I have installed the theme on my domain http://www.travelisfun.de
But I am wondering, how the start-page is built? Here my questions:
1. How can i change the big picture ?
2. What are the templates? For example: pagebuilder + latest articles + pagination

3. Why is it not possible to enable the Frontend Editor
4. What is the so called “Block 5” ?

I have a staging server that only I have access to. I did the following:
– Added Big Grid 3 with Popular (last 7 days)
– Enabled Post Views at Post Settings > Post and Custom Post Types > Show Post Views
– Enabled “Use 7 days post sorting” at Block Settings > 7 days post sorting
– No caching is enabled
I load an article and refresh the page in order to increase the view count. At no point does this article show in the Big Grid 3 despite none of the other articles being accessed.
How long should it take to populate this section? Also, is there any way to check the current 7 day count?
I’ve just purchased and installed the Newspaper theme. I’m following the video tutorial on building a home page but what I see in the backend editor of Visual Composer is not the same as the video. I should be seeing the message “Add Some Content or Use Predefined Layouts…” with a series of 20 layout thumbnails (as per https://youtu.be/ss-BEobegAw?t=43s). Instead, I see the default message from Visual Composer: “YOU HAVE BLANK PAGE. START ADDING CONTENT OR TEMPLATES” following but “Add Element”, “Add Text Block”, “Add Template”. If I click on Add Template, I get a list of the 20 templates only.

I install WP RSS Aggregator for rss feed. When a feed source imports item the thumbnails from all blocks disappeared. Also in the home page, the big grid 6 appear only one image.
Please, how shall I overtake these problems?

Im stuck on one more problem and im hoping you could help me, i been trying to fix this for awhile.
I’ve installed a ” Time ago ” plugin to display when a post was published, for example 5 seconds ago, 5 mins ago etc. Its working for all my categories except the ” HOME ” and ” News ” those 2 are displaying the publishing date of the actual page not post. So it displays ” 2 months ago ” for the entire page and overwriting the time ago plugin. How do i fix this?

I have a menu items which are based on categories. And one of the menu-item is ‘Forums’ which shows all the available forums. I haven’t created a page for it, so I guess the page is dynamically created when the menu item is clicked.
Is there any way to add a text block at the top every time to show a notice (e.g. Log-in register information etc)?

The theme does not manage the login system, that is managed by WordPress. Also it may be a problem reated with your host so you should contact him and let him know about this.

You can create a static page in visual composer for your blog and filter a single category for it. You can chose one of the content blocks for article display: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/
After you chose the block you want, you can then set it to a single category and add pagination to it from block settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/

3) In order to get the post ad above the content and the sidebar, you will need to edit the theme files and use a do_shortcode function inside the post template you want the ad to be displayed in. For example you can use a theme custom ad 1 spot and add this shortode in each of the loop files coresponding to the post styles you use:

with the update of Newsmag theme to versione 2.3.5, the modification indicated at the http://screencast.com/t/yOEz5TC7x to file Newsmag/includes/td_config.php doesn’t work anymore. Even if I’ve set the ‘show_child_cat’ to 10, theme still shows only 5 child categories as you can see at http://43b.60a.myftpupload.com/.

Hello,
Unfortunately the unique articles is not loaded for every block in particular. It is applied on the whole page and it affect modules not blocks. You can only exclude modules from it like the solution above but you cannot remove unique articles when the block is being created.

IOS Slider doesn’t appear (it doesn’t exist in the outputted HTML) when fetching from category which has only one post
i don’t know if this is a bug or it’s by-design.
It didn’t bother me much, i just added another post in the category and worked, just wanted to let you know.
For anybody feeling adventurous with code, this can be “fixed” by editing Newspaper\includes\shortcodes\td_block_slide.php inside the render function
change

i don’t know if this has any side-effects didn’t have time to test edge cases.

Unfortunately our theme does not support featured posts. You can however create a featured category and add your posts to it, then add a block in visual composer on the specific post you want it displayed. You can activate visual composer on posts from the plugin settings: http://screencast.com/t/V4d9MhrFxr
if you do not want to do this for every post in particular, you can edit the theme files and edit the specific post template you use and add a function to the file called do_shorctode. This will add a specific block you set to it on every post that uses that particular template you edit. They can be used in the child theme as well.
For example you can create your block in visual composer on a dummy page and get the shortcode for it: http://screencast.com/t/02ccgJ2Q8mN then get the shortcode for the block in classic mode/text mode
Then you can edit the post template from the files: http://screencast.com/t/FBgdVg39o

I see that every block on a page has a unique id. Can somehow the unique articles feautred be disabled when constructing a specific block? I’m pretty sure it can be done through editing theme files.

I think you are aware that the theme has no borders by default and this is a customization. This however is no easy task. You will have to edit each block in order to get the borders set properly and it will require quite a bit of time. We recommend hiring a freelancer for this customization as it is a time-consuming job and we cannot offer any custom work at the moment (not substantial anyway). We try to help out where we can, but this involves quite a bit of tuning.

The code that you provided affect only the posts displayed by the loop on category page: http://screencast.com/t/sifOdJro The posts from sidebar are displayed by a different query, depending by the widget used. If you use one of the theme’s blocks then the query is made in td_data_source.php and you can use theirs filters to sort your posts: http://screencast.com/t/gbllh8R6iu If the widget it’s from WordPress then the query is made in WordPress core.

My homepage was fine and then all of a sudden it decided to screw up and throw everything off
