but It would be great if this extension was included in Newspaper by default!

I’ve just tried placing the ‘td_menu’ file directly into Newspaper not the child theme and it appears to work. newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_menu (I’ve not tried the second part yet to use that menu on a category)

Won’t this mean though that I’ll have to edit that file every time there is an update to Newspaper?

I’ve tried adding a directory called ‘wp_booster’ to the ‘includes’ folder (i.e. my-child-them/includes/wp_booster/td_menu.php) but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Whilst these solutions can work great I would still love it if the TagDiv guys were able to build this into the theme directly (Restrict Content Pro seems the most adaptable) :p

In the meantime I’ll let you guys know which seems to work best

Just to let you know that this issue appeared to be a cache problem after all.

It turns out my web hosting provider had cached an old version of the site that was conflicting with the upgrade somehow.

Ok so to clarify my problem.

I want to change the styling of the main title’s on posts and pages. I’m using a font that isn’t included in the theme and a size larger than the default of 40px.

So I added my own h1 styling to the child theme.
So far I’ve succesfully been able to change: The font-face, The font size, the letter-spacing, text-transform and padding.

However, when i try to change the line-height (px or %) or the color nothing happens. The only way I can change these particular elements seems to be within the Theme Panel (which doesn’t go beyond 40px)

There appears to be some default styling somewhere that is stopping me from making these changes. Please could you either point me to the bit of CSS thats affecting this or show me how to change the Theme panel defaults to go higher?

I tried that. I’ve tried px, percentage, em… Nothing seems to work.
I have no problem changing the size, colour and font but the line height seems to be defaulting to something else.

The only thing I can that makes any difference is set the line height in the theme panel but this only goes up to 40px.

Any ideas?

When I create a new page or post in visual composer and choose a css animation nothing happens.

Everything appears static on on the page regardless of whether I select an animation or not.

I switched from Magazinly and all the stuff that used to animate no longer does and when I try and create new content for example – a page with images that appear left to right as you scroll down – nothing happens!

Was just wondering if anybody else is having this issue at all?
