Is it possible to activate more of the standard Visual Composer blocks like Accordion, Seperator, Message box, Progress Bar and Pie Chart?
I figured it out by just creating a new homepage. Now I am having problems getting my block three to display in module 7 form. Grr
After upgrading to v3, we started seeing parts of youtube scripts showing up.
So, in several modules/blocks on our http://www.livingsmarttv.dk frontpage, it now has like [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvKucqX6vOg] infron of excerpt, which we clearly should not see.
Is this a bug in v3 (no problem in v2) or do we just need to disable something?

It’s only because the theme is so great I’m pushing for KBs. I know my site is more than good enough to run as is. But no one likes red flashes on validators 😉

It’s the only error I have left on PageSpeed Insights. Currently at 80/100 mobile and 95/100 desktop.
“Your page has 2 blocking script resources and 3 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.”
All those are related to Slider Revolution, not the theme. That’s why I’m curios how you can get rid of them. Can you get these removed by adding stuff to .htaccess? Or some server setting?

So, make sure you’ve done all that. And adding the elements to your htaccess is good practice for ALL wordpress sites (all websites in general really), and the theme can’t fix issue with web hosting, caching, headers for expiration, et al.
Note also in his demo he’s not using adsense (Google Ads), recaptcha for comments, some social media hogs, or plugins that abusively insert additional not-needed CSS files in the header. SO, generally for your own speed optimization, presume to turn anything OFF which inserts bad behavior stuff (like, ironically Google’s own ad stuff much of the time).
But the page Radu has (linked above) tells you the basics of what he did to optimize the theme.

I’m working my down my list of improving my pagespeed. I’m getting closer but i noticed that the demo don’t have the same warnings. So there must be some way to improve it without doing coding 🙂
How do I insert modules 8 or 9 in the homepage? Is there any shortcode or blocks I can use?

This is common with all wordpress themes (and most websites really)… it’s not an issue with this theme.

Using the tagdiv speed booster plugin can help, as can things like caching, mod_pagespeed with hosting provider, etc. It basically “enqueues” several things to load better on pageload.

It’s a process, I can tell you. I also wouldn’t stress over it tooooo much. Worry about everything ELSE first, and leave THAT for last. Note some of the blocking errors will come from Google’s own products like AdSense.

I am trying to integrate this plugin into our site (following these instructions), but having trouble identifying where & how to integrate the template tags.

i think i figured it out.
for all who have the same issue and maybe @davistar -> so if you want to exclude X articles of the latest post:
go (via ftp) to /themes/newspaper/page-homepage-loop. there you have to edit line 130 to this:
query_posts(‘offset=4’);
in this case the first 4 articles would be excluded.

Unfortunately we don’t have full width modules / blocks yet and from my first look it seems that the theme will have to be heavily modified to support that.
To make the parallax effect we need full width support (out of the grid). I will see if we can do that.

1. Big slider work only on full width(3 columns) you can use the Homepage blank template and add the Big slider with Visual Composer.
2. Use Homepage blank or Homepage – bg – no article list and add 2/3 + 1/3 columns with page buiilder. first column 2/3 add a block like you want to display the posts and use “Load more” as setting. http://screencast.com/t/8oDdcRyAQoW and use the next columns 1/3 as sidebar, add from page builder Widgetised sidebar and select a sidebar that you want to use.
3. To add another banner you have to add it directly in code, in v3 the file is in parts folder, the files with header…php(depends what style of header do you use)
4. The space can be reduced via CSS, use inspector from Chrome or firefox and add your custom css in style.css or in V3 we have a section for custom CSS.

I’m sorry but the built in worpdress recent posts filter cannot be modified in that way easly. I think we can do that via one of our modules/blocks (but I’m not sure). Will that work for you?
