Hi everybody,

I would like to generate a nice thumbnail out of youtube. I really miss this feature, because I think it’s difficult to use random post pics because of copyright law. What’s the best method to use nice thumbnails? Thanks for any advice. 🙂

All the best to you all,

Simon

Hello,
Unfortunately this will not be so easy as the sub-footer is divided in 2 sections. 1 for the copyright and the other for the sub-footer menu. The copyright can be centered but only by altering the theme files and removing the container needed for the menu and then using css to position the copyright text.
You first need to remove this part: http://screencast.com/t/pCzg2vn8
Then use this css code in the theme panel for positioning:
.td-sub-footer-copy{
display: table;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
float: none!important;
}

Thank you!

It seems that in the current version the html in the footer copyright gets stripped down again. We will look into this and fix it. Please try the code above to see if it still applies.
Thanks.

Since ver. 6.6 should be ok: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/add-a-link-to-the-sub-footer/

Hello,

Where do I go to get this removed?

simchris
tagDiv Member

No. Not a bug.
The version included with theme can ONLY be updated when there is a new THEME update. You can’t update the plugin separately, as you don’t have a license to do so. So, you can ignore the “update notice” — you don’t HAVE to update anything everytime there is an update available.

The screen shot you added has NOTHING to do with a “copyright notice” — it’s merely saying there is an update “available” for the plugin. You don’t need the “latest version” to use theme. You have the latest version TESTED to work with the theme.

Again, please see theme docs:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/

READ WHAT IT SAYS:
The theme includes a license for this plugin so you don’t have to buy it.
You don’t have to activate the plugin license, it’s already activated. <<<<<<
You can’t update the plugin directly from the it’s producer.
You don’t have to worry about the plugin update warnings. <<<<<<

(( I don’t work here . . . ))

I did like the guide.
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/

But Visual Composer continues to copyright requirements . 🙁 I think this is a bug.

Has nothing to do with “copyright…” — you have a free “bundled version” license for the plugin, but you don’t have a paid license so you have to wait for the next theme update to get the latest tested-safe/compatible version of VC. Just ignore t he “update available” notice.

See the theme docs on “how to update” for more info. 🙂

Upshot: just ignore it, you don’t need to do anything.

Hi,

I am not able to change the copyright that appears in the footer area of my blog.

I performed the changes in the ”Copyright widget” in French and in English, as well as in the ”Theme panel” section but it still the old one that shows in French.

The old one is ”©Droit d’auteur © 2015 WAPPITI LTÉE | TOUS DROITS RÉSERVÉS” the new one is ”Droit d’auteur © 2016 VIRGINIECHABOT.CA | TOUS DROITS RÉSERVÉS”

In English, the new one shows up right: ”COPYRIGHT © 2016 VIRGINIECHABOT.CA | ALL RIGHTS RESERVED”

Thanks,

Virginie

Hi

Try to ad this line of code in footer.php file like here: http://screencast.com/t/9YYsgTKh

$tds_footer_copyright = stripslashes(td_util::get_option('tds_footer_copyright'));

Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!

So I’m blessed with the kind of ethnic last name that includes punctuation. When I put it into the “Footer copyright text” in Newsmag, it shows up on the page with a slash that shouldn’t be there.

My name is Dane O’Leary and that’s how I’m typing it into the copyright text area, but it’s showing up on my site as “Dane O\’Leary” for some reason. I’ve tried inputting the code for the apostrophe, I believe it’s &39; or something to that effect, and while it’ll work temporarily, the next time I go into the theme panel and save some other, unrelated change, the slash appears again.

It’s kind of getting on my nerves. Any idea how to fix this? This has been happening pretty much since I first started using Newsmag, but it only just dawned on me to ask about it here.

Simplest way to do that is just edit the footer file and put in the HTML you want in the sub-footer copyright section. Simple 🙂

Hello,
I tested the copyright area again and the html does not get converted in any way. I could not recreate the issue. Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear your cache and reset cdn if you use it. There might be a plugin conflict which interferes with the copyright links. If the problem is still there afterwards, then please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can take a look at this. Please also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.
Thank you!

Hello orbofdarkness,

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to change the position for Copyright because it is added on span element and if you try to change the parameters you can break the layout of the site, sorry!

Thank you for your understanding!

Hello,
In order to have links in the copyright section, you need to make sure you have the latest version of the theme: http://screencast.com/t/cveJAIDQb and then you can use html links inside the theme panel in the copyright area.
For the second part, this is the way the containers are set-up. The theme uses a span element for the footer which affects other parts of the theme as well. You will need custom modifications in order to edit the footer copyright.
Thank you!

I am trying to add links inside the copyright text area. I want to add links to my terms and privacy pages after the copyright like this:

2016 Mysite.com. By using this site you are agreeing to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

This only sort of works, sometimes I get one of the links working and not the other, sometimes it outputs a giant text string into the footer copy and sometimes it removes part of the text. I assume you did not design the copyright text input area in the sub footer settings to accept links?

I feel like I almost have it working. Is there another way I should be writing it? Do I need to edit the footer php file?

Also, how do I center the whole copyright text area. I can center align the text with css but the whole block is still way over to the left side. How do I center align the whole footer text block?

Thanks

How to remove © Copyright 2015 – Newsmag by TagDiv in the bottom?

Michael

When using the TagDiv gallery by default it uses both the Image Caption and the Image Description causing a duplication and/or some unnecessary information (copyright info etc in the description) that is in the Gallery.

Is there a way to just bring in the caption in settings?

Hi there,

I needed to put the Footer Copyright text in the Center. Currently it is showing on the left. Kindly see screenshot. I did check the comments section and found this code but it didn’t work.

.td-sub-footer-menu, .td-sub-footer-copy {
text-align: center;
}

Hi,

how can I do to insert into the sub footer (Footer Copyright Text) a text with a link to a target=”_blank”?

Example text is: POWERED BY STUDIOTOPO (the link should be on the world STUDIOTOPO).

Thanks

I’ve tried a few plugins, they all give the same result. About copyrights issues – all images are legit, my aim is to reduce server load. I’m using http://cloudinary.com/ service. It’s a great service providing compression and CDN for your files (there is also a free plan), so instead of hosting your images on your local server, you can host them on the cloud server. In such a way you gain point in page speed, in cache and in server load time (noting that the Newspaper theme uses Lazy Load as well). If you are putting an image in your post, I recommend using this service. In my case, I want the featured image to be loaded from an external URL. Maybe eventually I will find something.

We use the plugin to load images from external URL — the first image in post — if it’s placed in the post we’re importing.

So, we have a network — we publish news on our mothership, then our sub sites pull the content via RSS, where the first image in post is coming from mothership; the plugin then generates a featured image and sets as featured in WP locally, on the satellite site.

As to “using external URL” — without the image being IN the post already, no idea.

And of course, be aware of copyright issues.

Check the wordpress.org plugin repository and try them out ?
