Fresh Install – Multiple Issue withing 1 hour of using! Please Help!

Hey Guys,

First of, Great theme! Has epic potential if I can get all these issues resolved.

1. Uploading the theme via WP failed with “The Link You Tried To Follow Expired” – I could not upload the zip file at all, after googling there were multiple possibilities. So I uploaded it via Cpanel File Manager and it worked.

2. Your TD Composure doesn’t work for me, every time I tried to add an element the turning simple/icon just spins around and around no stop… forever.

3. If you scroll down this example link:

https://new.ibanplastic.com/meet-the-bacteria-on-a-plastic-diet

You will see the Instagram in the footer takes up the entire footer. I have selected footer style 1, which should be 3 rows and a bottom section. But with Instagram its just taken over the entire bottom, no borders at all. From one end of the screen to the other… is that the way its suppose to be?

Thanks for your time,

Krix

4. Images are no loading either, as you can see in above link. I am just clicking “add media” in the standard WP post editor

5. At the top of the page, there is no WP dashboard menu, I can’t navigate in and out of the dashboard or even click “Edit” when viewing a post or page.

Hi,

1. The most recommended method would be by FTP
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
There could be a number of reasons why WordPress displays that message, even insufficient max upload size
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

2. Please check the theme requirements mentioned in the guide provided above. Those are the number one cause for this to happen, insufficient resources. If needed ask your hosting provider to increase those parameters.

3. There will be 3 columns with the widgets, but below the Instagram section
https://www.screencast.com/t/PBLMQPbQ
If you use footer template 1 this should have predefined widgets to display
https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
In your case it seems those default widgets are not displayed. Try changing the footer template and check if it displays properly. Make sure the footer is enabled
https://www.screencast.com/t/o1GfZHbMdfBG

4. That could be related to a plugin conflict or code entered in the theme panel. Those are the most common causes for image problems.
If you check on the bottom of the post the related articles/more from author section is also not working properly, the header search function is also not working.

Try to temporarily deactivate all non-theme plugins, check if this solves the problem. Let us know.

5. The admin bar is not controlled by the theme. Maybe you removed it by code previously or it is not enabled in your WordPress user profile settings

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for quick reply,

4. there are no plugins, it’s a fresh install and first thing I did was make a post with the images not working. and your right, author section and related articles are not showing either.

5. I am not a coder, as above it’s a fresh install and a new subdomain. The only other plugin that I installed which is after my initial message is Yoast SEO plugin. Before that, it is just Theme and plugins that came with it.

Also, now I put some widgets in the footer to see what it looks like and they do not display, I suspected this because I put in the “Footer Info Content” like the logo, copywriter txt, footer text and email like it has a structure in the Theme Panel and none of that displays either.

This is getting quite frustrating and you guys will be closing up for the weekend soon and I am quite eager to work on the site over the weekend.

I have an entire dedicated server, so I can pretty much manipulate any hosting setting you think maybe off, but I am pretty sure this is not the case as everything is unlimited and the other website I have on the server does not have this issue.

I put Debug mode to “True” and I am getting a lot of fatal errors with your theme. I would understand if this was me changing a theme on an already overdeveloped, heavy plugin website, but fresh install, nothing but your plugins and error after error after error.

ok so I checked and for some reason, my php was set to ea-php70 – After, moving it down to ea-php56 the photo issue was resolved along with a lot of the errors posted above… But 1

In the Requirement Page, you linked me it suggests having php of 52 or greater. But there is a lot of php issues with php70 – So perhaps change that 😀

I still have the TagDiv Composer not working and this Footer Issue. This is the only fatal error left after the php change:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_detect_encoding() in /home/cleanthe/public_html/New/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_css_res_compiler.php on line 54

Line 52 is:

So I did a fresh install of WordPress and a new install of your theme and same problems.

1. The WordPress Dash Board menu at the top is a blank white bar
2. The Composer does not work at all and after inspecting elements I see this in the console:

js_files_for_wrapper.min.js?ver=__td_aurora_deploy_version__:205 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘deleteItem’ of undefined

3. Still no footer.

How can these errors arise on a fresh install? no other plugins are there. Nothing new WordPress install uploaded the theme. Bame! Error after Error… I haven’t even touched anything yet.

4. Maybe I am misunderstanding the problem. So you are inserting images in the post content, then publish the post. Are the images visible when you enter them in the post content? From what I can see that post contains no images, none that I checked have. They also do not have featured images, so no thumbnails will be created
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
The latest version of the theme supports PHP versions up to 7.2 so this would not be a problem. If you get the detect encoding error, your PHP web server is lacking support for the function: mb_detect_encoding.
Please ask the host if this can be enabled.

5. Does the admin bar show if you use a default WordPress theme? Test if possible. The theme does not have a setting for disabling the admin bar, so it would only be affected by the WordPress setting I mentioned.

In the footer you can choose one of the available templates, or use a footer page
https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
Widgets you enter in the footer sections will be displayed below the predefined ones (if you use a style that has them) or you can choose an empty template and display them only. They should appear once you enter them. I see that you seem to be using footer style 1, so the additional widgets you enter here will be shown below
https://www.screencast.com/t/800M0njCv

So basically the theme and theme plugins should work if the requirements mentioned in my previous reply are met. Check them carefully. However most issues that happen are related to server configurations, limitations etc.

The composer issues were fixed in some cases with these solutions
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/gray-page-tagdiv/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/javascript-error-td-composer-wont-load/

Let us know the results.

Hello,

The footer issues and the WordPress bar issues along with the composure not loading issue was all fixed when I enabled mdstring.

In your Themes System Status (which I think is a genius feature to have) it said mdstring “didn’t make the theme unfunctionable but made to use alternative functions.”

Or something like this.

But seems to me mdstring is a must have.

Anyway, I got there in the end. Great theme, I hope you guys do well with it. There is one thing I noticed though, I remove the date and author from the posts, but when I enable the “more article” box – the popup shows the author and date.

Thanks for your time 😀

Glad you could solve the issues. That is why we created that guide and ask users to first check it. Most issues are solved by it.

The more author box date and date is connected to these setting
https://www.screencast.com/t/5o6hlQsX1V3
Disabling the author name and date there will remove form all blocks and grids. If you only want them to be removed for the more article box try a code like this in Theme panel->Custom CSS

.td-content-more-articles-box .td-post-author-name,
.td-content-more-articles-box .td-post-date {
display: none;
}
