Here i used a 2/3 reow for the contact form generated by the plugin and a 1/3 row for the sidebar added using a widgetized sidebar block.

The featured image size is 800 × 450 , is it big enough to fit the thumbs?

I found that – but I couldn’t figure out how on your sample page that it had the text white, the background black, and then on hove the background went to white and the text went to black.

Seems like there needs to be one more setting to allow for the hover text to be black.

I also don’t have a CDN & I don’t know how to edit a HTA access file… hmm

Hi thanks for that, it worked just fine. One final thing, how would I two tone the block-title class so that one side is one colour and one side another colour, such as light grey or brown, like in the example actually?

Depends on which one you want to show up in search results. Categories is most common as these would be your main indexes like “books” and “music” — while tags might be things like “rap music” and “scifi books” … the reason to NOT do both is if you had tags called new books, and category called books, which is redundant.

We use both as we have main semantic categories for news, then we use tags for things like — using books as example — fiction ,nonfiction, book author, book publisher, book topic — which would make categories a nightmare.

So, we *do* want the TAG index to show up for the book “publisher” if we have content about multiple books from the same publishers, but we don’t want to make a category out of it.

So, books => all books written about
while tag > book publisher => all books written about ONE publisher

See how that works? That is the ideal use case for categories and tags.

There is your definitive answer. That is how we’ve been using them for 16 years and works pretty darn well for us 🙂

I like to link the category pages in the block section like this attached link (http://prnt.sc/a3l9kz).

Their are some options to show more posts such as ‘load more button’, Next Prev ajax & infinite load. But i like to link the category pages somewhere in the each ‘block’ area.

I must be stupid or missing something totally obvious because I still cannot get this to work. I’ve officially gone through and replaced every single one of the td placeholder images, making sure that each image is of appropriate size, dimension, and name. Then I went in and changed the code in td_module per your instruction in that other post, and it’s still not working.

It looks like instead of my placeholder image showing up, there’s this teeny tiny little empty square in the upper-left corner of where my placeholder image should be in a sidebar module. For example:

And here’s what my code looks like. I tried it both as you wrote it as well as with the exact name of the files in my no-thumb folder, which means I’ve tried “3-300×160.png” and “td_300x160.png” and neither of them work.

I really hope you can figure out what I’m missing here because I really just don’t understand how this isn’t working. I would just say screw it and give up, but I really need these placeholder images to work.

There is no easy way to accomplish this. Basically you will need a script which verify if the user has been registered on the site between the current time and x-days ago Here iI found a possible example how to get the user registration time: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/77876/display-user-registration-date. In your case the condition should be more specific if you want to loop only trough subscribers or contributors. If this condition is true then echo out a specific field from the database which contains the desired information.
Please consider that this is a complex task which require advanced coding skills, also many customization and tests. If you can’t do this by yourself my advice is to look for someone which can help you with this or hire a freelancer to do it for you as we can’t offer any type of custom work at the moment.

More importantly I would like to make clear the following. When a post on social media is being received very well, you create an ability (This is not rocket-science) to predict a certain amount of views.

When almost overnight these views (of the article-counter, not the facebook counter)is tumbling down by +/- 80 % there must be a problem with the theme. I understand each social media post will not redirect the same amount of traffic. In other words, for example, 50 retweets of a Tweet will not always redirect the same number of link clicks to the specific article. But after approximately 10 posts on the site to see the views go down by 80% on each post suggests that something is wrong. I hope this is what is being tested.

Additionally, yes we cleaned cache and we are testing it this week. Hope it has been solved.

The code that i provided it’s tested and works fine, so please make sure you added it properly, like here for example: http://screencast.com/t/yJbELHQRI7o I just replaced the page-id with the numeric id for one of my pages.
I can’t offer any further assistance regarding the code implementation but following the above instruction you should be able to implement it. Also I am not sure at what line 36 are you referring so please provie a screen pointing to the required file.

Sorry for any inconveniences but I am not aware how the plugins that you’re using generate the custom post types and especially how they are named.
In order to have the custom post type displayed in a block you have to insert the exact name which was given by plugin’s author. That name can be find by inspecting the post type source: http://screencast.com/t/PWiPXVPhL

This was just a basic example. I used a basic custom post type which didn’t required any customizations in order to be displayed in theme’s blocks. However depending by post type implementation you may need additional customizations such that your post types to be displayed fine by the theme in its blocks.

the above coding is relatively easy to implement in theory, just not sure WHERE best to hook that stuff, since the Javascript has that pesky <div> in front of it; and don’t want the code loading on ALL pages or home page, or archives, only on POSTS.

The plugin that is in the WordPress repository has some issues, and I haven’t seen any major sites using that. For example IMDB is using the direct code from FB, and “works” if placed in the right spots.

We were using the lazy load Disqus alternative plugin, but again — Disqus has started to have issues as of Jan 1, so time to consider something different.

FB has become a juggernaut, without a doubt and can no longer be derided as waste of time quite so much as before. For some folks it’s become their only website for their company, the groups have almost killed a number of forums and yahoo groups, and it’s undeniably the #2 daily destination on the web outside of Google.

So, as much as I’ve hated the idea, it seems time to bow down and at least try it out for a bit and see what happens.
