Yes! The compression level setting (from my helpful optimization guide) only impacts thumbnails created by WordPress via server imagemagick/GD libs. — it does NOT change the images you upload —

so if you upload image at 40k full size
normal thumb at smaller size, might be 10-14k
set compression higher, thumb might be 7k

No real visible difference — a thumb is just supposed to be an image “hint” to the full page/photo — not presentational anyway.

Kind of like in Photoshop, the diff. between the “10” setting and “7” setting makes the photo half the size, with no real noticeable difference (except with images that have a lot of “red” — ). Jpeg is a “lossy” compression method no matter what (hence why DVDs with low bitrates look like crap also!).

Some people prefer a setting of “60” … but I’ve found “50” works fine unless it’s a portfolio site or something. OR, images with a LOT of “red” which is the bane of jpeg compression.

Try it… set compression to “50” (or “60”) — anything better than default of “90”! Then regenerate thumbnails.

For your full size images you need to start with better compression — or, use something like smush.it (if you can get that to work), or something like mod_pagespeed which will optimize then cache for you.

Anyway, that’s been my experience.

Glad to help 🙂

One solution is to use a “lazy load” function, however this runs risk of some items not loading at all, if browser memory/cache times out.

What really sped up our use of such was using mod_pagespeed … this optimizes images including conversion to webp for Chrome, etc., caches with opcache if setup properly, etc.

And of course make sure the thumbs are highly compressed (like using the “50” setting in your functions.php vs default 90, etc.).

Better optimized images to start with helps also;
this image is 41kb and could be nearly half that, especially since B/W/greyscale:

I’m sure you know all that … just chiming in as I tend to do. 🙂

Hi,

The view counter doesn’t work well when used with cache so if you do use cache then I suggest you also enable the ajax post view count feature under post settings in theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/bf0BBbWl1Z
Please let me know if this helps and also provide your site’s url so I can have a look.

Thanks

Hi,

Please try this without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer active, also empty cache and purge your files. Check if the issue is still there and if is not please activate your plugins one by one and check which one cause the issue.
Also like Lucian said above if the jetpack photon cause issues, we haven’t tested it with the theme so it would be best to disable it.

Thanks!

Hi,

Can you provide an example so I can take a look?

I also tested this:
http://screencast.com/t/j4juktAZcVUP
http://screencast.com/t/Z45dlU3v
http://screencast.com/t/x11bgQgHfQe

Please also empty cache and see if you still have the issue.

Thanks!

Hi,

I tested this exactly with what you have there, but I was unable to recreate your issue: http://screencast.com/t/K2Kkp0xmmhttp://screencast.com/t/GyV1vddViV
Please try this without any plugin active, leave only Visual Composer and that plugin active also empty cache and see if the issue is still there. Also try to reinstall the plugin if the issue persist.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please deactivate all plugins, leave only Visual Composer active, also empty cache an try again. Maybe it is a plugin conflict.
I tested this also in playlist on post: http://screencast.com/t/cKRQBYTNthttp://screencast.com/t/WRKumtCvnKw

Thanks!

Hi,

I was unable to recreate this. Please make sure that you follow this guide to create a megamenu: https://forum.tagdiv.com/menus-newsmag/
Also please deactivate all plugins(maybe is a plugin conflict), leave only Visual Composer active, empty cache and check if the issue is still there.
If you still have this issue please provide a screenshot of megamenu settings. Let me know!

Thanks!

Might be an ajax issue (try clearing browser cache/temp file); or could be conflict in loading more than one version of jquery. Some plugins now have option to turn off loading jquery *again* if already being loaded by theme and/or WP-admin panel.

Some plugins don’t play nice with visual composer, also, it seems.

Hello,

This did not work for me and I still have this issue. There must be another piece of code somewhere overwriting td_social_counter_010.php

As Lucian and others have suggested, I changed the code to ‘url’ => “http://www.youtube.com/channel/my_own_channel_code_here”, and the Social Counter is still sending me to http://www.youtube.com/user/<channel code here” with the error “This channel does not exist”

It is a very stubborn issue. I have cleared by browser cache, used different browsers, my mobile, etc.

Please help! How can I get the social counter to work for YouTube?

(btw…I don’t think youtube assigns youtube.com/user accounts anymore, all are “channels” these days).

In our case with media upload oddities, it’s not theme related by fully WP related. I’ve seen this happen with various themes, post WP 4.0 when the oddities with media upload started. Sometimes media thing is empty, and I have to toggle back and then to media again. Almost like the browser is “timing out” on all the stupid ajax crap in the WP admin panel now.

And we have 12 core XEON server with 32GB RAM.

Clearing the web browser cache has also helped, especially on Win7/64 with IE11 if the temp folder is full for browser.

Buna,

Mersi!

hey all! I have noticed that my infinite scroll seems to not be working:

http://elevatedtoday.com

it loads more articles once but then doesn’t load any more, so it’s less of an infinite scroll and more of a 1-scroll. I thought the problem was related to W3 Total Cache, but even disabled it appears to have the same issue.

The weird part is that if you scroll down all the way, then scroll back up to the top (I.E. past the point where the infinite scrolls initially begins), then scroll down again it works normally.

Any ideas? thanks!

Hi,

Please make sure you also get this error when using just the Visual composer plugin without other plugins active, make sure you also empty cache and purge files.
If you still have it please delete the VC plugin then install it again from the /plugins folder using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Please let us know how it goes!

Thanks

Hi,

I have not managed to recreate this with the latest theme version(4.6.1). Please update your theme if you don’t use the latest version using this guide(use FTP method): https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ also update the plugins that come with the theme files. If still have this issue try this css in Theme Panel > Custom Css:

@media (max-width: 767px){
.container-fluid {
padding-left: 15px;
padding-right: 15px;
}
}

Hi Again,

So after just playing around and remembered that Jetpack has Photon CDN, I disabled this setting and there are no more double images.

How does this work and is there a fix for this?

Basically Photon just caches the images on the page, serves in and then the smart list also serves the images making it double.

Thanks

Hi,

@marc

I’ve check your site and noticed an error and some notifications in your browsers console: http://screencast.com/t/HoyC4o5or9d ..so I suggest you also try it after you disable all plugins leaving just the VC plugin active, also make sure you empty cache, purge files then test again.
If it’s still not working I suggest you contact you ad provider and let him know about this.

Yes, so you should probably go google how to manage yoru Windows Azure Cloud account — YOU are the one, bro, who mentioned that. Not sure what your azure cloud has to do with anything if that isn’t your server platform.

If running Linux – why not look at the link I provided on how to setup opcache on Ubuntu on Linux????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

AGAIN:

http://www.davidado.com/2014/09/26/how-to-set-up-nginx-with-php-5-5-and-php-fpm-on-ubuntu-14-04/

FROM THE ABOVE PAGE………..
this might not work for you, but why not try it – or contact your hosting support, or RTFM for the platform you’re using???????????????

E.g.,

# Opcache
opcache.enable=1
opcache.enable_cli=0
opcache.memory_consumption=128
opcache.interned_strings_buffer=16
opcache.max_accelerated_files=6000
opcache.max_wasted_percentage=5
opcache.use_cwd=1
opcache.validate_timestamps=1
opcache.revalidate_freq=60
opcache.revalidate_path=0
opcache.save_comments=1
opcache.load_comments=1
opcache.fast_shutdown=1

Okay – sorry — you should wait for somebody else to help as you don’t seem to know how to google stuff for support which is entirely NOT theme related.

Apologies – I will stop trying to help you on stuff.

simchris

Ah. No idea. I haven’t used Windows for hosting in over a decade — “I only use UNIX/Linux” …. so I won’t be any help on this. You would think they would have a help desk or support area with info on how to setup opcache/APC or whatever they support (if anything) … not a theme issue, obviously, but both TaGdiv folks and myself use Linux, so if in a hurry today, I’d likely go do some Google research on this issue.

Sorry no help! 🙁
