In addition to what I saw is that a lot of people are asking for more demos and designs. While I understand the request and the workload for you guys, on this specific point I want to ask for something different based on an example for post styles.

In legacy version we could just easily select between different post styles in an easy way. Now with cloud templates, we actively need to create a post style from scratch. This is not always easy and for some without a lot of knowledge in that area it might be too complicate and frustrating.

With some demos, you provide new post styles which we then can import to our cloud templates. However, this imports the whole page and design elements which is not matching the rest of the site.

So in order to help us out, it would be great to get kind of a framework or documentation of different post styles which we can then apply on a page of our own. In that way, it matches our design and we can set it up once. I hope this makes sense somehow.

Hi @Anamaria
Thank you for your feedback.
It is great that you want to help your customers to generate revenue but it would be more helpful if this would happen with products that make actually sense.

The paywall feature is a pain when it got released. You were providing something that was needed in your area but maybe not for all your customers. When we wanted to get rid of the invoicing part or certain fields it was mentioned that this sort of customization would be not possible. The feature did not create any backend users or gave us the option to add them to newsletters etc. The management of users was just difficult.

This is one of the features that got released half-baked but got advertised with a lot of noise.

The same happened to CPT in 11.5 Lot’s of noise about the awesome update but since day one of that update, your customers were asking for Demos and instructions. Instead, we were asked to wait for the next update which took 4 months. So I kind of felt it be wrongly advertised.

If you go by popular requests, I think I saw more requests from your customers to enhance the author review feature than user reviews. With great reviews, your customers are generating revenue, yet it is just a block.
Also, how do you figure out what is popular? Is there any roadmap or anything your customers can vote on?

You really should stick to what you are, providing a newspaper theme and making that the best, easiest and leanest available. 100s of features will bloat it up and you can’t meet all requests. Your theme is called the newspaper and not any multipurpose theme. Trying to compete with premium plugins can only make it worse – for example directory plugin.

I was already really hesitant when I was forced to use your own composer instead of one of the three major ones. Why? Because if you keep loading up the theme with features that are not needed without the chance to deactivate them, I might have to switch the theme but that’s the problem. Since everything is built with TD composer, I have to start from scratch. Sure that is one way to retain your customer base.

How do you plan on moving forward?
As you mentioned you want to help your customers avoid paying for premium plugins by creating your own features in a theme. And I think that is the problem we see. You try to implement so many features from plugins but as you said, you are a small team. This results in half-baked features which are creating frustrations. And people are stuck with unnecessary code on their page just because of a couple of requests. I don’t want user reviews, how do I get rid of it?

See, I’m not trying to bash you guys, but trying to understand and of course, part of me is frustrated as well.
So what I would like to get some answers specifically are the following:

1. Author review – My number one feature request. Is that on your list? Are you guys working on the multiple requests to make author reviews much nicer and easier? This is a content piece that generates revenue for your customers. It has been brought up and we were asked to wait for the next update.

2. Feature turn-off. Since you are integrating more and more stuff, can we please make options in the theme panel that either disable certain features or you branch them out as your own plugins? In that way, the customer can decide what feature they need and load it as required.

3. More and fast bug fixing. There were lots of things going on with the review schema and not everyone was aware of the solution to delete something and reactivate again. Instead of providing a bug-fixing update, we have been asked to wait for the next update. As you mentioned, customers are generating revenue, we can’t wait for SEO impacting fixes for months.

4. Small feature updates. You don’t have to make huge update jumps, no Theme developer does that. Add a feature here and there but you don’t need to make everyone wait just to release an update with X new features which some of them might be buggy.

Thank you.

I just wish there would be more clarity of what the CPT integration actually should do. Instead of a real documentation on how to start something from scratch, we only get referred to three links and one link to user reviews.

Thank you for bringing that up. Didn’t know about it since I’m hesitant to use the listing feature and you are right, without those options it won’t make sense at all.

@Tagdiv any updates for the post?

gono

So any update or Feedback from Tagdiv as they are obviously active in the forum?

Hello Bettina,
Please read my post again. I’m not interested in user reviews.
Thank you.

Hi Calin,
That sounds great but can you clarify a bit more?
For example, I upload any Google font to the custom fonts option, then I select in the Cloud templates (either in tagDiv Composer/Module Fonts OR Website Manager Fonts) the Google font. Does the theme then pull the local font file or still from Google?

gono
tagDiv Member

Hi
Uh? I thought there was an option to load fonts locally. Please make this a priority as the theme states to be GDPR compliant.
Thank you.

Good news, thank you so much, this will help for sure with indexing and ranking as we now allow our content to be discoverable.

Hi
Where is td_module.php located? And what needs to be changed in which place?
Thank you.

Hello
Can we please get finally a fix for this? You guys were messing with important SEO settings weeks ago and just don’t fix it but yet we have to bear the consequence of it.
It is not just a small issue, it is affecting us. We literally tell search engines to don’t pay attention to our own content by using your flex boxes.
You were quick in turning “follow” off for a request but hesitant to provide a solution to fix this error.
Your ad says that your theme “uses the best clean SEO practices” and yet it does not. I’m sorry but it’s like talking to a wall. There are so many little things that need to be fixed but yet it gets postponed because of the preparation of a big feature update. I can’t imagine what features could make up for two months of lost SEO crawl ability.

Hi
Yes I know, I responded a couple of times in this post and the wrong statement. SEO ranking is being dragged down by this request and we are still out of a fix. It should have never been set to nofollow without an option in the first place.
It would be great if SEO issues like the nofollow issue and the review schema would have a priority in your bug fix releases since it is affecting live sites.
Thank you.

So aside from new features, the other important bug fixes did not make it to this update? Like the SEO nofollow issue or review schema?

gono

Hi Bettina,
Thats awesome and exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

gono

Hello Bettina,
So the question is: When is the new update coming?
We are currently waiting for so many important and some critical fixes and yet nothing has been released. Review schema is still broken, SEO affected by no-follow options (seriously downgrading ranking), CPT/ACF available but no demos on how to use it etc, opt-in builder plugin issues, and some more.
I’m not asking for more and more features but bug fixing. No-Follow should have never been implemented without giving an option.
Thank you.

I use that plugin already but still get the massive amount of CSS shown. Which options do you use to get rid of it?
Beside this issue, the most annoying part is that there has never been an explanation of WHY there is so much unnecessary CSS code. The CSS code for a cloud template should be based on the options and selections we make in the tagdiv editor.

Hi,
5 weeks since opening this thread, any ETA?
I’m currently in between working with your theme if CPT works as advertised or using a plugin or moving on with a different theme that supports it natively.
Thank you.

Thank you @dmxsta

So can we expect an option in an update for that or do we have to discard the plug-in for not having the option?
Would be great if this would have been mentioned on the theme page that the plug-in is limited to email address field only and not allowing us to collect the name as all other plugins do. Sadly now second plug-in in theme package that is just half baked due to limitations (other one is opt-in builder for not allowing us to customize/remove unnecessary fields).

Can we get instructions dmxsta has been sent so we can fix it on our site as well? Google indexing doesn’t sleep and we don’t know when the new update comes out.
Thank you.

gono

Hi
Not sure how to show as it is not working.
Your newsletter plug-in seems to not allow a field for collecting the name as all others, only email address.
So a visitor can only use their email address and I have never a way to address them by name.

Thank you.

It might sound harsh but did you guys even read both articles before making the change? I spend the time to read the first one and just glanced at the second one. This is all related to outbound links and not inbound. As a site owner you always trust your own page and can use follow for index purposes. Both articles are talking about nofollow for outbound but we are talking about our internal links.
It would be great if further studies would have been made before switching to nofollow based on one request which is now affecting and hurting all others.

Perfect, that worked, thank you Calin.

Thank you but this just moves the whole sidebar lower which then appears to be out of line when not scrolled.
We just need a fix to have the sidebar align with the sticky header when you scroll down but otherwise appear in one line with the text.
