Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
If there are still a problem please remove the theme and reinstall the theme via FTP.
Let me know how is works!
Thank you!
If I understand you correctly what you are saying is to reinstall the theme from scratch and hope that the child theme customization you made will work.
I guess we will hold off on this upgrade and find another solution since it looks like this is not a very reliable company that we want to work with for the long haul.
If I was in your situation – I would pull back this update and redo it so that it is more manageable and addresses what your customers are telling you here as feedback.
Otherwise – it looks like a clusterfuck from about 5000 miles away.
Good luck folks.
Hi,
You can check more from this update in this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/important-new-update-newspaper-9-7/
If you are not using the child theme you can update your theme without problems, from newspaper v9.7 the child theme will support only the changes for style and function file and you can not longer use the child theme for all theme files like in previous version of theme.
But with the new features you can achieve using the header manger, tagDiv Composer and tagDiv Cloud library everything or even more that you can make in child theme.
If you have any questions, please let as know!
Thank you!
Hi,
Most of the theme files were moved into the tag div composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements. We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins.
Now the child theme is limited to just a few files. This is a consequence of the recent modifications to the location of theme files, due to Envato requirements. In this case, you will need to make all of your additional customizations through the main theme files.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.
Hi,
The view count will count each page view regardless of IP. If it changes after you refresh the page for example, that would mean it is working properly.
This count can be modified for each post in the post edit screen custom fields (if needed)
The functionality of the post view count cannot be changed by a theme setting. It can only be enabled/disabled.
Caching plugins can affect this option from working properly, you can try to activate this option
– https://www.screencast.com/t/kE41ZmJjyLK9
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
Thank you!
Hi,
Unfortunately for the moment we do not have a solution for this ( something like child theme ), what you can do for them moment is to save the changes you make in tagDiv Composer plugin and when you make the next update if there will be no solution for override, you can set the website in maintenance mode and set the saved changes quickly in tagDiv Compose plugin files.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!

Hi,
Did you make that modification in a child theme? After the 9.7 update this is not possible anymore. Now the child theme is limited to just a few files.
This is a consequence of the recent modifications to the location of theme files, due to Envato requirements. There is an article about it here – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
So now the header template files are in the composer – http://prntscr.com/ng7qe6 You could edit them there, but the modification will have to made again after each update. Files from plugins can’t be modified in a child theme.
An alternative to this is to use a cloud header template. For example set a cloud header template in general, in the theme panel. That will be used in the whole website. In the homepage use a different cloud header template that doesn’t contain an ad.
You can design a header as you want, even import one made by us (and modify it if needed)
In them you can add any element from the composer. You can set a general template that contains an ad, while in the homepage use one with no ad in it.
Let me know if you need help or you have more questions.
Thanks

Maybe there is a different way of adding the code you mention, for example if it can be added by shortcode, you could add a column text in the cloud post template and enter the shortcode in it.
Thanks
“Please notice that all of these files are working well on the child theme and should return good results if the added code is correct, sorry! Please check your child theme code and also, take into account the main changes which were made in our theme, regarding files.”
I am using the default child theme that you supply, with no changes made to it.
The child theme and AMP do not work together.
I have disabled every other plugin and it still does not work. Can your developers confirm this is the case as there are conflicting messages here.
Hi there, recently bought the theme. Last night I was installing the theme, tried to looking for the child version; since I couldn’t find it I was going through this forum and I saw many complainings and problems related to the new updates and the child version of this theme. Since I haven’t create anything yet I would like to know what’s the best option for me right now. Is it better to stay with the “father”and not make any updates in the future or installed the child?… Assuming that I have to do a job for a client (an important news website) so I need something durable and trustable.
Copy/paste the same textblock again and again is so disappointing. A theme that can’t be properly modified using a child theme is useless.

Hi,

Well, maybe envato’s terms have these requirements. But these requirements are absolutely opposite to what WordPress says for changes in theme files using a child theme. This is absurd in my opinion. Even so, you could create a function so we’re able to create overrides for the tagdiv composer plugin. There are plenty of plugins to offer that.
Edit: Reading more carefully in Envato’s requirements they don’t say anywhere to remove every override capability https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000480723#h_5966589781211522283728890. Unless I’m mistaken. They say:
If a child theme is provided with the theme, it must:
- Load the parent stylesheet using wp_enqueue_style() instead of @import.
- Consist of style.css, functions.php and screenshot.png files at a minimum.
- Append “Child” to the theme name so it can be identified as a child theme.
- Include files within the child theme directory using get_stylesheet_directory().
- Reference the parent theme via Template: parameter in the style.css header
- The child theme will be held to the same standards and best practices as the parent theme. For more information on Child Theme development, refer to WordPress Codex article.

Hi!
I generally make a new child theme only from the style.css and functions.php files. I take files from your documentation from the downloaded archive. As soon as I activate the child theme, the AMP item in the WP panel disappears. I remove the child theme – it appears.
In addition, a simple shortcode to replace text that works in version 9.6.1 in functions.php refuses to work in version 9.7.1. And does not work in the AMP version of the page.
In version 9.7.1, the changes (added js codes) in the child theme in the loop-single.php file do not work either. You did not move it to the tagdiv composer plugin.
Does the child theme work at all?

It isn’t safe to modify main files, one of the reasons is that the modifications will be lost when the theme and theme plugins are updated, so they will have to be made again.
Sorry??? This is exactly what a child theme is meant for. Of course, this is safe. It’s not a fire-and-forget solution. Now and then, you have to update the modified files. Usually, this is not a big deal when minor mods are added. However, it’s the best solution we have. And it is for good reasons the fundamental concept of WordPress themes.

If you are looking for the mobile theme files they are now in the composer

These files couldn’t be modified in a child theme previously.
Thanks
Hi all,

Hi,
Will the problem with the child theme be included in the next update?
In the child theme, I have a lot of changes in the parts directory and the loop-single and single_template files, which in the previous version were not in the parts catalog. What should I do now with all this?
I think this update is not fully thought out. What about people who use child theme? You have probably forgotten about them :(.
I will wait with the update of the theme.
Best regards,
Kasia Burek

Hi MKJ,
Please notice that for each up theme update you need to make a full backup to your database to avoid losing all of your data. Regarding on child theme, please notice that’s the consequence of moving the theme core files.
Most of the theme files were moved into the TagDiv composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements. We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/

You could edit them there, but the modification will have to made again after each update.
I’m pretty sure you know, that even plugin files can be overwritten? Have a look at the Satollo newsletter plugin, for example.
That would be the case, the child theme is quite limited after the recent update.
Thank you very much for killing one of the most fundamental features of a WordPress theme. This is probably the worst update next to WordPress 5.0 introducing Gutenberg.
