Hi,

@DoOove

I have checked your site and found this js error in your console: http://screencast.com/t/rggV9CJgb
I have also tested this and found no issue with theme’s custom background feature. In your case this may occur due to some plugins which generate this js conflict so please deactivate all plugins, empty cache and/or purge files if you use any cache/CDN plugins and check if this is still happening.
Regarding the second issue you could try to resolve it as Christopher suggested and make the desired changes to your theme style directly in the style.css file as it contains the default theme style which is loaded first and because of the cascading property of the css style appears the delay you have noticed.
Hope this helps!

Thanks

Hi,

Not sure, we haven’t had any issues with this, you could check your console for js errors and disable all plugins, empty cache and/or purge files if you use any cache and/or CDN plugins an check again.
Please note that this could due to facebook also, you could try to use this Facebook Debugger Tool to get new scrap info for your post and check if this still happens.
If nothing works please let me know and also send your site’s URL and point for a post that has this issue so we can check this.
Hope this helps!

Thanks

Hello,

I was trying to optimize page speed, and followed all of the steps at: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Following these steps:
Remove render blocking css/js – using the TagDiv Speed Boosterplugin (Advanced Users)

Question:
1. Here is my result after I add the code at the end of the functions.php file:

registered scripts

Then, when I go to look for corresponding ID’s, I only find the social-icons-widget-admin as something slowing down my site, but can’t find any of the others mentioned shown here (click link): http://livelovefruit.com/?attachment_id=7267

2. You say not to minify with W3 total cache, but on my page speed insights it says that I should minify html, minify css, and minify JavaScript. What should I do in this situation?

Thanks,
Carly

Looks like the CSS isn’t loading for your site. Be sure to possibly upload the theme via FTP to ensure all the files are actually up on the server. I personally have a lot of problems with *all* themes installing via ZIP method. FTP ensures all files are uploaded individually from your hard drive to your website. I don’t use child theme, so generally best to start with activating the MAIN version of the theme.

If using any caching — including in your web browser — you may have the old style.css “cached” and so not loading the new styles in your browser.

Hi,

I’m having several problem on my site.

After 4.5 update, i’ve notived that backgroung image was not always displayed on article pages. This can occur when going to main page and clicking on an article link (on Big Slide or Blocks). When refreshing article page, image background shows properly. I’m using Chrome, but users reported problem on Firefox also.

I’m using WP Super Cache and haven’t encountered any cache problem with it since recents theme updates.

Also, but not related to 4.5 update (problem appeared in 4.x can’t remember precisely),sometimes when loading a page, page loads for 1 or 2 sec with another style, and then current style loads properly.
See: http://www.screencast.com/t/q3CtnXoX7Z5t
this is when Style is different during few seconds, might happen on several pages, but not always.

My site:

Hi, thanks 🙂 Solved everything but not the css issue of number 5.
The custom font thing isn’t working. In the source, earlier there used to be things like:

<style>@font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "Open Sans Custom"; src: local("Open Sans Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/open.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff"); } @font-face { font-family: "RobotoSlab Custom"; src: local("RobotoSlab Custom"), url("http://gdgtarena.com/assets/fonts/roboto.woff") format("woff");</style>

but now that’s not there and therefore the fonts don’t work. If I see my site from google’s cache and add the earlier code in custom css, fonts start working. You can try it out, just add a custom font and try to use that…

and also for number 3 when I added your css it removed the menu items positioning as you told to do here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/a-problem-with-the-header-8/

Hi,

Please make sure you also remove cache and purge files if you use any cache and/or CDN plugins and also make sure you check for errors in your browser console. This could also be from the speedbooster plugin which can generate conflicts when used with other plugins and the css issue could come from the custom css added from theme panel.
Please try to deactivate the plugin or any other plugins that could generate this and empty cache and purge files.
Let me know if this helps!

Thanks

Hi,

You should check the update log: http://screencast.com/t/PYCoqAilK Make sure you remove all cache and also purge files if you use CDN and check again.
You should also go trough this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/bugs-in-4-5/

1. Like this: http://screencast.com/t/yosbiudqY
2. That is happening because of the “+” menu item which falls into another line in tablet portrait view screens. You need to adjust the menu items font size or this padding: http://screencast.com/t/o6F7Vo08UN

@media (max-width: 1018px) and (min-width: 768px) {
.sf-menu a.sf-with-ul {
padding-right: 26px !important;
}
}

You can also remove that shadow usign this css:

.td-header-style-8-wrapper.td-menu-placeholder .td-menu-background:after {
display: none;
}
..this will remove it site wide.

3. and 4. Use this to fix it: http://screencast.com/t/7UqccaxAcE0B

.td-li-wrapper-menu {
position:static !important;
}

.td-header-style-8 .td-style-8-menu-wrapper #td-top-search {
left: 0px!important;
top: 19px !important;
}

5. The css generated by theme is now saved in the database for a faster loading page from theme version 4.5

Thanks

Hi,

Please make sure you deactivate all other plugins leaving just the Visual Composer plugin active, empty cache and purge files if you use any CDN and/or cache plugins then activate the speedbooster plugin as this may not work properly with other plugins.
Please let me know what you find and also send your site’s URL.

Thanks

Hi,

Looks like the image placeholder it’s searched at the path you’ve sent http://www.wallstreetscope.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/no-img-post.png but nothing is found there: http://screencast.com/t/QMLtDpRxb6P2
I have also tested this and should work fine: http://screencast.com/t/XqTkBNeFl
First please make sure you have enabled the featured image placeholder from theme panel, like this: http://screencast.com/t/BnJrHl8RU
This is the path that the placeholder will load from: http://screencast.com/t/FkEMsNZr3 so please make sure you have no-thumb folder in the images folder within your theme files: http://screencast.com/t/KGSaxIBBX
If still you can’t see the placeholder please make sure you deactivate all plugins, empty cache and purge files if you use any cache and/or CDN plugins and check again.

Thanks

Might be due to uploading the wrong zip file — meaning, there is zip with just the theme, and there is zip with all the docs, psd file, etc. — using the ‘big’ file it won’t work. But I don’t think it gives that error.

Typically turning off all plugins when activating theme, but making sure you clear all caches, and CDN elements before activation makes the difference. I personally also usually do the ‘preview’ of a theme before activation, just to see if it’s borked or not.

Often uploading manually via FTP, is good option, too, to ensure the right files get up there and completed.

That might not help, just food for thought 🙂

I guessed you didnt use w3 cache. I’ve just improved my score up to 85 and thats with buddypress, bbpress, disqus and a load of others! Used w3 cache, speed booster pack and leverage browser caching ninja. Also use cloudflare. Made some changes to .htaccess too. But dont think i should spend any more time on speeding up as I will buy the new theme once it’s out.

Does anyone know how to speed up the following under leverage browser caching?

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js (60 minutes)
http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/osd.js (60 minutes)
http://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js (2 hours)

Hi Lucian

I found the solution. The problem was my plugin WP Rocket cache.

Thank you for your help anyway 😉

Like I just moved to super cache! Any update on that flash of unstyled content?

Shashank Shekhar

Who told that I don’t use total cache? 😛 I of course need something for page cache or static html cache, although I keep changing plugins daily. 😀

Not even W3 Total Cache! wow thats good.

i almost feel insulted from that answer. its my fault for saying i have no coding skills. u think i havent tried that, click on the link where it says to create a menu, come on… how stupid do u think i am? everything is almost done, my categories, permalinks, theme colors, fonts, social sharing added to the site… i see my menus like stated in earlier, it wont save my settings. the minute i click on another tab or come to delete my cache, it doesnt save the settings

Hi,

This errors, as you can see here: http://screencast.com/t/xlb1AqV4 come from minified js which we do not recommend.
I also stated that you disable the plugins, all of them, not update them and also empty cache and purge files. I have tested this and found no issues so this should also work in your case.

Thanks

Lucian

Hi,

Please make sure you disable all other plugins leaving just Visual Composer and the Ubermenu active then empty all cache and purge files if you use any CDN files and try again, do this just to make sure that this isn’t happening due to some other plugins which may be in conflict.
Note that we haven;t made any tests with this so I can guarantee it will work, also keep in mind that the theme has changed in the last months and may be possible that this integration will not work anymore.

Thanks

Please see the sticky post on maximizing your site for PageSpeed. You can manually minify your CSS and JS main files. Browser cache settings can be specified in htaccess file if running Apache (I posted the how to on that in the sticky category of forum).

YOu may find it useful to test one of your post pages using GTMetrix in place of Google, as it will also give you better examples of how to optimize your page, tell you what needs to be fixed, and often give you minified versions of CSS/JS files you can grab. Free.

Hi,

You can make a backup search online for a proper nginx wordpress configuration and test it. Using the nginx cache, it may be possible that the request will be cached even via ajax.
You can also follow this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/pagespeed/page/6/#post-15416
You can also get someone to optimize nginx settings for you.
Hope this helps!

Thanks

Hi,

I have checked your site and found a lot of errors in your console, most of them js errors which can cause the search issue: http://screencast.com/t/5o5xik99
You should start by deactivating all plugins, leaving just the Visual Composer plugin active, empty cache, purge files(if you use any CDN plugins) and check for this again.
Please let me know if this helps!

Thanks

Lucian

Hi,

Please make sure you deactivate all plugins and check for this again as the search works based on js and this may happen due to a plugin conflict so please make sure you deactivate the plugins, all of them, laving active just the Visual Composer plugin then empty cache, purge files and check for this again.
Please let me know if this helps!

Thanks

hi guys,

I really want to know the answer to this.

i noticed in documentation this statement:
make sure that you have APC installed or another ‘op cache’ for php. This will reduce your server response time.We have receive some reports that the accelerator has some problems in some specific configurations with our theme and Nginx.

I want to ask my server to enable but afraid something will crush.

can you let us know proper settings?

cheers!
