But quick overview…. FB has their own generated code you can implement, which can be responsive and this method basically replaces their old defunct WP plugin for FB comments.

You use the “configurator” to specify a website, and width such as “100%” for responsive divs.

Assuming your site is already setup for ‘apps’ in your FB developer/user account, you would on above page click the ‘get code’ and then it will ask you to assign to one of your sites (if more than one), and you have a block of code to use with a WP theme.

Block ONE, looks like this and would go after the body tag on POST template:

then block two would either replace the comments box includes file, or simply be pasted into the template for the post, after post loop, after author box

Only trick is when you do the form, then get code, it will say “item not public, make public on your app menu” then trick there is to put in email, namespace (sitename all lower case), domain for app. Then click to make public. Going back to the configurator doesn’t make a new app, you’re still making just the ONE app for your site you specify; you can’t make 2 accidentally!

If you are using Elegant Theme’s something seems to always break on every major WordPress update :P.

To load a different banner for a specific page you can add a condition in the file corresponding with the header style used. For example if you’re using header style 7 the file that must bee edited is header-style-7.php and the code should look like here: http://screencast.com/t/ryRhn07c25

Replace the page-id with the numeric id of the page where you want to load a different ad. To get the page id follow this link: http://screencast.com/t/9V7zgx6WK
I used custom ad 1 in this example but you can use any of the custom ads, just update the number from shortcode. Ex: for custom ad 4 the shortcode will be [td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_4"]

Hi

The theme uses thumbs to reduce the page size and speed up page loading time. From each image uploaded are generated thumbs for each thumb size used by the theme. Basically when a post it’s displayed on the page in a block, the featured image displayed is not the one which you uploaded in media file, it’s a thumb cropped from the original image at precise dimension.
You can see where each thumb it’s used in theme panel > thumbs on module & blocks: http://screencast.com/t/6ny0JTMsR For example this thumb: 300 X 160 it’s used for modules 1,2 and blocks 3,4. If you’re nut using those modules or blocks on your site then this thumb can be deactivated. This is not about the FB likes.
What I’m saying here is that if for example an user comes from a Facebook post directly to the post in the Newspaper theme, the view post it’s not counted at first. Then if you hit refresh it will increment the views count.
The same thing it happens if you enter the site, go to the post. You have to hit refresh to increment.

Unfortunately that code is not “smart” enough since it does not account for images that have proper 16:9 layouts. I am sort of in a transitional phase here and with 110 posts it will take a while to have a decent featured image for everything. Especially now that I found out I cannot use rectangular images :(.

I’m trying to upgrade to Newspaper 6.6.5 from Newspaper 4.6.1.
I have problems with the shortcodes, I thought the update script would replace all old shortcodes in my posts with the new ones but that didn’t happen?
For example td_block7 this shortcode is an old one and isn’t replaced in any of my 200 posts.

How can I fix this?

In order to display some informations about post’s author that must be registered in database as a user. This is the WordPress functionality in this regard and cannot be changed easily.
You can add the authors as users in your WordPress database and use a plugin to limit their’s roles and capabilities. For example you can allow authors to only write and publish posts.
