@Marius I updated plugins and theme to latest version 3.0 and still social counter crashes with twitter on local server. However, works OK on web server.
Local server: windows 8.1, wamp server 2.4
Web server: hostgator hatchling package
It somehow crashes something on a local server running on windows.
If you want me to send you all source code and passwords give me an email address.
BTW. Check how I transformed the slide, with thumbnails. visual composer is amazing!
take the code for your theme if you want. For free.

ok,
so by upgrading to a VPS with the settings you recommend, the warnings for Slider Revolution will magically disappear?
As I mentioned by disabling rev slider i’ll jump to 100/100. But then my menu is no longer working. It seems to be enabled on the demo site and I’ve followed the other advice.
These are the only warnings I get now:
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
http://creactivate.no/…punch.plugins.min.js?rev=4.1.4&ver=3.8.1
http://creactivate.no/…ch.revolution.min.js?rev=4.1.4&ver=3.8.1
I have minified CSS and JS
Optimized Images
Using speed booster
Using W3 Cache

Well, I can’t give you an example since I reverted back to 2.x. I have a bunch of authors that write articles and I couldn’t leave the site to 3.0 until you guys fixed it. Once I upgrade to 3.0 again, I’ll be happy to provide you with a link.
Also Radu, is it possible that after you guys reupload the fixed theme, to tell us which were the fixed modifications? I already customized my 3.0 theme last night (there were some things incompatible with 2.x and I had to redo them) and I hate to do that again..it’s easier for me to add the code or reupload certain fixed files.
Thanks!
Hello,
the two most serious bug are fixed now and I will update the theme on themeforest in a couple of hours after we finish testing.
I too think it would be nice to have a beta group/program or early access to the latest theme code but we don’t have the logistics for this yet.
1. The first bug (speed booster) – was because our deploy script did not include two new javascript files in the theme (the minimize ones). All of our testing with the speed booster plugin took place with our local version of the theme, not the final deploy broken version. (From now on we will test all things on the final deploy version)
2. the second bug with the authors that are not admin was due to a missing en queue for the wordpress color picker. For some reason it is not automatically loaded when a user is not admin. (All of our test users where admins 😐 )
@vexx can you give me a sample url? It is happening also on our demo? What browser?
Thanks for the feedback
And if in case this can’t be fixed is it possible in Module 2 for example to be shown the category of the post?
hi,
facebook shows different photo, description and title from articles when its shared.
for example: http://www.uesmag.com/u-studiju-sa-zarkoffom
Hello,
When you add the logo in menu, that create a menu in item, you have to take the selector of that item and use it instead of .menu-item-525 number
I show you an example with your logo:
1. I’ve added the logo in menu with img http://screencast.com/t/klXNT9666Z2
2. Go to you site and see the logo, click to inspect it with firefox or chrome inspector and see what ID have in menu(in my case have 4224 http://screencast.com/t/I0BexzmDd
3. Add this CSS in style.css, don’t forget to replace the ID with yours.
.menu-item-4224 {
display: none;
}
.affix .menu-item-4224 {
display: block;
}
4. Results: http://screencast.com/t/VhdRQuH4cy
Hope this help!
Thanks for the message!
Great works , just update a minute ago.
Anyway, seem old booster plugin has problem with V3.
It’s cause some minor errors such as big slide , header ad sense & search tool.
I’ll try to update new booster plugin.
I see how to remove the comment and add the author link for modules in meta, but I can not seem to find a way to add the author link in the meta below the title in single post view.
Here is a rough screenshot I drew up as an example:
http://awesomescreenshot.com/00c2ajog08
Any suggestions on how this can be accomplished?
Hi
I have some questions about the review component.
1 – if I wanted to use points, is there a way to have 5 as the maximum instead of 10?
2 – if I wanted to use Stars, is there a way to have half stars?
3 – is there a way to position the review section on the page?
4 – is there a way to only have the description and a final score instead of adding individual scores?
5 – on the main page, once I add a review score to a post, I get a series of 5 stars appearing under the post name. Where is this coming from as a) I don’t want it, and b) the stars don’t match the score anyway. For example, I score something 8 our of 10, why does it show as X number of stars?
My site URL is : http://connecteddigitalhome.com/
many thanks
Andrew
Until now, our errorlog has been 99% clean and the average load on our server 0.4
Today, after upgrading to v3 (and no other changes neither i traffic nor in the site itself):
1. We start seeing a lot of errorlog
2. Server load raise to average 1.4 (more than 3x normal)
How come – is v3 not ready for live use yet?

Hi,
Alert:
After the upgrade theme (Newspaper 3.0)
Problem with “WP Image Borders” plugin.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare mw_enqueue_color_picker() (previously declared in /home1/fksanet/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/wp-admin/panel/td_panel_start.php:44) in /home1/fksanet/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-image-borders/wp-image-borders.php on line 251
Thanks for the upgrade
Hello all … (copied from another post in forum by myself)
Don’t know if this helps … but one trick I did once upon a time was go into the WP media settings and set the “large thumbnail” size to the desired new size, for this example 745×483 size, then use the regenerate thumbnails plugin to generate those sizes. This gets you past the first hurdle of actually having images set to the correct size from either featured image or the first image in post.
Does anyone know how we can add a Facebook Gallery or Photos like this,
here is the link of the example:
scroll down to the bottom, there you can see the Photos, which are directly connected to FB with all social features.
Thanks for any advice,

Hello There.
I’m experiencing problems with the featured video box. Whenever I write the url for a video in youtube, in some posts it shows and in some other it doesn’t . There’s no specific reason to know why it behaves this way in some cases but not in other ones.
I have reviewed several times if the url was ok. And yes, it is. In fact, sometimes, the admin is unable to show a pic even when you assign the post with the format “Video”. I have to select first Galery, to get a thumbnail, and then change it into Video again, to get the thumbnail in the main page later.
However, as I mentioned before, sometimes even doing this, when you place an URL in the featured video box, the post is unable to show anything.
Could you please tell me why this thing happens and how to solve it?
Beside this problem I found another issue with Facebook social counter. If I place here the full url, for example: “https://www.facebook.com/ANYTHING, the theme automatically assigns it another https:// to the url. So the final url results http://www.facebook.com/http://www.facebook.com…..
However if I write the url without the https://www.facebook.com/… the theme is unable to find it.
Could you please have a look on this?
Marius,
Firstly – thank you for your initial response.
However, it hasn’t really shed much light on anything, other than what I already knew from my testing.
So, I’ll hopefully go more in-depth and hopefully get a bit more info from yourself. I am usually pretty good at edits, but as the theme is quite complicated, I don’t wish to break anything 🙂
So firstly.
The headerbg Gradient – Where do I put the code for this?
The social Icons – I want them where the Ad Iframe is, so like this example.

Secondly, If I set the BG as a color for the Categories, it maintains the full-width header. If I set it to an image, it makes it boxed. I don’t want this, I want a full width header still!!!
Example with BG color set

The theme was quite expensive, so I was hoping for some good support! 😀
Thanks,
The get_author_box() function is what Newspaper uses to display Author info on the front end. This function takes a single user ID and generates everything from that. After a quick glance at the code it looks like what needs to be done is to convert the output of the Co-Authors plugin to an array of IDs so that we can iterate over it to get the get_author_box() function to create the boxes using the Author IDs:
First, you would need something like this(assuming you have the Co-Authors Plus plugin installed) in the functions.php:
if(function_exists('coauthors')){
$coauthor_names = coauthors( null, null, null, null, false );
$user_ids = array();
function coauthor_names_to_ids(){
$names = explode(' ', $coauthor_names);
foreach($names as $name){
// We would probably need to add another function here to make sure that the $name matches any one of our authors slugs and then if $name == 'author-slug' then we could procede to get the ID and add it to the $user_IDs array so that we only have an array of valid IDs.
$user = get_user_by( 'slug', wptexturixe($name));
$user_ids[] .= $user->ID;
}
return $user_ids;
}
coauthor_names_to_ids();
}
And then all you would have to do get them to appear on the front end (in td_module_1 for example) is something like this:
//Iterates through the user ids
foreach($user_ids as $coauthor_id){
//creates an author box for each of the coauthor ids
$buffy .= get_author_box($coauthor_id);
}
I haven’t debugged this code, some work would probably need to be done to make sure the exploded $names array matches slugs properly but it appears to be one way to tackle the problem. Another would be to modify the Co-Authors plugin to be able to return the co-author IDs as well as links. I suppose you could also modify the get_author_box() function to accept the author name as an argument…

Hi guys,
First of all – great theme. I’m having lots of fun with it, and it’s nearly how I’d like it. I’m trying to replicate an official site as much as possible.
The site I am trying to replicate is
http://www.titanfall.com/game-info
My site is
http://www.titanfallgamer.com/
As you can see, using the BG slide I have been able to replicate it fairly well. There are a few design choices that have been made with this theme that do puzzle me however, and I am hoping some people can assist me (Be it Official or experts) to get the site more to my liking.
Here is what I am looking to achieve

As you’ll see, I’ve marked the example areas which I will match below.
Example 1. I want a BG around the site, whilst using the BG Slide. The white below it is too plain. How can I achieve this? I’d also like to add a drop shadow to the BG slide to show it as if it is layered above the lower section of the page.
Example 2. I would like to set a slight gradient to the header-bg. Although I can change the color, I cannot set a gradient. If I was to make one, how should the code look?
Example 3. I’d like to re-locate the Social icons here. I don’t wish to use an ad header. Can this be done?
And finally….When I set a BG image for the categories, it stops the menu / header being full width (Like example 2) – If I set the BG as a color, it maintains the full width of the header. I’d like it to do this with a BG attached. What code do I need to change?
I hope you guys can help!
Thanks!
I am trying to integrate this plugin into our site (following these instructions), but having trouble identifying where & how to integrate the template tags.
I think it needs to get added to this code from td_module:
$buffy .= '<span class="td-block-author">';
$buffy .= __td('by', TD_THEME_NAME);
$buffy .= ' ';
$buffy .= '<a itemprop="author" href="' . get_author_posts_url($this->post->post_author) . '">' . get_the_author_meta('display_name', $this->post->post_author) . '</a>' ;
$buffy .= ' - ';
$buffy .= '</span>';
But I can’t figure out exactly what to add. Can you help get me going in the right direction?
Our site is here: http://seattleglobalist.com
And here’s an example of a post with two authors (though they don’t display on the front end currently): http://www.seattleglobalist.com/2013/12/30/an-elusive-japanese-new-years-treat-returns-to-seattle/18592
Hmm. Just for fun I took a peek at your source code…
The image being called in your source code is as so:
<img alt='' src='http://0.gravatar.com/avatar/abf051490d0c32a77ab8a253ddd26a0f?s=106&d=http%3A%2F%2F0.gravatar.com%2Favatar%2Fad516503a11cd5ca435acc9bb6523536%3Fs%3D106&r=G' class='avatar avatar-106 photo' height='106' width='106' />
Laoding that image in a web browser works fine simply as
http://0.gravatar.com/avatar/abf051490d0c32a77ab8a253ddd26a0f?s=106&d=http%3A%2F%2F0.gravatar.com%2Favatar%2Fad516503a11cd5ca435acc9bb6523536%3Fs%3D106&r=G
So, the image not showing may be a restriction that Gravatar is having on your domain/location, or something is breaking that in the browser, possibly another plugin or code which is causing that element to not render. The theme does appear to be inserting the correct code there. So, not sure what is up with that.
It *does* work, as with my page here: http://ga-ga.com/author/csimmons/

Hi,
I think a VPS would be overkill unless you are making a living from your blog or intend to host multiple blogs and want “total control” of your environment. Nice to have “room” to try different themes, sites, domains, etc., without having to sign up for a “domain based” account someplace. If you do choose a host, look for one that supports mod_pagespeed and also knows what wordpress is 😉
For a CDN, likely not needed unless the host is terribly slow (for example, a slow $5/month hosting plan plus $1/month CDN can be cheaper than $10/month plan, in theory).
For us, a CDN is useful as folks in NY or Canada can get stuff loaded faster when we’re in Calif., and servers are in Texas. It does seem to help as the CSS/JS/images all load from closest “edge” location. Again, usually more necessary for a business case than a blog case (my magazine sites don’t make any money really; they’re a bit of a hobby side thing from our main company business which does rely on high “availability” hence the fun I am personally having right now optimizing shtml/ssi pages in one place and WordPress everywhere else … each need different tweaks… ).
Obviously a host with “point of presence” in Norway is best choice. You don’t want to be loading pages from Texas when your audience is in Norway. I have not used BlueHost. We use SoftLayer to have a full server here in U.S., but that’s totally different from what you need.
Hello,
comment this line: http://screencast.com/t/FyF29WzKXHm9
can you send me via email a sample of 404s? The theme should not do that. the 404s will help me see where the problem is.
Radu form tagDiv
Hello,
No, just replace all files via FTP.
we have here a video tutorial example: http://import.tagdiv.com/newspaper/doc/#howtoupdate
Thanks!
