Site Speed test results: Pagespeed Insight

Hi,

I’m trying to improve the speed of the site, my mobile speed results are currently only 40/100
I’ve got Gzip on, I’m running Total Cache, I’ve compressed all images with EWWW

I have tried the TagDIV speed booster plugin with the steps outlined on this page

However, the list it produced didn’t seem to correlate with the actual page insight results (with the exception of a couple)

I’m wondering are able to provide a list of corresponding id’s for some of the above that I can try adding to the td-speed-booster.php file or should I just take every ID from the list and paste them into the speed-booster.php?

Any suggestions you can make would be greatly appreciated, I was considering trying Better Wordppress Minify Not sure is it’s compatible with the theme or not?

I have a feature request. Please implement a gallery based on the attachment page. It would generate more page views and more ad views. There are some good examples out there and I think it would be a nice feature for many of us.

About the ads management:

2. There’s a problem with your ads manager, for the ads in articles, you can access this url:

I used the “article top ad” with a 336x280px ads, and is appearing a horizontal ads. And in “article bottom ads” I used a responsive ads.

In the homepage I used:

– a 728x90px in custom_ad_1 after the header block named “em destaque” and a responsive ads in custom_ad_2 after the block named “preparacao”.

As you can see doesnt matter the size of the ads blocks, your theme have own sizes in specific locations. I dont know why this is happening, I tried to desactive all plugins (except visual composer) I verified another site with the same theme, and it is working fine (like hxxp://sensacionalista.com.br).

9. How can I create “sliding sidebar blocks” like in the demo of newsmag? Note that I want to use this functionality with the sidebar blocks created in visual composer, not with the widgets.

10. About the size of the cover images for the articles. I tried to use the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails, but without sucess with your theme.

What I can do to adjust a better view to the images in each type of visualization that you theme offer? For example, for the same posts your theme use diferent sizes for the homepage and for the page of the categories.

As you can see the same post “O Que Faz um Analista Tributário da Receita Federal?” with the cropped image in the page of category:

Hide text on homepage after the "read-more" - reply

Hi Alin, thank you again.

I don’t want to activate the “Read-more” button. It’s fine the way it is.

What I want is to enable the “Read-more” shortcode.

For example:

Article text, lorem ipsum sit dolor.
<!–more–>
Rest of text

I want my homepage to just show the text: “Article text, lorem ipsum sit dolor.” and the rest of the post should show everything. Did you understood? Sorry for my English. I want to enable the <!–more–> shortcode, it just doesn’t work. Your theme complete ignores it and always shows all the text on the homepage until the “Excerpt” limit.

Filter Visual Composer pages from search - reply

You can set the post type you want to use on search query and add just tho ones you want to filter.

Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option for this, you will need custom modification to achieve that.

Hello guys!

My problem is not with your theme, wich is amazing and I’m proud of using it, but with the ads.

I’ve tried a lot of solutions and your help is my last hope.

I work with a company for a few months with another website, wich is not wordpress builted and the ads works perfectly well. But we are having problems with the ads on the site that I’ve created with your theme. According to them, the ads are shown on the site but they are rejected by the advertisers. Our opinion is that, somehow, the codes the company gave to me are not identifing correctly the site. There is also the bots question, but we have 3 different protections against bots: a wordpress plugin, clouflare and a robots.txt.

@OnlineThemes Try it again and be sure to follow the instructions carefully. 1.7 is the latest version (and the version that introduced lazy loading) and it works perfect on 1.7. Tested &amp; verified.

User error, conflicts caused by additional custom modifications, and other unrelated code/theme errors are the options for why this didn’t work.

Chris posted this in the Pagespeed topic:

“Open style.css in a text editor, such as TextPad on Windows, BBEdit on Mac, or other pure “text editor” – notepad on windows works (NOT WordPad!!)

Go to http://cssminifier.com/

1) in your text editor, select all in the style.css file (CNTRL+A), and copy (right click copy, or CTRL+C)
2) paste into the left box on above website (right click paste or CTRL+V), click minify
3) copy all from right box
4) paste back into your style.css file on top (over/replace) — it should now look line one long string of code, not all the line breaks. This is what “minification” does; it removes spaces and line breaks (returns).

Optionally, make new text file called style.css and upload over the original (assuming you’ve made a backup). With a good text editor, you can also save with proper line breaks (for Unix servers, for example you should save stuff with “unix line breaks” and not “windows line breaks”) — hence something like TextPad 5 or BBEdit are good choices for this kind of stuff. Other freeware “programmer editor” software works, too.

This is how you manually minify the main style.css file. Must be done after every theme update; but literally takes less than 5 minutes.

You would need to replace the original style.css file either via FTP, or using a file manager in your hosting panel.”

I have 2 questions:
1. Will this also work for Newspaper (the entire pagespeed post?)
2. It says you need to replace the original style.css file – can I just replace the minification in the editor in wordpress?

1. I dont know if is I or you that didnt understand, I want the show 3 figures in the header (just occurs to my homepage) when I click in a specific category, for example to:

You can see that my categories have 5 images in the header (like in the default version, not the tech version).

4. I´m facing problems with the adsense implementation in the middle of homepage.

I did many tests, I created 728×90 ads block and a responsive block, the 728×90 I put in the custom_ads1, after the posts of the category “notícias” as you can see in my homepage, and after the category “preparação” (above the latest articles) I put a responsive ads.

For both, the size appears responsive. And by this way I can conclude that isn’t a problem with the adsense code. So why it appeared responsive? I want to use 728×90 ads like appears in the newspaper theme.

6. How can I remove the “latest articles” from homepage and bring the widget “stay connected” to the top of the sidebar? I don’t know how to decrease the distance between the sidebar blocks of the visual composer and the blocks created in the widget section.

7. In the visual composer blocks, like I did to the category “notices” (notícias) in the top of my site, how can I put buttons to show next and previous notices? Like in this site hxxp://sensacionalista.com.br

One minor issue. I was using a plugin Media Credit for image credits. When I disable the plugin (or don’t use credit for in-house image), the dig tag is not attached to those image and they are no more working since you gave me code for ‘media-credit-container’

What should I use instead of ‘media-credit-container’ if not using that plugin?

Jetpack plugin – Which features? - topic

Hi,

I just bought the Newspaper theme, and installed it on my site I’ve never used the Jetpack plugin before, but as it was recommended, I installed it.

There seems to be a ton of features to choose from, my only interest is making the site as fast as possible. It seems like some would override the existing theme features like “mobile theme” for example.

So far I’ve just activated “Photon”, I wonder if maybe you could recommend which others I should activate, and which to avoid?

I’m not sure what you mean. You can set your header style from Theme Panel > Header section – http://screencast.com/t/rvoX3sQJlZpO and you can set a menu from Settings – http://screencast.com/t/UGegvCnqnR

In our demo each stak is an example of a website so you cannot use different headers and menus on different page without custom modification – if this is what you mean, the theme doesn’t have an option for this. Unfortunately we cannot provide custom work as we work hard on development, updates and support.

Hello Emil, thanks for your last answer, I have more some doubts and I would be very grateful if you can help me:

1. You didn’t explained how to change the categories with this shortcode in your last answer, how can I do it? I believe is because of that when I click in the url of the category appears to me another layout in the header (5 images in the header not 3), I have to corret this problem too.

2. I´m having problems with the pagination of the homepage, for example when I click to go to the page 2 or 3 appears to me a 404 error.

3. When I build a new post, and select a featured image for the cover of that post, the image appears large in the top of the post, how can I disable this last functionality?

4. How can I put responsive blocks of adsense in the home page (as in the newspaper theme), I want to use the adsense in the header, and more 2 blocks between the content of the homepage.

5. How can I erase the texts “acessories / what´s news / windows phone etc”? (I didnt have this categories in my wp-admin)

6. My blog have 3 categories, how can I show these 3 categories in the homepage as in the image below:

in this case the categories of this image are “entretenimento” (entertainment) and “país” (country).

Hi,

sorry for confusion,

i am trying to load the rss feeds on my mobile app but when i use the rss url for loading the category

for eg if i use url : http://www.yourdomain.com/category/category-name/?feed=rss

or http://www.example.com/?cat=42,43&feed=rss2

and it works but it only loads 1st page of the post while my category has 3 pages of posts so if i want to load all the pages which link should i go for ?
