Well, I spoke too soon. Instagram settings worked for 1 day and then stopped.

Now, my home page presents: “…“Block Render Failed-Unsupported Request-method type: get” on my homepage…”.

Disregard my earlier post. I finally got Instagram to work after much finagling with the theme.

I’ve given up on a TagDiv fix for this issue. It’s been going on for a while. TagDiv has no control over how Facebook changes it’s API and the side effect is the issue for some of us who use the Newspaper theme.

Thanks to all. Yes, I’m aware the personal account is supposed to work and, it did for me for a while but now, it too no longer works. It was for this latter reason I posted my question.

Please disgard this post. I figured it out. Thanks.

Apologies, I figured out the solution. Thanks for your response.

This is annoying. This lack of Instagram functionality has been ongoing for a while.

Simon:

Thanks for your tips. The TagDiv composer was the problem!

As for #2, yes, I’d like a banner running across the top of every page of my site. You’ve confirmed it will take a modification of theme files to do that. What I want to put up is the site logo so that I don’t have to put a single image of the logo on every page.

Can you convey what modification of the theme files I must make to accomplish this? Thanks, tom

Update: Please disregard question #3. I fixed the problem by regenerating a secret key for the Facebook app.

With respect to question #1, the rendering of the single image on my home page displays an image crop in Chrome and Safari. It appears just fine in Firefox.

Thanks.

I should add, to my initial query re Single Image Resolution, I’ve seen a separate response from you about how to fix this on here (to “freshmedia?”), and the YouTube tips you cite are of no help.

Thanks, yes, I did follow your link and all of the parameters were correct without needing modification. I infer the reason I was having trouble stems from too many attempts to change the page with visual composer causing server timeouts. Thanks again.

I forgot to mention: I’m running Newspaper 7.8 & WPBakery Visual Composer 5.1. I’m double checking to make sure I have the latest versions of each. Also, my question pertains to WPBakery functionality in Newspaper. The only other major change to my site is I added WordFence and deleted iThemes Security Pro from the site.

Thanks, tom

Thanks. Yes, I’ve optimized the site by deleting plugins and following your suggestions. Problem is, the home page still takes about 20-30 seconds to load the slider. That’s way too long. As you know, a visitor will click off a site after 2 seconds if a page or graphic doesn’t invoke. And they won’t even know this slider is there because they won’t wait around to view it. When I invoke this page … I see white screen space (using 3 different browsers) for about 20-30 seconds.

This is a nice, but practically useless function for my site. I tried it because I wanted to take advantage of theme native features and avoid the overhead of the revolution slider. It looks like I’ll revisit the revolution again. Thanks again for your help. Tom

Simon:

Thanks. I migrated my site from a Managed WP server to a CPanel shared host, increased site RAM by a GB, installed WP-Super Cache, and removed all MU plugins from the managed WP site. The site is real fast now.

Ironically, the TagDiv image carousel or slide still doesn’t load when the home page is invoked. One has to land on the page for a minute or two, before the slide starts. To me, this indicates a problem with the theme.

I suppose a plugin could be the culprit. But those I am running I need.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Please disregard my last question. I know where this ad “lives”, that is, the file pointer from the theme. What I’m not sure about is if I can attach an html redirect link to the file. Thanks, tom

All:

I tried the suggestions cited here. None worked. Ironically, WP came out to a recent upgrade. That fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help and comments.

Thank you. I updated the Theme to 7.3. Visual Composer was already 4.12. Where do I find the update for the social counter plugin? I thought it was included with Theme updates, but my plugin remains at version 3.1 even after the theme update. I’ve checked Envato and the update download for the social counter plugin.

Thanks, tom

Ok, please disregard my earlier messages. I figured out how to do it. I edited this row in Classic Mode: [vc_row full_width="stretch_row" parallax="content-moving-fade" parallax_image="125" el_class="td-travel-header"] by changing the image ID # to the image I wanted.

The image, although the same dimensions, did not appear correctly, but that’s a separate problem of image sizing it appears.

Thanks again for your help. Tom

To add to my earlier message. The name of the demo file graphic is banner.jpg. It is in the Media tab area of my WordPress installation. Since I can’t invoke the row settings page to change this file with one I want, I tried to alter the banner.jpg image file path in the media area by renaming an image I choose and putting it in the correct path renaming my file “banner.jpg”. But the theme won’t let me make these changes.

Catalin:

I tried this approach as you suggested: http://screencast.com/t/6B0xoqi6. However, I am not presented with a row settings panel on the right hand side of the Home page as is displayed in your example. Thus, I cannot change the image. Is there something I should do to invoke the row settings display as presented in your example? I can’t see it if it’s there.

To be clear, what I am trying to replace is the default demo image on the landing page (home page) for the Travel Demo. The default image is dark featuring two rows of cars between buildings on a semi-dark street. THAT is the image I am trying to replace. But I just can’t find out “where it lives”.

Many thanks, tom

Thanks so much for your response. I’ll give it a try and let you know if it does not work. Tom
