Hello,
This can only be done by setting that code in the respective templates, for example, a css only for articles can be set in a single post template in raw css and the js code can be set n raw html element – https://i.imgur.com/hCm6o9V.png and this can be done each cloud template in part, but the elements need to be set in the content element and not in the header or footer.
Thank you!

Hi,

Do you use the mobile theme and have this option set -> https://i.imgur.com/XIGSvl8.png or do you have only the amp plugin activated?

Thank you!

Hi chrisfoxatx,

1. For the size of the images you have, you have perfectly selected the thumbs to use – https://i.imgur.com/UM6OgFa.png They work like this after they are activated in the theme panel, these thumbs are created for each image that is loaded in the media, now the problem is with the ones that are already loaded, for these, you have to use a regeneration plugin that should resolve the problem with the retina resolution.
Normally when you select that thumb, for example, 696×0, the thumb with the size 696xauto and retina size will be used instead of the original image.

2. You should use the retina option for all 3 sizes of thumbs you use, this way you will get the best result on both windows and retina (don’t forget to regenerate the images if these options were not selected from the beginning, i.e. before adding the images to the media, and when regenerating select delete all thumbs and regenerate new ones).

3. When you edit the flex element with tagDiv Composer you have the option to select the size of the thumb, as a suggestion I recommended using a middle size because it cannot be adjusted per viewport, it can only be changed if you use the mobile page template.
Also, if the retina thumb is selected in the theme panel and the image has been regenerated, when you select, for example, the 696×0 thumb on windows, the retina thumb corresponding to the 696×0 thumb will be automatically used when a retina device is used.

4. Unfortunately here I can not suggest the best of all with the theme, but a plugin that is ok with the theme is EWWW Image Optimizer , but I have seen many users who also use Smush and Imagify.

I hope this will help you!
Thank you!

Hi,

We usually recommend for this to use an SEO plugin that will add og:image and other elements to the theme. For example, you can try the steps from this guide -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/facebook-share/
Also, you can check your website links using this tool -> https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator
-> https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

Thank you!

Hello @anamaria, thanks for your help.

The video thumbnails are not being displayed even if I disable Lite Speed cache.

I don’t wish to delete any cache file, as I guess these files are essential for speed.

Perhaps you could have a closer look at the code, let’s take this index for example : https://econoflash.com/category/definitions-economiques-simplifiees/lexique-economique/; as you can see one video thumbnail can be displayed, the other can’t.

There is surely a reason to this, any idea ?

Thanks in advanced.

muslimskeptic.com is the affected website.

I checked the statistics and do see the increase in CPU seconds usage compared to the script executions and after checking through the access logs with live traffic, I noticed that the current theme of the website is generating spontaneous bursts of requests towards the admin-ajax.php script specifically on the home page of the website from various visitors and this immediately spikes the CPU and RAM usage of the server, here is one example from a few minutes ago of such a burst with 20 requests within a couple of seconds:

https://snipboard.io/yCvqfw.jpg

While all of these requests are being processed by the server, other ones get queued for execution, which leads to database queries that generally run in parts of a second to run for several seconds instead and resulting in the very regular slow loading of the website.

I tried looking around the web for a similar problem, however I could not find any additional information and this is likely some bug with the theme version and I would recommend checking this with the theme developers and how these requests can be controlled to avoid such bursts that use up the server resources. I tried to switch the theme version from 12.4 to 12.3.1 but there was no change. There are no conflicts with plugin too. I tried turning on cache as well for each block on tagdiv composer.

Please refer me to the technical team as soon as possible.

Thought I might share the main website having issues: https://thevalley.life/

And an example post with the error it is presenting:
https://thevalley.life/livestream-of-2023-rowell-ranch-rodeo-parade/

Some magazines offer the possibility to register as a subscriber with your own account (password and name). In his account, the subscriber can then, for example, see his exact subscription, his invoices and perhaps ask personal questions to the editors.

Similar to when I create an account at Ebay, Amazon, 20min Newspaper or Basler Newspaper online.

CSS and JS code that I’ve written is currently loaded sitewide.

However, styling for articles should not be loaded on the homepage,
likewise, JS functionality for the home and category pages is not needed on article (single) pages.

How to have certain CSS / JS code load only on some templates, but not others?

Highly optimized and clean responsive design theme gets me 84 on Google PageSpeed mobile, but Speed Index (4.7s) and LCP (3.6s) is not good.

I can’t get find a way to reduce the unused (theme?) CSS/Javascript (1.2s) so I’m trying to optimize these:

1) Defer offscreen images 0.35s on <div class=”td-menu-background” style=”visibility:hidden”>
This is the background menu/search image on the mobile viewport:

Lazy Load settings/plugins for some reason won’t defer it.
How to defer it?

2) Efficiently encode images 0.25s on <div class=”tdb-featured-image-bg”>
The featured image is shows full desktop size on the mobile viewport:

On a desktop I show the 1920×0 version, retina quality for devices that support it.
The mobile viewport is showing the same big size, not a smaller version.

How to fix this? Maintaining separate mobile/stale AMP templates is not cost-effective/productive for most of us.

That doesn’t seem to be working. (https://journal.houselore.com/journal-places-2/?tdb_tax_places_location=england&tdb_tax_property_features=open-to-the-public,haunted). Here I am choosing 2 Property Features, and only Sample Post 2 matches both filters, but the results are showing Sample Post 1 as well.

Greetings
using a CSS code, is it possible to remove this down arrow? I wish it would disappear completely.
What string of css code should I put in the custom code?
I use the standard theme and don’t want to change it. Style is number 7.

Hi!
Could you please help me with the CLS issue.

I use DEFAULT SITE POST TEMPLATE for posts.

The CLS on the posts with Feature image – 0.17 and Google indicates this by red sign.

1. For example the article with the Feature image – Cumulative Layout Shift 0.172
https://www.avianews.com/world/2023/05/25/lufthansa_discount_on_meal/

2. In the another article I deleted the Feature image and published this image inside the text
https://www.avianews.com/world/2023/05/25/france_banned_domestic_flights/
As the result – Cumulative Layout Shift -0 and green light from Google.

3. I use https://pagespeed.web.dev/ for testing

How is possible to resolve this issue?

Prateek

I have it already disabled. And even if it was ON it will redirect to the amp as it says “mobile to amp.”

But in my post, I wrote that amp gets redirected to non-amp when I refresh the page. The option you mentioned does the opposite.

Hi Team and Community,

I am utterly confused about the image sizes and best practices. I’ve read ALL of the documentation and links on TagDiv, so please don’t simply refer me to a broad link, as some things aren’t clear to us as customers.

I hope this thread will be useful to a lot of people struggling with this:

Site layout (max width):
– Row stretch up to 1400px

Home page:
– Headlines: 3 images in 3 columns , roughly 1400/3 so width 450px [900px on Retina]

Article page
– Featured image: width 1080px [2160px Retina]
– Sidebar (related): 3 images floated vertically, width 320px [640px on Retina]
– Bottom bar (popular): 4 images floated horizontally, so roughly 1400/4 = width 350px [700px on Retina]

I work on a Mac, and having good image quality is important, so images should be served as x2 resolution (Retina) on devices that support it.

Based on this I have selected these thumbnails in the Theme Settings:

a) Headlines (>450px) => 696×0 + Retina
b) Featured image (>1080px) => 1920×0 + Retina
c) Sidebar related (>320px) => 696×0 + Retina
d) Bottom bar popular (>350px) => 696×0 + Retina

I noticed some images were not sharp, and I briefly installed Jetpack Boost to check why that was.
It gave me warnings that the images shown on my Retina screen were not big enough.

All of the images that I upload are 1920px wide, so it has enough pixel data to work with.

We are using responsive design, not AMP because AMP almost completely removes recognizable branding and it’s a hassle to create 2 versions of each page, instead of a simple responsive layout.

So 4 questions:

1) What happens exactly when we select, for example, the thumbnail 696×0 + Retina?

In our case of a) Headlines, the image shown on the display should be 450px on old displays, and 900px on retina displays.

So should I select 696×0 or should I select a 1068×0 (bigger than the retina resolution)?

2) What about case d). I need at least 350px on old displays, and roughly 700px on retina displays.
696×0 is only 4 pixels short of 700px. What should I select? in TagDiv Composer as width, and should I for that resolution enable [] Retina as well or not in the Theme Panel?

These 2 questions are most important first. If we don’t know how resolution is handled by the theme, then all attempts to optimize the page for speed breaks down from there.

3) It seems that we cannot set different resolutions per device type in Flex Block. How can we make sure that smaller devices don’t load images that are 4x bigger?

4) I’ve been testing different plugins, with mixed results in terms of Google PageSpeed Index scores.
Which image optimization plugins have been tested and give the best results with NewsPaper theme, preferably that does all of what it needs to do in the background.

Any other suggestions that can be helpful?

Hello @danapradana49!

If you set in the theme panel, then it won’t display on the cloud pro template. You need to edit the homepage for example with the TagDiv Composer.

Thank you!

Hi,

Please set it only to /?amp=1 clear the cache and check after.

Hi,

Using our theme you can choose from 3 mobile versions
-> mobile responsive => https://www.screencast.com/t/oJ2ShOp47
-> mobile theme plugin => https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
-> mobile page => https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/
If you created the mobile pages with tagDiv Composer, then when you install the Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin (the mobile theme comes with its templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout, the page content is made without builders in mobile editor => https://www.screencast.com/t/xbgZG8kH also, the options that are provided to edit the mobile theme version are limited (this keeps the things simple)).
This is a video about Responsive Newspaper Theme, AMP & Mobile Theme, Mobile Pages & Templates -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY
So, the mobile responsive is what you see then that you select the viewport on phone => https://www.screencast.com/t/matV17hH, so some settings may apply for each viewport(where is the border blue), and others are not(where the border is black).
The mobile page has the mobile templates from Cloud Library => https://www.screencast.com/t/YCcZ8rL8
Mobile responsive version of the theme and the mobile page editor can be edit with tagDiv Composer, the mobile theme plugin not.
For example, you can have the mobile theme plugin activate and use the mobile page/mobile responsive version for the homepage/pages, but for the categories pages/404 page you can’t use the mobile page/mobile responsive version if you have the mobile theme plugin activate.
So, if you want to design the pages with tagDiv Composer, you can use the mobile page or mobile responsive version.

Thank you!

Hi! Can I customize the front page if I activate tagDiv Mobile Theme plugin?

For example, I need 5 articles from one section, then 4 articles from another section.

Now I see that only the option Latest articles is available for the front page with tagDiv Mobile Theme plugin.

Is there any way to create an ‘and’ function? For example on this page (https://journal.houselore.com/journal-places-2/) if someone chooses two different Property Features, then only posts which have been tagged with both appear?

Just as the topic title says . .

Wondering if there is a way to easily add the PDF or a screenshot of the PDF to Newspaper theme – so that the ad has seo, is findable/shareable via the site?

Any examples of what people have done?
